So your saying the way to improve an under performing team is to buy players from nsw cup. Makes sense.

Yep. Just like Taupau.

And you think they're all going to end up like Taupau?

No but I think its safer to buy players where we are weak and to look for smart purchases. I think Blair was a terrible signing and he was considered the best backrower in the world.

Seve has been moved to right side in nyc to get him ready I assume. So if no more recruits backs likely to be 1\. Tedesco 2\. Nofo 3\. Seve 4\. Simona 5\. Kev.

I'd prefer
1\. Tedesco 2\. Nofo 3\. Idris 4\. Seve 5\. Simona

If all you do is buy NSW cup players, you'll always be at the bottom of the ladder. You need to take risks and splash out. No club has become a top 4 signing on the back of that kind of recruitment track record.

I dont think anyone is saying to exclusively buy players from State Cup.

Youre defending the supposed pursuit of Idris, Pauli and Tuopo like you approve of this direction?

I don't see Tupou and Pauli as bad signings. Idris would have to be on reduced money. All 3 have potential under the right circumstances. We need to sign some first graders for a change.

You dont think that all 3 are inconsistent and have issues with their mental approach?

Seems like they would fit right in with the players we already have. No real improvement to our club culture or leadership group. Just more hit and miss.

So is it the Roster or the Coach,,,?

Its the club, its the culture, its the lack of accountability, its the inexperience of the roster but it is without a doubt also the coach.

Players have simply not improved under his coaching.

You would have to be a fool to think he can improve Idris, Pauli or Toupo.

And if he cant improve them they are useless over priced buys who will set this club back ala Wayne Pearce and his open cheque book.

The only one id say for sure would be Idris. On crap money he might get a reality check and switch on. Pauli has discipline problems and can make some mistakes, but he has good impact, hopefully a coach with half a brain can guide him in the right direction. As for Tupou, does he have issues with his attitude? I haven't noticed.

Its both. Taylor has been terrible. Ideally you would sack him but if you can't we all have to pray that he improves significantly. We also need some players especially in the outside backs.

Watching last nights Cowboys v Dragons game and thinking what a difference someone like Kane Linnett would make to our undersized , out of position, poor tackling centres. Until we buy someone we will be targeted there. I suspect we'll see it again tomorrow night,

Agree razor,we need a quality centre who can take it up to the opposition in attack and defence and help the younger guys through a game…

In most of the Parra games that I have seen. Pauli looks like the laziest forward that I can remember in a long time. Maybe with a coach like Bennett he may come good as he won't put up with that , but under Taylor?????? He'll probably get lazier. Players can get away with any sort of crap here, that's not going to change

I agree with that TT, but I think we need two centres. Two years ago we had two of the best finishers in the game, but with all the injuries, as well as coaches stuffing around, now we have a crap centre, and a slightly better one,
Move Simona and Nofo back to the wings where they excell, and look for centres
Another famous quote fromTaylor was "We won't be playing players out of position "

I like the idea of Nofa and Simona on the wings with Marion Seve and Dale Copley in the centres . Copley has to be better then Idris.

Agree with you GCT - move Simona and Nofo back to the wings.

We can't do it now unfortunately because we don't have any centres (not true technically), we do, none with experience though. We have Seve, Milone etc. but that will bring more inexperience to an inexperienced team.

Brooks, Moses, Tedesco, Simona, Seve, Kevy or Milone and Nofa or similar - whilst may end up good in the future would be cut to pieces at the moment.

Someone mentioned Linnett - he is not a great centre but he is a good experienced centre - whilst maybe not him specifically someone similar who would bring actual centre play to the backline and the experience to help a backline of young players finding their way. I mentioned last week in another thread that Ware was off contract and then had to watch him cut us to pieces. It is those type of centres we need to look at when coin becomes available. There not Marque players but we don't need a Jennings or a Morris (too expensive anyway). In the future if you had the forwards going forward, Brooks and Moses( a little more experience) setting up a Ware or a Linnett (type of centre) with Teddy chiming in and Simona and Nofa outside of all this - how many backline defences would keep them out?

Pretty sure just about everyone agrees we need at least one centre and maybe two - I suggest not from the NSW Cup as we need experience. If we can only afford one then Seve probably is the answer - unless you make do with Simona as one, buy another and fill the wing spot with Delouise or …..

Just my take on this - however as we have no coin we will have to wait.

I wouldn't write off Simona and or Nofoaluma as centres just yet

Until they have some quick , hard running wingers outside and both Nofoaluma and Simona get quality ball from their halves we just don't know and we can't really judge

The big thing about having quality centres is that it turns Tedesco into a completely new , dangerous beast and opposition defences can't sit on him

I think Simona is a gun centre. He can play wing just as well but he goes real good in the centres as well.

Its been a rough initiation but Nofoaluma has plenty of scope for improvement.

He needs time with the team on the training paddock and time with the team out on the field. this will help with his positioning. He hasnt had a chance with his injuries.

Every other ability you want from a centre he already has.
