I don't think it has been a good game to play since the 90's to be honest

And it is garbage to watch now

Agree Happy, it’s like an old religion it just hasn’t evolved. It’s almost medieval with Castle building a moat and having a religious war with one of the players.
It offers nothing for the spectators and obviously ratings are at an all time low as a result.
Good ridden imo.

Yes, and I'd add it is dominated by rules and referees. Which Rugby League needs to heed, we shouldn't go down that path!

Hopefully that money is used to get the EPL back

Not that it’ll make a difference for you

Crikey Raelene Castle is a goose. A game that is literally dying and you reject a broadcast offer? They were lucky to get one in the first place.

She is so far out of her depth, Greenburg style, great news she is running rugby in to the ground though

She'd be great at the Roosters or Manly ......don't we all agree

Personally I think the Panthers are crying out for a sporting administrator like her.

Or Souths, Parra and Penrith, but yeh for sure

If league doesn't somehow oust Greenberg and his incompetent band of imbeciles the NRL will quickly be heading down the gurgler soon as well.
People are starting to see through the corruption and blatant bias that is rife in the NRL. Crowds are dropping, merchandise sales probably are too. Todd hangs his hat on the TV ratings numbers but if he buries his punchable head in the sand long enough the NRL will be a thing of the past.
The NRL are just extremely fortunate that there are no other team sports around that come close to rugby league as far as being a great game goes.
Soccer pffft. Aussie Rules pffft. Basketball pffft. Not even close, they're all duds.

I have played and watched League, AFL and union.

Union by far is the most boring to engage in any way.

Rarely watch the Wallabies or the Waratah's.

The Shute shield is still the heart of rugby in Sydney and really is worth watching. The ball gets thrown around, great tries and even the odd punch up which gets the crowd going.

This year the West harbour Pirates will be playing all home games at Drummoyne Oval while concord is rebuilt. 4 games, **free entry** to all and $5 dollar Young Henry beers and $4 dollar Garlo pies plus sausage sanga's. Jumping castles for the kids and they allowed on the field after the game. BBQ and drinks after the 1st grade game to meet the players.

Cheap day and lots of fun

End of advertisement

Seriously read between the lines. News Corp media saying Rugby is dead... No one can afford to produce rugby apart from them... we won’t pay...Blah blah blah.

Castle saying we have a premium audience that drives your subscriber base, pay up....

Where is the truth? Probably in the middle somewhere. Nine can pay and produce and also have the print media with SMH etc. News Corp prob has better reach and no one really watches free to air tv, payed overs when clubs got dropped. First real test of old media vs new media in the sport world (streaming vs tv). It’s a battle news can’t afford to lose, but also can’t pay overs. I’ll bet V’Landys is watching closely...nine/Optus/Telstra/ESPN all watching

Now that news is hitting rugby everyone seems to go for them, says AFL should be next and what they write is gospel. So short sighted

I read they were getting ratings of 30k for games. I think Castle is dreaming of she thinks rugby drive subscriptions mmm

Rugby has “premium subscribers” in her mind. Think old boys from private schools. Buy pay per view, buy platinum packages (is that the top? that I can’t afford). Don’t forget news/fox has a pretty low subscriber base to start with.... they have half a million or so for the news sites I believe. Everyone counts to them

If they have it for the news then they won't leave because there's no rugby.

Not quite my point.
