Rumor - Chris Lawrence To The Raiders 2015 !

Chris might not have the outright speed he used to have, but I think he was used more effectively in the past. The sweep plays the Tigers run now crowd the centres and reduce their options, so all they can do is catch and pass. If you look at past Lawrence highlights he was never really a stepper or outpacing people but rather used to hit a gap and crash through (although he did outrun Slater that night).

The attack patterns that the Tigers currently employ rarely use the outside backs effectively, when was the last time Simona or Noffa was given half a chance. Too often these guys get the ball with a complete and set defensive line in front of them and are expected to create something.

It's unfortunate because Lawrence is a top bloke and he had such huge potential. However, lets think about this constructively.

Pros:
Enormous salary cap space will open up
Simona will be able to lock down left centre

Cons:
We need to back this up with a good signing or we essentially just lose another centre

I'm a bit worried. It seems that salary cap space opens up and nothing ends up happening. Liam and Lawrence combined will be huge. We need to sign a really good right centre and backrower with this money

I feel like our problem is the back row. They rarely run as effective decoys and don't create that overlap.

good riddance

Harsh. Not like he chose to be injured and it's not his fault he is named in the starting team every week.

I'm pretty sure it would still be going towards our salary cap.

I've had a look and there really isnt much out there in the way off good centres that are off-contract. Maybe Fine gets a go?

Chris in his hey day, steamed onto balls that put him into daylight, this space was created by the men inside especially Benji's passing game, that now is evident with his combo he has going with Dugan on the Dragons left edge.

These structures are no longer in place, Chris's pace has deserted him and we do not have a player who is capable of throwing the quality balls to put Chris into space. Brooks will eventually be the man, but he is a couple of years away at present.

Anyway it would be a win for Chris and a win for us

If we're releasing Chris, I hope we have some centres we're aiming to sign for next year. This will leave us with absolutely no depth in the centres.

All things considered, we are not get the value out of Chris that we should be getting considering the cap space that he is taking up.

Does anyone know what his back ended contract may look like?

A piece of paper with some writing on it.

With an extra 0 or two towards the bottom somewhere…?

Lawrence is rumoured to be on around 500 a season , when he signed this contract he was in top form and was slated for big things in the game.

Unfortunately he never reached the heights we all expected and has become a anchor in terms of our salary cap and his defence is terrible , opposing teams have worked him out , as we have all seen Lawrence will have a bad read in defence and bleed at least one try per game.

If he goes Lulia can pack his bags as well , I am hoping its true as I personally think it will be a win for both Chris and the Tigers.

I'm in the minority. He's had maybe two outright bad games this year. Has outplayed Simona most weeks (though it's because Simona has received little ball in fairness). Last week showed really good signs bumping off players and seems to have some returning speed. Add to the fact that we are extremely weak in his position and that we'd have to pay (a large) part of his contract, I can't believe it'd be even contemplated quite frankly.

He's also a junior and a good bloke and that does count for something, though is the last reason I'd be keeping him. Weakness in his position and positive signs from him are the main ones.

I'm with you mate. I understand alll the concerns but i feel a lot of those are based on the player he was 3-4 years ago. Granted he still makes poor defensive reads every so often and his hands have been like cakes of soap lately, but as you say, there have been some positive signs regarding his game this season. A closer look at his performances this season suggest he is improving with time. Having less injuries this season has helped him and to be honest i'm not so sure that given a full pre season that in 2015 he can't improve some more.

I definitely would be erring on the side of caution with Chris. There's no massive need to let him go anyways. Who's on the market that could better him??

Let me laugh this off first and hope this is a rumor only

He lost his pace due to injuries and recently has made some errors and dropped some ball but geez he is built tough.
He is not shy to run into a bunch of forwards and throw his body on the line in defense
I must admit at times he moves up too quick and misses his man but Chris has a lot of courage.

It'd would be sad to see him leave the club considering he started so young with us and how good he was prior to his injuries.

Chris hasn't been in the top form he used to have but he hasn't been as bad as many have made out

2 Try Assists - Only Farah, Brooks, Anasta, Tedesco have more then 1
4 line break assits -Brooks, Farah, Tedesco have more then him and only those and Austin (2) have more then 1
4 line breaks
He has averaged 106 meters this year whenever he has played the full game
He has averaged 134 meters per game since round 6

He may have made a few mistakes and isn't at his best but jesus he works damm hard on the field and is great off it

Personally I hope he doesen't go

Great guy , great clubman on massive coin .
Ju.ry is out , even though at certain games I have screamed to Potter to get him off the field as soon as possible.
I believe for the nest 8 games of this regular season he will play his best footy of the year …which isn't hard , some might say.
ESL would be a better fit for him.
Good fortune whatever path he takes .....just hoping he can play finals footy with us this year , if he is leaving
