@851 said:@Furious1 said:The whole thing is ridiculous. Of course Sheens wants his money. Last year the club re-signed him to a 3 year deal. If not for that Sheens would be at Penrith secure for another couple of years. Instead, the club has thrown him on the scrap heap and he is now clubless and jobless. Nobody here has any idea what financial committments he may have, which could have been based around his contract. The club should have expected nothing less than Sheens wanting a full payout. Anything else was always going to be a bonus.
The club has almost effectively retired Sheens. At his age, it's going to be quite difficult to pick up another substantial contract if he is out of the game for a couple of years.
It is his own fault he is out of work,he mucked around with the halves all season,9 halves and only 1 injury,he had Benji out of position most of the year,he had Farah at 7,Fulton,Ayshford and Lawrence at 6 all the while moving 3 or 4 players to cover 1 injury,he hasn't bought or developed a halfback, what does he expect.
He has had a free ride on accountability from the club, the fans and media for way too long,he is now accountable and he doesn't like it,too freakin bad Tim,welcome to the world every other coach is in,I for one will be glad to see the back of you, after watching you try the same crap with the national team on saturday I am so glad you are out of here.
@Snodgrass said:Good luck to you Tim … The club has treated you shabbily ... Squeeze every last dollar out of the bludgers and if I were you I'd be raiding the stationary cupboard on the way out ... those orange staplers are wonderful stocking fillers for the kiddies.
The board ummmmed and arrggghhhed before sacking him ... They were clearly not sure how they were going to afford it. They couldn't find a suitable answer to this conundrum and decided to sack him anyway ...
WT board = Rank Average
@Tigerpete said:Got to admit, whilst not surprised for one moment. I'm pretty dissapointed at Sheens for the alleged legal action in regards to his payout. As many have already suggested. For a guy who seemed pretty happy to treat a contract like toilet paper when it came to players. It's kind of hard to take now that the shoes on the other foot and he's not happy.
I'm not surprised by this and the truth is he is entitled to do so, but it's hardly paints him in a good light really. I did have sympathy for him previously but not now. Basically he screwed with players contracts like it was okay but when it happened to him he didn't approve? Sorry tim, go jump!
@LaT said:It would have been more average to allow Sheens to stay as head coach given the way things ended up. Saying "oh well can't get rid of him, lets just hope for the best" would have been much worse.
It was a gamble to demote him, hoping he would either quit outright or take another job elsewhere, but it still needed to be done.
Would you have kept Sheens on as head coach in this situation?

Yup!
The position only became untenable once Heighington and Ryan went south and the players took over the asylum.
Sheens was getting on with the job … Whilst everyone else stood around picking their noses.
Humphreys with his top draw of unsigned contracts, the players with their sub standard season deciding who should stay and go, the board scratching at their collective dandruff working out how to keep Benji and Robbie happy without sending the joint broke ...
So yeah, LaT ... I'd have stuck solid.
The board and the CEO needed to make a stand against the poor little rich kids, supported the coach who had two thirds of a size-able contract to run and put players on notice.
**As it is now ... The new coach will have to run every decision past Benj and Robbie to make sure it doesn't put anybodies nose out of joint before implementing anything.** The admin office has shown great weakness and the mouth guard chewers have tasted blood ... The culture could head anywhere from here

Wouldnt you be needing to produce a profit of some sort?
That doesnt occur often in this game
