Sack Sheens Thread

I'll probably get shot down for this but I think Fittler could be a good coach for us. He would suit the way we play, City looked like a well-coached side, Would be great for team moral and especially Simon Dwyer.

GNR - I am not doubting some of their credentials, but not sure that we should weight so heavily their success in UK.

Anderson and Folkes would be better than Brown or Taylor (I don't think they command enough respect). I would certainly want to focus on longevity so I would prefer Folkes.

Personally, I'd love a coaching team that has the history of our merged clubs - Pearce / Ben Elias (I love his opinions) and Georgallis/Dymock? This will never happen though

A suggestion from left-field - Peter Sterling - he has always had a phenomenal football brain.

The first 68 minutes was all the player good doing, of course excluding Moltzen, Lote and Blair, the last 12 minutes all Sheens, Humphreys and the above 3 players…..sack the lot of them

I didnt write this..but I wish I had…I AGREE completely ..if only.

Not gunna happen. Tim Sheens will come good. I just know he will, then all you knockers will have to eat your words.

Just like you declared Moltzen was back after one half decent game against Penrith?

Sorry Madam but your predictions don't fill me with a great deal of confidence

Folkes would take this team to a whole new level. God I wish we'd kept him here.

You have to wonder why on earth the club would have let him go? was Sheens worried he might have a suitable replacement alongside him?

I can't believe anyone would shoot down Folkes, yet endorse Sheens at the same time. Sheens record isn't any better over the last decade

Sheens is the Australian coach and is a contemporary NRL coach with plenty of experience behind him. Folkes, from my observations, has concentrated on the conditioning side of things since leaving the coaching role at the Bulldogs and is untested in recent times.

If someone better came along, I'd entertain the idea, but when you've got the dregs to pick from it's better the devil you know IMHO.

would love to hear what potential coaches had to say about the roster, the changes to be made to the roster and how they would use the skills on the roster.
and do they believe in competition for spots on the team.

I'd like to see what Daniel Anderson could do with the team. He's a commentator on the ABC and he sounds like a very intelligent bloke. Plus, he took Parramatta to the Grand Final… He must be good!

He has a great football brain. I'd love to see him as our next coach. I think people are letting the way Parra shafted him influence their opinion of the guy. Yeah Parra got rid of him, turned out to be a good move didn't it 😕

I am not a great fan, but Stuart declared on tv the other day that he wants to coach in the NRL again.

So to say that there is no one to replace Sheens is poppycock.

Tigers need a proven coach that can attract players. So, a coach that can replace Sheens (IMHO) is either Bennett, Bellamy or Hasler. If none of them is available stick with Sheens.

:sign:

There are plenty of potential coaches around with FG experience & success.

Daniel Anderson
Ricky Stuart
Jason Taylor
Graham Murray
Michael Hagan
Matthew Elliot

Not saying I'd take any of them, but there's definitely a few around

bellamy is the one we should be after, then bennett, then hasler, if not him then griiffin, and if he says no, then sign up Terry Matterson - talk about a football brain. But it has to be now, before robbie and benji retire. Tim will do me for the rest of the season. I have faith in Tim right now, but at the moment we're not doing it.

While I have contributed to this thread I think that this topic is getting on a bit now. Sheens recently signed up for a few more seasons so let's focus on other issues, like getting a halfback. Having said that, I am still happy to contribute to the banter -

So….as long as we are punting and disregarding reality -

How about Bill Harrigan? Would that even be allowed? Am I a loony for even suggesting that?
He knows the game and commands respect. I reckon he could turn out to be quite a coach.
It would be a very interesting season with him at the helm of ANY club!

If Billy came out and said he wanted to coach would we be jealous of the club that eventually signed him?

I agree Anderson is a good coach, but we must remember that the run to the 2009 GF was thanks largely to the Hayne and Mateo show.

Probably get shot down for this but what the hell. Stuart, although a massive knob, has the track record, and i would say would be the most well credentialed candidate there is. 3 consecutive GF's in his first 3 seasons as a head coach with one premiership. And then guided the Sharks to a pre-lim final in 08\. A massive tool yes, but the guy can coach, his record speaks for itself

Didn't he take warriors into GF in 2002?
