Sack Marshall

Assuming Arthur would want to come anywhere near the joint.
Now we have a real ceo and a boardroom who mind their business we will become a much more attractive proposition than we were. Problem will be how long a new coach will think it'll take to get us competitive.

I think that, given time, Benji May turn out to be a decent coach.
Unfortunately this club in short supply of “Time” factor.

Way I see it only two options …. Benji calls press conference announcing/ restating that “family commitments” are more important than making a priority his full commitment to the first grade coaching duties.…. or as many have suggested …. step back to assistant to an new appointment of a experienced coach.

If he is not ok with either of those outcomes the club should not sack him …. It would be a terrible look and diminish what little positive PR we may currently have. The media and people like Bennet would crucify us.

We been the clowns of the NRL for this exact reason.

Squad needs fixing asap
So what do you propose we do about it? Over the past couple of years, we signed the likes of Klemmer, Papalii, Bateman & Api to bolster our forward pack. In the backs we signed Naden, Staines and Olam - all good or at least fairly good players when we signed them, all have played in grand finals.

We got rid of those we all deemed as the deadwood or non-developing players holding us back in Brooks, Nofo, Laurie, Talau and Liddle to name a few. We unearthed some precocious sought after talent in Bula, Steph and Galvin. We’ve added some experience in the halves (Sezer) while we wait for the arrival of Luai and signed the highly touted Fainu brothers and now Turuva for next season.

I don’t know how else this club can fix the squad, we’ve been trying for years now, constantly cleaning out deadwood and signing experienced first grade players - it’s not working and I’m at the point where I don’t think it’s ever gonna work. Clearly our problems are of a spiritual nature because there is just no reasonable explanation for our constant failure otherwise.

No one would raise this thread at half time last night.

There's a ton of reasons why it's looking like things are pear shaped today but the squad is being culled, the swamp of our lousy Top 30 is being drained, and no amount of wishing otherwise can change anything.

This is the real change we all wanted out of the review.

Better management.
Consistency.
A team to compete and get back into finals.

But again, no one expected that in 2024.
As Richo has said: patience.

It is so hard to have to deal with the now but it's all about the tomorrows to come.
Good post. Remember the saints conceded 38 or so points in the second half only a few weeks ago.

We had a great first half and were looking great. Then came the unforced errors, a justified sin binning of a player who seemed more interested in sledging players from his former club than anything else, 20% possession plus error after error and it was over.

Galvin, Bula and Api can hold their heads high. The rest need to take stock of themselves.

It seems to me that Bula's future may be as a centre. He has good defence, a good step, can find a gap and has good pace and unloading skills. Can't hurt to give it a try. Our backline was crap, especially in the second half. Seafarth is a good player until he has his usual brain snap ( last night was involved in a few melees and a horrible double movement). If he can get some discipline he would be an asset to the team. If not then.....
.Good first half garbage second half. Team selection for next week? Stick with the same or bring in some youngsters? Good luck Benji.
