Sack Sheens Thread

Stuart gets a bad rap from people on here for god knows what reason. He's a premiership winning coach for gods sake. Sure he's a jerk, but to say he can't coach is just idiotic

Dont shoot the messenger.

Yes, I know its been rumoured before…but theres talk close to the top at the club of Ricky Stuart coming in for 2013 to coach with Sheens in a coaching admin/co-ordintor role.

Last time Sheens gave Stuart advice he destroyed him in his weekly column in the tele. I'd be surprised if it happens

Balls are okay if you have brains… A coach's job is to get the best out of the players. A conditioner will train them.

u think ricky don't have brains? people criticize him winning those premiership/s with roosters saying he had a very good roster, we have an excellent roster and i think he brought out the best in them.

Well my comment was a touch light hearted but only just. I'm sure he's a smart man, I just don't want him coaching my team.

Roosters were in a GF 2 years before Ricky arrived at Bondi. We came close to coming last before Sheens arrived.
I don't rate him as a coach very highly at all. His recruitment efforts at the Sharks were awful - the club is only now recovering from them. I think he has been one step behind the Queenslanders pretty much the whole time he's been NSW coach. He's had some exceptional talent to call upon but continues to pick teams that force key players to make up for his dopey selections. I'm sure some people will be on here to say Sheens does the same thing but then again Sheens doesn't have the massive range of options that Stuart has…

im not sure about how he is coaching NSW because its only been 4 games, however this is what im trying to say, recruitment is not even a job of a coach. his job is to pick the best 17 and make em play to their potential. ricky imo can do that. every club has a team for recruiting and the coach probably advices them but should not /does not have the final say in it. i personally dont mind sheens' recruiting, so if he wants a job in the recruiting team, i dont mind.

Sticky to me is very one dimensional as a coach, all his game plans are based on big forward battles with very little attention to attack and skill. He is all about filling your team with hard nuts and winning arm wrestles. Their is no plan B and that style is long gone. I think with most things you have to start looking at the new breed at some stage

Stuart is emotional, reactionary and volatile. His post Origin interview was one of the most whacky I've ever heard. Made Matty Elliott look positively sane. He has a talent for pathetic pathos, in particular the transfer of blame to anyone else but his players. If I had a dollar for every time the nitwit says 'in regards to' I'd be wealthy.

Forget him, he's damaged goods, he doesn't need a Club, he needs a life counsellor and a comfortable reclining rocker

I do not like anything about Ricky Stuart in relation to football. I do appreciate his efforts towards helping autism awareness.

I would find it hard to watch games with im as our coach. He and Brian Smith are the only 2 coaches I don't have time for.

Yes it is. Recruitment is a massive part of an NRL coach's job. If you're an NRL coach and don't have a significant (if not final) say in your team's recruitment efforts it's time to look for a new career.
Waste of time recruiting blokes the coach has no interest in playing…

Probably '89.

Three words for me, Sheens for coach. People get on here & bag him if we win or loose, when he took over we were a basket case, now we play good footy & are competitive we could be doing a lot worse.

Yes yes yes we all know the state the club was in from 00-02\. What i don't get is why people assume the club will revert back to that state once the man leaves

when we lose and "we" bag him, people say where were you when we were winning
when we win and "we" bag him, people say we are winning FFS stop bagging the coach.

truth is, my opinion is that we are winning in spite of sheens, you are entitled to believing that sheens brought us to '05, but since then, he has had a terrible record.

What rooooobish…... We have been in the top four for the last two years.

And look well to do so again.

Only team to finish in the top 4 last 2 seasons… And it's not like he's had a dream run with injuries either

I use a different system Ink …. Like all good Accountants, we can usually twist the numbers to suit ourselves. Lol
Fourth position in a field of sixteen = 75% success rate for mine ..... That puts him well under par in golfing parlances.

the irony…...Your argument for Stuart's credentials is that he has won a premiership, but constantly call for Sheens sacking despite his 4 premierships

I think that Stuarts style gets results for a short period, but getting players to grind and grind wears them down very quickly. His disposal of halfbacks in particular is an issue, not a fan of Stuart at all,

I don't get how anyone can rate a petulant child like Stuart over Sheens.

Team performance matters however the image the coach portrays and the culture he brings is also important. Stuart to me is a failure in both of those categories.

I'm not saying he is a better coach than Sheens either. I think Sheens would be the better coach as well.
