Rumour Barba & Maitua

Barba is a champion player… all class. I don't give a stuff what he does off the field providing it is not illegal or a chargeable offence under civilian law. Tedesco/Blair are run of the mill average players and will never rise above that. Barba is a champion and players like him are very few and far between. If we are really serious about recruiting him and having a go at a premiership then throw everything that we possess at him.

Do we still have a no dickhead policy ? All class Yeah drinking and gambling as a way of "escaping from the world" is all class. NO Thanks we don't need a player who fights with team mates and can't control himself off the field.

Our no dickhead or no troublemakers policy has cost us big time.

Carney
Mason
Jennings ( although not either)

But because these players have issues with current clubs, people need to look at the people who surround them and the party they hang with.

I'm sure there are others that we pulled pin on cause of the stupid policy.

Peanuts exist in all walks of society.

Rugby League attracts a special type of person.

You'd probably have a higher ratio of peanuts in RL:Society…just the way it is.
Badminton players/Librarians/Crocheters and flautists - probably less peanuts there.

Yet some expect RL to rid itself of peanuts totally....it will not happen, not until robots play the game

By association I know a few of those EBC clowns. Barba being a tattoo bearing member. You all think these muppets are out on their benders on alcohol alone…. please!

Pretty much if you are ok with him as long as he is not breaking any laws.... umm you do the math.

I've heard the rumours about Barba but he is a great player and there is no denying that currently he is in much better form and is a more complete player than Tedesco. I hope we don't get rid of Tedesco for Barba but wouldn't mind him at the club tbh. We need a player who can spark our attack and he would provide us with another ball playing option with our second phase plays.

To those against Barba coming:
What if Slater was available? Would you say "stick with Teddy"?
This is the dumbest argument ever.
Who should we be going for then? A second rower? A front rower?
I wouldn't blow all the money there, no way!
Why wouldnt I? Because IMO we have not recovered since losing:
Prince
Hodgson
A top class fullback and halfback is what we desperately need. Then our spine would be awesome and would just make everyone else look good - like we did in 05 and like the Storm have done for years. In 05 we made players like Elford, Galea and even Fitzhenry into pivotal role players. The Storm have lost Inglis, Folau, Crocker, Blair, Manu J Smith, White, Lima, D Johnson plus plus plus and still their spine takes the team to grand finals.
Teddy might have potential but if Barba is on the market THROW A FRIGGIN BLANK CHEQUE at him and do it NOW. This would leave only one piece of the puzzle to complete a dazzling spine and more importantly we would be a major threat every week!

If slater was available YES i would stick with teddy because we dont need to spend 800k-1 MILLION from our cap on a fullback. I also would say no to JT because i dont want to waste a million on a position that we have tonnes of talent in. Also, i'd say no to uate because we have a tonne of wingers.

If we have a million to spare, lets buy 2 marquee props like Kasiano and Matt Scott. Or some secondrowers like Dave Taylor (but not dave taylor  )

Kasiano is no way worth it. Scott I rate as the best Prop around.
Still, I think a safe defensive and amazing attacking fullback is worth a sh!tload more than nearly any forward. You don't, so we have to agree to disagree.

Call me old fashioned, but I want a player who bleeds black and gold and isn't after the money!

The Tigers will always be better with more Robbie Farah's and less Adam Blairs.Just like we were better with the Heighno's and the Beaus.

Tedessco is so young and just coming off a very serious injury in a losing team. I think he is going to be a champion at the game and someone who will relish pulling on the Black, White and Gold. There is no way I would be sacrificing him for someone who has problems off field and will only be here for the $, just simply because he is better right now.

Have faith. If Teddy doesn't get there, then we buy. But not now.

Didn't expect this many responses when I posted the thread ><
I'm happy with tedesco as fullback works hard and after coming back from that knee injury next season will be his break out year.
I know the two rumours regarding barba I won't repeat them but if they would be true I for one would not want him at our club. The interesting thing is about a month ago I can't remember who out of potter or mayer said it but was stated that a big name forward was coming our way i wouldn't have a clue who that would be as not many big names are on the open market.

:roll

Barba isn't coming to the Tigers, other clubs would have more money to throw at him, they always do.

And for what other reason than money would he want to come here??

There have been no real suggestions that Matuia will come here either, just someone on this forum changing the sentence 'I'd like Matuia at the Tigers' to 'I heard a rumour Matuia will come to the Tigers'

We don't need either of them. Quietly and surely we're assembling a roster of talented young players who actually want to play for us, not just because we're offering more than other clubs.

lol i can imagine how the convo went

potter's friend: how good is barba going
potter: yeh he's good, he would play good in any team

bystand: *let me just tell DT about it*

DT: according to very reliable sources, we have confirmation that wests tigers' coach mick potter is interested in barba

its hard to argue the barba case here.
tedesco has too many loyals (which is good).
but its like parra fans arguing to keep sandow if thurston was available.
its a no brainer.

Its not that people don't want him, its that people are looking at other things that will be affected. Its not a small thing to recruit someone like Barba.

The argument of "you are lying" or "you are stupid….if you say you wouldn't take Barba" ignores the merits of the other side of the argument completely.

Its not an instant win to say something like "we will be a stronger team with him, therefore all other arguments are useless".

I know everyone is giving Barba huge wraps , but if you put Tedesco behind that huge Bulldogs pack he would be just as effective

And i wonder if Barba would dog it behind our pack

At least you know that Tedesco will put it all on the line win , lose or draw

Stick with Teddy and focus on getting an experienced prop and or centre ,that is where our problems lay in my opinion

I dont think this is true, Barba laid on about a million tries off his own bat , off kick returns and individual bits of brilliance that had nothing to do with a steam rolling pack.,

Barba is a freak.

Tedessco is good and has the potential to be very good, but he is yet produce Dally M quality form.

We cant buy any more props, we have a million! We now have Woods, Gallloway, Blair, all experienced, up and comers building experience in Buchannan, Sue, Ava, Gavet, Groat and Taupau
