Good on you Shannon. You have made a very smart decision. The Tigers have treated you like garbage, you owe them nothing.

What an absolute disgrace.

I am sure MM would've stayed with the Tigers if someone from the club sat him down and said…"mate the #1 jersey is yours for 2010 it's up to you to keep it"...Thats for the memories MM in my opinion you are a great FB in the making...I hope you told the boys to run back as hard as you do from kick returns...

He was signed for next year. He has yet to prove himself as a consistent 1st grader, let alone our number one choice.

He got told there'd be a fight on his hands, and he couldn't handle it.

I feel sick.

Shocking decision by the mangement and one that will come back to haunt us. He has the talent to be the next Matty Bowen up there and I wouldn't be surprised if, after carving up behind JT for a few months that Matty finds it very hard to get his no.1 jersey back. IMO Bowen may well be past it anyway. Shannon is a wests junior, he loves this club and his passion for it was obvious on and off the field and yet he was treated with disdain.

In reality he was never given a fair go here. He should have been first choice fullback this year after the great from he showed at the end of 2008\. Again this year he showed more in 5 odd games than Moltzen has shown in 20 (at fullback) and yet Sheens still somehow wasn't convinced. Moltzen has unlimited potential as a half but if he plays fullback for us next year we will fail again. He will never be a fullback.

I am at a loss and after missing the finals again this kick in the teeth was not what I needed. Excuse me while i go throw up.

For whatever reason Sheens has NEVER,ever rated Gallant,& he has ranked well back behind the Moltzens,MacDonnells & probably Lazarus had he been fit…in fact, just about anyone!
Not sure what the kid had to do to prove himself of 1st grade quality, but for once Im really glad to see a talented player leave the club as he'd been treated so contemptously by the coach, which was obviously reflected in the relative $$ offers by us vs the Cowboys.
At his age he couldnt afford to wait out Sheens, although it may be touch & go...
Hope he carves 'em up

I think Mullaney is in the plans as the long term fullback.

As for Gallant, good luck to him, if he plays well enough in his first month or so for the Cowboys, I can see them keeping him at fullback and shifting Bowen to 5/8.

If he grew 10cm and put on 10-15kg over the summer, then yes. The guy is tiny (but bloody good! )

Been expecting this for awhile. Maybe not NQ, but anywhere but WT basically. Writing has been on the wall for a long time. I've already moved on and accepted it. Good luck next year Shannon. Knock em dead.

I really hope they haven't made a massive error here. I just worry that we will regret the day we let Gallant leave.

Good luck to you Shannon.

Reportedly x3 what the Tigers offered PLUS a job for his missus lined up.

Where was the money offer of 3 times more dollars reported…..

So are you saying WT offered min 50K and North Queensland 150K

No brainer of a decision for Gallant then.....

50k ?

No idea who wrote that article, but a bit of misleading information is contained.

Not going to go into it on here… it's done now... good luck to Shannon.

Time to move on....

Good for you Shannon when we settle down our first priority is the future of our family…If your getting more $$ up there great. Thanks for the few games you played with us as I like to see passion in people and you have that! Good Luck to you ..get away from Sheens as far as you can your future was only going to be Butchered.

Maybe Shannon saw the writing on the wall…

1\. Lote
2.Ryan? Hanbury?
3.Ayshford
4.Lawrance
5.TNT
6.Benji
7.Moltzen

Good luck to Shannon up in Nth Qld. At the end of the day he has to look after his family so I wish him all the best.

I don't blame him for going and I don't blame the club either. I guess the sun and the moon couldn't line up for both Shannon and the club. Just one of those things. I wish Shannon all the best.

I spoke to Gallant this morning at Ashfield Mall. He was disappointed with the reaction from some people regarding his signing. He said heaps of people on the web have called him a dog , however he knows he has given the tigers his all. He wanted to remain, though needed to consider his family. He's also not ready for the workforce yet, and this is a good chance for him to make a future. He also spoke about how he is looking forward to learning from Matty Bowen, as Matty is his idol. Finally said the deal was done a few days ago but he had to keep it quiet. Overall, he seemed saddened, and I feel sorry for him as it's disgusting for anyone to question his loyalty or decision.

On a side note, poor form Tigers to ask Shannon to front up for a public appearance on the day his decision has been announced. Credit to Shannon though, not many players would have shown up. Also, poor form for not censoring some of the comments on the 'official' blog. Pretty hypocritical to choose not to display comments shown in a negative light regarding their crappy site, but allowing comments of their ex-players to run uncensored .

Yeh, great work Tigers.
Things like this make me ashamed to be associated with this ''club''

You mean to tell me people still read the official site?

That's disgraceful if anyone questioned the bloke like that. He gave his all for this club and got very, very little back in return.

I'll never forget him kissing the Magpie crest or the way he added much needed attacking speed to the number 1 jersey.

Good luck Shannon. Go and slay them up there.

Huh?

"It was a tough decision as the Wests Tigers have looked after me and made me a good offer for 2010 but I feel like I need a new start with the Cowboys."

**Gallant is an idiot**

If a job for the MRs is 'lined up' via the club, then this is a salary cap issue.

Good luck to him. It was his decision. He said the club looked after him and made him a good offer. We have plenty of talent at the back. I really hope the kid turns out to be a star for the cowboys.
