Sack Sheens Thread

I trust Sheens, I mean sure his selections can be a bit crazy and at times in the season we fall flat, but we've been performing at the right time of the season for 3 years straight now, and you can only put that down to experienced coaching.

I don't think he should be sacked, but I would welcome a change. Bellamy and Sheens are the 2 current longest serving coaches (2003 -) and yeah, I think it'd be nice to see some fresh ideas come into the club, different players, maybe even a different style.

Sheens is working at the moment (moment being 2009 - present), to sack him would be very strange. The time to sack him was in 2008.

Sitting near the great man on Sunday afternoon i noticed a couple of things.

He was watching the under 20's game extremely intently. Allowed himself absolutely no interruptions. Even moreso that Payten was.

and he didn't give a god-damned thing away. Not a single shake of the head when they made a soft mistake, not a positive movement when we scored, nothing. He was a statue.

I would never want to play poker with him.

same here, imagine how effective woods and galloways runs would be if they played for 60 rather than 70+.
gotta command woods on his fitness though, hopefully he doesn't burn out

It might not make a difference. Some players need breaks whereas others don't.

Woods has always had an excellent motor for a big fella, and he seems to be bringing Galloway along with him which is great to see.

Great to see the pro Tim faction having our day in the sun

I'm sure when the ineviteable comes and we lose a few the sack Sheens lobby will be back in business.

Where would this forum be without it !!

Watching Newcastle this year makes it obvious who the best coach in the game is

Tim Sheens I salute you !

So you base Bennetts coaching on his current teams record….but ignore all the other coaches that are doing better than WTs so far this year???

Riiiiight. :crazy

So this is the first time I've even bothered to open this thread because its pretty obvious what goes on in here.
I'm a pro sheens man however based on how well our forwards are playing and improving this season I'm starting to get worried about young groats return. Now I know it hasn't even happened yet and I'm not even bagging the kid but it would be a real pity to drop someone else at the moment.
Opening myself up to a whole bunch of ridicule and smart ass comments but whatever, someone tell me it won't happen!!! C'mon Timmy don't do it!

6 in a row! do you still want to sack him. I really don't understand some people on this forum. People are never happy with what they have.

Just think where this club was when Tim wasnt in charge ? now compare it we are miles in front and dont look like slowing down, we dont sign overpriced duds anymore we choose who plays for the tiges now and dont have to jump at every off contract player anymore

I could ask the question of you, why do you accept nearly as being good enough? Why do you accept a team that plays brilliantly for 6-10 weeks every year but plays god damn awful for much more?

Why do you accept a coach that hasnt delivered a premiership in 7 years? Why do you accept a coach that has made the finals 3 times in the last 9 years of coaching at the Wests Tigers?

No one is disputing the club was a rabble prior to Tim Sheens and he has done wonderfully to turn it around. But one day the messiah will eventually retire and Im pretty sure the world wont come to an end. In fact maybe the club could become a real powerhouse that displays consistency on a week to week basis with a structured coaching style.

I am not denying the last 6 weeks have been great in the most part, but the 5 before that were ordinary to say the least! I would love to see at least 1 more premiership in the Benji Marshall era as it would be an absolute travesty if this club didnt at least make the grand final this year considering the squad and potential of these players.

Does my opinion about the coach matter to anyone but myself, no. The messiah has a contract until the end of 2014 and nothing I can say or do will change that. But it does astound me that supporters of this club still pull out the same lines of 'we were crap in 2002', IT WAS 10 BLOODY YEARS AGO!! :bash Manly were in a worse state, yet look at them now.

Dude haven't you been feeling the love this evening

And you had to dig this thread up :brick:

Suppose it could of been worse it could of been a Moltzen thread or a Balmain v Wests thread

The team has run top 4 in the last 2 seasons and they're back in the top 4 now. We've won 6 in a row and in that run we've held 2 teams to nil (and another to nil for 65 minutes). Two of the losses we could have easily won (Souths and Brisbane).

Apart from Melbourne all teams have up swings and down swings. Sheens has been able to get the team peaking at the right time the last 2 seasons. You're welcome to continue your complaints about the man but his record in the last 2 and half seasons is close to the best in the NRL. Personally I'm pretty happy with we're we sit now. A win in Melbourne and then the bye and we're extremely well placed heading towards the final third of the season.

Yeah I dug this thread up, right after others got on this thread to gloat that they were right because the team is on a winning streak. :roll

I guess I should just shut my mouth as my opinion means nothing to nobody, only the messiah lovers are entitled to free speech. :master:

If you had read my post I was stating that who knows where we could be with a new coach. For all he has done to be coaching the one club for 10 years with 1 premiership is an absolutely amazing record and am unsure if it has ever been replicated in history.

I enjoyed the win, and the last 2 years were definately a pass mark, but I also would like to see another premiership with the team… ah I give up posting. God forbid people can have an opinion that challenges others.
