Rumor - Chris Lawrence To The Raiders 2015 !

only if we get someone who will be able to cement a spot in the starting squad without question and has experience at NRL level in the centres not just 20 or so games someone who people have actually heard of. if not lawrence needs to stay

Bloody oath, whenever our next best centre is Lulia then we need to keep Lawrence.

Gee there's some ordinary comments in this thread. Fair enough if you don't want him re-signed or would prefer him moving on but he deserves a bit better than some of this. For some reason this forum has to have a scapegoat - was Fitzy, now its Chris Lawrence. He's not playing like he is capable of but he's hardly been as bad as its made out… Some of the tries he gets blamed for defies belief...

Yeah cause everyone who has a different opinion must be blind right? Grow up will you?

He said on Twitter that he isn't going anywhere so joke is on anyone who was happy he was leaving. All the whinging about Lawrence is so boring. Rest of the team is just as abysmal at the moment minus one or two.

All things considered, we are not get the value out of Chris that we should be getting considering the cap space that he is taking up.

Correct. He probably needs a change as much as we need a new centre to be honest.

Wasn't Lawrence leaving last season as well

The guy may not be earning his pay packet on field , but I've been told all the hard work he has spent off field trying his best to get the best out of himself he has earned every cent

But that means little , a change may do him good but we will still end up paying some of his contract ,even at Canberra

Then unless we have someone better why jettison him….

We'll I'm guessing we would do that deal (with another player ) before we even approached this situation

But as I brought up previously who have we signed from the NRL that was a good signing in the last few years

Bodene has turned the corner , but it been pretty lean bar him

Otherwise it is fruitless

i'd like to play him in backrow properly before we lose him…. he does show real potential there... and afterall, the sheens plan was to build him up so he could play backrow, right?

We can't send him on his way with only Lulia as back up,that is just ridiculious, unless there is a replacement ready it will be a bad move,or this might be a ploy from the club to get Rowdy worried about his spot, great work if true.

Its definitely in the best interests of both parties for him to leave. He's stale, uninspired and has been badly struggling for 3 years. He needs a change of scenery, although i highly doubt any club in the NRL would pay more than 100k for him.

We could replace him with anyone (but Lulia) and not be worse off. He offers nothing and costs us a lot both on and off the field.

I don't want my backs making more hitups and metres than our props. That's not his primary job. His job is to score tries, break the line and set up tries for his team mates. He has failed to do this for 3 years. Game over, time to move on…

I just hope his legacy with us will still be the player who scored a length of the field try on debut against the Broncos, and blitzed Slater down the touch line, and was the best hole runner this club has seen in 15 yrs (that's right, pre-injury no one ever hit a hole better than C. Lawrence). That's the player that deserves to be remembered, not the player whose name has become a punch line.

I have mixed feelings as I really like Lawrence howeever I beleive it would be best for both parties to part company.

Hope the rumours are true.

Might be best for everyone. Chris is struggling to justify his salary and it would be sad to see a club legend in NSW cup. Even if we have to pay a chunk of his salary, Canberra get a steady centre of backrower, great trainer, club man and person who will give his all. A package with Moltzen would be the best way to go.

Those blaming the backrow issues dont understand we will have the best backrower in the comp in a few years in Curtis Sironen and we have a ready made centre and his name is Blake Austin.

Lmao ! I can just imagine Lawrence & MOLTZEN driving down the Hume highway together with half a dozen suit cases on the roof racks !!

I wouldnt let him go, We have no one to take his place & no one is one the Market of any note. Plus if we let him go how much of his Contract are we going to pay?.

Blake Austin will make a good centre, he is too good a player to carry as a utility on the bench. Where do you fit him if Moses moves to 6 when Tedesco is back?

Plus we would be better grooming or picking up a younger player with potential than persisting with Chris who unfortunately wont get any better. For one of his staunchest allies his last few games have been painful to watch. Potter has obviously told him to add some more variation to his game. He has always been a runner and all of a sudden he is throwing no look passes wtf?

Lawrence is no fool and a realist and I cant see him wanting to hold an improving young team back. I have fully expected there would have been moves underway to eith move him to another club and swallow part of his salary, ESL or backrow.

In Rick Stuart we may have found our new Alan Bond (Flanagan being our previous one).
