Shannon Gallant signs with NQ Cowboys

Sad indeed….The Mouse can hold his head high.....

Wish him all the best in North Queensland....Our loss is their gain for sure...

Carve Up Mighty Mouse........

Good on you Shannon. You have made a very smart decision. The Tigers have treated you like garbage, you owe them nothing.

What an absolute disgrace.

I am sure MM would've stayed with the Tigers if someone from the club sat him down and said…"mate the #1 jersey is yours for 2010 it's up to you to keep it"...Thats for the memories MM in my opinion you are a great FB in the making...I hope you told the boys to run back as hard as you do from kick returns...

Good decision by the club. We need to focus our resources on quality. If the supporters want marquee signings than we can waste money and average players. Unfortunately for Shannon I have a feeling his career will go nowhere up North. The club has a history of buying player surplus to its requirements.

Yeah like signing two reserve grade centres/fullbacks when we already had a decent one named Shannon Gallant.

not real happy, especially now that it would appear we won't have Moltzen in the halfback spot….

Lazarus could be half, Moltzen fullback (which he is not), Lui to 5/8, Benji to the centres. What a backline.

yeah maybe col, bit tired with all the experimentation though… things were going quite well with Moltzen at half, benji at 5/8 and Gallant at the back, would have preferred keeping those halves and promoting someone else to the fullback spot, which is what we should have done with the Parra and Titans games

More than likely for next year though we'll see
1: Moltzen
6: Benji
7: Lui

While I am sorry to see him go, it is premature to judge the club and Sheens until we see the full 2010 playing roster. Would we be complaining if we signed Lote or a high quality prop? If that meant that Shannon had to go then I could accept that. I think like most organisations WT have to balance the budget and their funds are limited thus hard decisions are made.

Let's wait and see what the signings are before we start burining effigies!

he signed to play reserve grade behind Bowen??

great now sheens has his fullback thats our halfback for next year

Mate is you're suggesting that by letting MM go it frees up $$$ to buy a top notch player your kidding yourself aren't you…MM probably was offered no more than $50-$60k for 2010...peanuts!

How braindead is this place…..we send Hodgo packing ,whom has been the best player in the ESL, because some dope in this club considered the two Shannons ,Gallant and Macdonnel as the direction we needed to go......guess what 3 months later Macdonnel is sent packing to newcastle now Galant has been released...and some wonder why we constantly shake our heads at the decisions made by our decision makers :unamused:

Fair point Alexaki but I wasn't suggesting that it would be a one-to-one swap. Perhaps that 60K might let us make an offer of 300k rather than 240K which would allow us to seal a better player. As i suggested, I don't like shannon leaving us but am willing to wait and see what the roster will be before I pass judgement

Sad to see him go but if North Queensland offered him alot more money then I don't blame him for going.

Thankyou for playing well for the Wests Tigers and the Western Suburbs Magpies.

Seeing Mighty Mouse at Ashfield Mall getting his picture taken and signing autographs with so many kids when he and the club knew he is not going to be there in 2010, is very poor form :imp: If you are doing that kind of PR, at least ensure the players are sure to be there the following year, at least!!! :unamused:

I spoke to Gallant this morning at Ashfield Mall. He was disappointed with the reaction from some people regarding his signing. He said heaps of people on the web have called him a dog , however he knows he has given the tigers his all. He wanted to remain, though needed to consider his family. He's also not ready for the workforce yet, and this is a good chance for him to make a future. He also spoke about how he is looking forward to learning from Matty Bowen, as Matty is his idol. Finally said the deal was done a few days ago but he had to keep it quiet. Overall, he seemed saddened, and I feel sorry for him as it's disgusting for anyone to question his loyalty or decision.

On a side note, poor form Tigers to ask Shannon to front up for a public appearance on the day his decision has been announced. Credit to Shannon though, not many players would have shown up. Also, poor form for not censoring some of the comments on the 'official' blog. Pretty hypocritical to choose not to display comments shown in a negative light regarding their crappy site, but allowing comments of their ex-players to run uncensored .

anyone who calls Gallant a dog for doing what he did deserves to be shot.

Good luck to you MM!

i hope daniella & brown live up to sheens's expectations…..

Yeh>?
Reportedly x3 what the Tigers offered PLUS a job for his missus lined up.

Where was the money offer of 3 times more dollars reported…..

So are you saying WT offered min 50K and North Queensland 150K

No brainer of a decision for Gallant then.....
