Russian invasion of Ukraine

Stop being so emotional, you must be well past the age of conscription looking for another blasted world war like that...

Russia will most likely secure the South and pull-out after assurances there will be no further incursions west - It's a matter of national security. Zelensky has initiated talks again after bumbling through the first negotiations, fingers crossed

History has repeatedly shown that you can not appease conquerors

I am young enough for required fighting if in Ukraine and to be emotional as I waved goodbye to wife and child on their temporary journey to the safety of another country.

This invasion is certainly not about national security.

Snide little Hitler/Putin comparison there. Ironic seeing that the Russians were the ones who liberated Auschwitz while the Ukrainians helped guard it. Let's stay on topic ... and do better

The vast majority of Ukranians where fighting nazis like the the majority of the civilised world but it is typical of you to blame all of them for the behaviour of a few traitors.

Conscription no but in Ukraine at the moment even men over 60 who are "physicality and morally able to fight" can join the regular army not just the territorials.

The oldest so far in his 80s.

@Magpie_Magic hope he returns home safely

There was an open letter from 50 prominent foreign policy experts and professors in the U.S. back in 1997 long before Putin's ascent to power to the US President Clinton arguing then there should be no further eastward expansion of NATO because it would destabilize Europe and lead to this type of consequence. In 2008 George Burns said something similar going on to say that whoever he speaks to in Russia Putin aside everyone unanimously believed that it would threaten Russian security interests.

There's a good thread on this:

Russia was invited to Syrian at the request of the democratically elected government. I remind you that they are a big reason why we don't talk about ISIS and various militias anymore. Chechens love Russia, they're helping get rid of the Azov brigade in the south as we speak ... A good thing imo
the truth is not black and white, but has a lot of shades of grey🙂 Saying that "Chechens love Russia" has to be interpreted as "some Chechens like Russia" - or the faction that "invited" Russia to occupy Chechnya "loves" Russia.
This is similar to say Afghans love Russia😏

Yes haha that was too casual of me ..

X2
We do talk to the taliban now too 😒

From an Australian standpoint I don’t think we have any right to scoff at Russias actions when our recent military actions have been horrendous. Defending our civil liberties in the stans; North Africa; Middle East etc we just spent two decades in Afghanistan 🇦🇫

You can't just 'punish' a nuclear armed super-power, that's foolish. Sanctions will hurt Europe as well as Russia, they have a lot of partners in Africa/Asia and to the East. Also, don't forget the US & UK consume a lot of Russian gas/oil ... Forget the vodka & babushka exports haha

Today the Rubel dipped below US 1cent and is less than 50% of where it was a year ago. That relates to a 100% inflation rate.

The Russian share exchange MOEX dropped to less than 50% since the invasion and they closed the share exchange today, refused to open which will result in a massive sell off tomorrow.

The largest oil company Rosneft shares have fallen through the floor.

Russian people are queuing up to get their money out of the banks.

The Wests sanctions are hitting Russian people hard already and they will stay for a long time. I cant see a "win" for Putin here.

How far south are Kyiv and Kharkiv?

Putin apologists tend to try to have it both ways on Ukraine. One day it was always part of Russia, the next they were fighting each other in WW2?

I can...The ruble is about to be gold backed...the old swift system is going to be defunct in the next week or so...the swift system was connected to the fiat system which the big banking families such as the Rockerfellers,Rothchilds,Vatican and Royals dominated for decades and decades....changes are coming globally ....and for the BETTER....
The Canadians were pulling their money out as were a lot of the USA people, what does that tell you..?
the USA will be on a new currency called the rainbow currency, the USTN...
United States Treasury Note...all gold, silver and precious metal backed...
All is not as it seems...you and others call me a conspiracy theorist and lunatic...
funny how Covid is on the back burner,Canada was in the limelight and now have dropped all mandates, now its all about Ukraine, where everybody is crying for the people of a country they know little about only what MSM tell them, dont worry about coersion of getting the jab or crimes against humanity in other places such as the borders in USA where child trafficking is rife as well as drug cartels running rampant...and yet all those so called immigrants can get into USA with no jabs, visas or passports...
I said before ..lets see what the TRUTH is when it is finally revealed....
