Shawn Blore #235

yeah … no evidence .., but I’m pretty sure he could have been a first grade player here for the next couple of years …looking at most of the other numpties that remain

it’s interesting that Bellamy … the best coach of the NRL era sees something in him and the brains trust here doesn’t
It depends how Bellamy intends to use him.
For starters, it’s unlikely he even coaches him isn’t it?

yes possibly… but he is said he was leaving before and stayed on “one more year”…

Being the control freak he is… I’m sure he has made the decision on Blore

He may go there and become a good 15 minute impact player.
That doesn’t suit our needs but may be beneficial to their system.
Sometimes you have to cut your losses and move on to a new project. We have some good kids coming through.

Let’s wait and see .. we don’t know what his ceiling is… he has really been derailed by injuries so I’ll be interested to see how he goes… I wouldn’t be surprised if he turns out an above average player ..

but now the decision has been made .. I’d be open to see if they can move him on early for a different player ( not Olam)…

Yeah for sure.
Our attention turns to one of the young guys now and hopefully we unearth another Pole.
Shaun may go on to do well at Storm and if he does 👍🏼.
We’re not in the position to take the risk.

I think he will start in the backrow for MLB and have time to fit into MLB style of play something the tiger's haven't given him was as good if not better in the limited opportunity's than ice or Bateman on the edge in my opinion and to add to that when he was pushed into the middle again he was as good if not better than most of our middles bad decision tiger's

Traditionally we would have an energizer bunny cover for us.
Liam Fulton
Bryce Gibbs (at times, not a fan)
Elijah Taylor
Ryan Matterson

We can't defend that way anymore. The scramble doesn't work in the modern game because they see someone is out of their position and gassed.

As for rotating them, my thoughts is our fitness guys need to pump Bateman a bit harder but heck. Try it.
Would probably be helpful if Bateman got an injury free full pre-season in with us.

I assume that he is is home for Christmas but does anyone know when he might be back at pre-season training?

To be completely honest, I was never in favour of signing him even though he brings competitiveness and enthusiasm to the side I think he is beyond the point of being able to provide the sort of X factor that this team desperately needs.

I can't really see him being here for the full term of his contract.

Blore weakness is his body.
He has the ability to be a regular NRL player.
We gave him a lifeline NRL wise not once but twice, the Storm came in and he needed to sure up his long term future. We probably wanted to see how he holds up over the course of the season which don’t think is unreasonable.

Good luck to him and wish him the best, don’t blame the Wests Tigers for not extending him.

I just hope if we swap him early it’s on our terms & that due diligence on Olam is done. Olam shouldn’t cost him more than his current deal (he isn’t worth it). He also hasn’t been to NRL training for nearly 9mths now (outside of maybe 1-2 days called up a week late in the season) & isn't getting younger. Off field should check things out also. Have said it a few times but Olam has BJ vibes about it for me - his best is past him.

Agree with the last sentence. I think he’s the type who will blend in, not stand out.

The only thing I will say… Did the Tigers even want to keep him? They could have e extended him months ago before the Storm were even interested in him …

You say that they “did all they can to keep him” … which was what exactly?
I’m led to believe Wests Tigers made very competitive offers to extend his contract and Benji made it clear he was well in his NRL plans if he decided to remain with the club.
Now he has decided to depart, it leaves very little choice other than to try and do a swap deal to release him early and hopefully get somebody of use in return.

there has never been any news that they have made him an offer so I remain skeptical…

he also publicly said in July that he wanted to stay here and there was crickets from the club at that time…

No need to panic and take anybody… if they won’t offer someone of value then they can take him in 2025…plenty of other players play out their final year before moving on

I was hoping Shawn Blore would remain a Wests Tigers player for many years ahead and I believe he will go on to become and very good NRL player, so disappointing to know he’s leaving.
I have no doubt Wests Tigers done all they can to keep him, we stood by him through injury riddled seasons and waited patiently for him to mature and develop into the quality player he has long promised to be.
Reading between the lines I don’t think anyone should be blaming Wests Tigers for his departure, he was star struck by strong interest from the Storm and good luck to him I’m certain he will go very well for them.
Nobody is bigger than the club itself, so as always one players departure is an opportunity waiting for someone else.
They didn’t do anything. They told him to leave mid last year and look elsewhere, so he did. Then tigers told him again you’re free to go as we want Olam but now it’s turned into a big hunt for Luai. Lost Blore, no Olam and who knows if Luai will happen. Well down Tigers for another fail.

Spencer Lenui at the start of the 2023 season knew it was his last at Penrith and had his best season there yet…

No way. Watch Blore kill it under Bellamy and in the storm system. They don’t have a circus down there..
