Exactly, Burton twice the player Doeuhi is and didn’t have a sook and sit out when asked to move.

As much as I hate them, they at least have standards.

For Sam Fainu, I worry he will leave or we will pay massive overs and he will just regress being with us. He has potential, but for us, I’m not so sure it’s worth the absolute top dollar if we can’t get the best out of him.

I think he’ll play origin in 1-2 years and we need to sort our halves to get him going. Hopefully we match legitimate offers and only lose him if a team goes way overs, which PNG probably would.

I’d like to think we would too, but he like every other player in the team has regressed and don’t know if he will reach his potential with us.

Our coaching is horrendous

None of us know for sure what’s going on there. Something shifted recently and it ain’t good.

Fair enough, each to their own.

He’s done for me, I see him as one of the most selfish players to play for our club and one of the main reasons for our continued crappyness.
We will never get off the canvas until we are team Tiger and not team Doobie.

Anyway there’s another thread for this.

Somebody do us all a favour and get big Sam over the line.
Both contractually and literally.
Get him the ball early and back him up.
 
Ive seen rumours that samuela wont be signing until the ban of his manager is lifted. That ban doesnt lift until 18th of December. So I guess that means theres a chance he goes to the open market november 1 and PNG get to make the offer of a lifetime. They are desperate for forwards and Samuela could play prop or backrow.

Or nothing happens until then because , he wants his manager in the room for price of mind he hasn’t missed anything .
I can’t see anyone under the age of 25 going to PNG . They will be dad’s army . Nearly to a man everyone they’ve signed have all won premierships or had high achievements in the game . Where as moving to a holiday camp is enticing .
Young single men will go mental there / the drinking culture will be outrageous . Just look at Mitchell at in Darwin on any Friday and Saturday night and have a good look around …. Only take away Mitchell st , and add one probably well guarded nightclub /bar/pub within perimeter and attended by mostly expats either in mining or now nrl and those who hang on.
I cannot see too many single men going there . You have to remember what it was like when you were 22 , getting amongst it .
Any players they do , will be getting out of their contracts early , at the very least .

The unconfirmed rumour is he (Samuela) is wanting us to pay him somewhere around 900k to re-sign with us.
Currently there are 4 exceptionally talented edge back rowers off contract at the end of 2027 / Jacob Preston, Tallis Duncan, Samuela Fainu and Salesi Foketi) and I would guess the market value and impending salary cap increase will mean all 4 of them can demand much bigger money than they were getting previously.
So we really need to get an answer from Samuela soon as we would ideally need to make a move on one of the others I have listed above if he is not willing to re-sign with us.

For that money, Preston and Duncan are more likely as they are consistent.

I would take either and shift Samuela to prop if WT can keep him too. He has the mongrel to dominate opposition middles that we otherwise lack, plus he is able to make halves look inside for threats too.

That said, happy to keep him on the left edge without another option, though I would want to see his height and abilities in the air utilised more when there too.
