AND…. they still have 2.3 mill left in the cap.

It would be funny if the NRL didn't beleive it Russ, but unfortunately uncle Nick has the NRL exactly where he wants them

They’ve got a couple of good recruits for next year in Taupau and Chriechton(probably spelled it wrong), ah well , we benefit by that with them releasing Matterson and Momo

Who's Momo..?

Can’t remember his name Momoroski or something like that,

I wish that were true Newtown, but I don't think they will ever run out out of them. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they make a play for Munster in the off season, as I think Cronk may now retire.

I heard on the radio yesterday that Munster had resigned with storm?

So he is off to the Roosters?

Sorry, re-signed. My bad.

Cronk should play until he’s 40 , after watching how he managed and Coached his team around the field in the GF hecould do it easily

He is what you call a system player. Would be neither here nor there in our colours.

System player? Explain?
His a worker and a tough nut pure and simple. Think he’d adapt to any system.
Plays a fair deal of lock when Finucane is injured. I mentioned him for a lock. Any who other suggestions out there bring them forward?

Options for lock that are off contract at the end of 2019?
Joe Ofahengaue
Cameron Murray
Agnatius Paasi
James Fisher-Harris

Most of those are unrealistic, although Ofahengaue could be a chance given how many young forwards Brisbane have signed up. He'd be great.

Think it's worth making a play for JFH. No secret that panthers need to shed a few players to ease cap pressure going forward.

Fisher Harris and Ofahengaue would be good.
JFH will have some competition with young Kayne Ellis, Hetherington and Liam Martin, however he is still a cut above and really could add something to our side.
Ofahengaue is a little different less power plays but really consistent work would make a good thirteen as well as a prop. Both would add to our team for 2020.

If IC is still coach, ET will remain at lock imo. I wouldn't mind seeing twal there. As in signings I'm not sure…

I’d love for us to try and poach Kenny Bromwich from Melbourne. Always a squad man down there could make a real good fist of a starting position with another club. Off contract end of 2019.

system player: n. Drone incapable of independent thought. See Adam Blair.

There is plenty of choice in terms of forwards at the Panthers. Realistically, they'll lose who they want to and I don't think who they want to lose is who we need. We just have to develop more of our own and hope they demonstrate a bit more heart than the three who left us.

Blair was good at the storm, was good at the bronco's, and was good this year for the warriors, Sheen's was using him wrong

he was great for the storm, good for the broncos in 15 but ordinary in 16/17 (hence why they released him with a year to go on his contract) and terrible for the warriors this year

Well the FOX team agreed with me, they said Blair was the key for the warriors, when he was out they were a different team, but everyone has their own opinion, so thats cool

Gee…I wonder who is Momo? :unamused: :unamused:

Is taupau to the Rooster official?

How could they possibly afford him? Fergusons wage would not even cover the 2 wingers they have already signed, let alone Angus. You can bet we are paying more for Matterson than what they were paying him.

As others have said just earlier.
The problem with us is not the player it is the system WE employ.
Blair being successful at 3 out of 4 clubs is evident of this.
You can’t say if we didn’t already go through that drama with Blair at the Tigers. That in looking for a dominant prop lock a type like Blair wouldn’t be who we would be looking to recruit.
And I think there is a bit of difference between the two players and I think the lack of flair that Bromwich plays with would be an advantage over the Adam Blair we recruited years ok.
We need TOUGH players. Doesn’t matter what system but wouldn’t you rather an experienced one from a winning culture.

The thing is though, if panthers don’t wrap him up in a months time. His open to anyone. And a young guy on the rise may just be open to a decent offer.

They have no idea to what they’ve signed up for!!
In all seriousness though I’m glad they signed ,fully aware, of all the media attention the club draws.

Missed the semi's and GF as I was overseas. I asked a few of my mates who follow the Chooks on Matterson's input and they said he was strong.
