@weststigers what do you think of gold miners at the moment? I'm holding a couple, NST and KLA.
I tend to stay away from mining companies unless they are producing, but even then, I view them as trading stocks that need to be watched in line with the resource price - it's always a nail biter when an announcement comes out because it's so reliant on a couple of factors. It's too stressful for me.
Gold is high right now due to global issues, so if you've made some profit, maybe shave off your initial investment and let some the profit ride?
NST (Northern Star) seems to have made a good acquisition recently which people seem optimistic about - that optimism is built into the current share price. If an announcement is slightly off expectations, then it'll dump as you know.
Not sure of KLA (Kirkland Lake Gold). Seem to have also made a good acquisition, but same as NST - it all depends on what's happening on the ground. It's hard to gauge until an announcement comes out.
Depends what your objective is...if it's buy and hold long term, then mining stocks aren't my favourite. If you buy in at low entry points, then wait for the resource price to recover (as in, right now) to sell, then the volatility is your friend.
Just my 2 cents
