Blokes like Payne and Galea aren't under contract anymore. We can't give Bradford a player we have no contract with.

I think the most likely prospect for a player swap would be Payten, given that he's already talked about heading overseas.

He's only on a $40k contract though so that won't really free any money up for Burgess. Payten probably wouldn't want to go, but he's on a decent contract and would be the logical choice…Then again we have brain explosion Bryce who could do with a stint overseas to wisen him up.

Dont think it's an issue of freeing up space as far as Laurie goes…....It would be more giving Bradford a player as a way of securing Burgess...

Besides according to Bug we are 350K to 400K in the black as far as 2010 goes.....

They way Gibbs went this year makes me want to see him in our jumper again next year......I know I almost cant believe it either......go figure...
 
That and lets be realistic. Gibbs would have no chance of obtaining a working Visa given his convictions

Yeah, Gibbs certainly pulled his weight for once in the go-forward department. Back to Laurie though, do you think he would be the type to go to England though?

Correct me if im wrong but hasnt Laurie had criminal issues in the past??? So that would almost certainly rule him out for a UK Visa as well..

after sheens spiel on 2sm it looks like burgess aint coming because he is not i repeat not an eighty minute playing englishman. key word being englishman.

I doub't sheens would get on radio and talk the value of someone up who hasn't signed with the club.
 
It now seems Manly are back in the hunt and it is a two horse race between them and the rabbits for his services, and let me tell you Manly dont loose too many two horse races. So I think you can take it as gospel we are out of the race, I also got the message from Sheens 2sm interview that their will be no big fish snapped up for next year. Also could be a big smoke screen

Gareth Ellis was the last one. But I sincerely doubt Burgess will be with any NRL team in 2010.

Orford had to take a paycut just to stay at the Eagles. If their key playmaker has to drop 100K a season just to guarantee his trade for the next three years, what hope do they have of attracting a player from abroad on top dollar?

Supercoach, we all should know by now that Sheens doesn't give much away. A key signing could still be in negotiation and kept out of the limelight. Lets just hope we're not chucking a Sharks and paying a has been overs to underperform. If I was on the Sharks board I swear I'd have Ben Ross on theft charges…
