Should laurie be brought back for the parra game?

NO. I'd rather have Woodsy or a Fifita brother from the 20's.

I am not saying Laurie should be picked, I am merely addressing some incorrect perceptions of him as a player. From what I saw, he is having a dig. However what confuses me is that I read he was sent to the lower grades to learn how to play as a back rower, yet the Magpies pick him in the front row. Anyone???

Now that Skando is likely to be ruled out, he should be replaced with the next best front rower in the club. If Laurie is that player, then he should be selected. We cannot replace Skando with another second rower, we will get monstered.

Would think he would be ahead of Daine …ATM

Laurie was pathetic against the Wolves the week he was dropped, still pathetic in defence against Newtown....He is far from the next best Prop at the club currently...I would have Betham, Gower and Stolk ahead of him...IMO

Smeg, with all due respect, Al Scirnack is a powderpuff compared to a reasonably in form Daine Laurie. Al does his best and doesn`t do anything wrong, but he has fairly minimal impact, we already have our fair share of forwards who have minimal impact, we need to find a couple who will provide impact and line breaking ability if we are to be a chance of winning this competition.

I'm a huge Laurie fan but mate the way he is going at the moment you couldnt give him the call up. He's been disciplined for missing a session and he is not even bending the line or providing impact against 'pub packs' for Wests how would you expect him to do it in the NRL. Ive got a feeling that Sheens will call him up late as a surprise selection and I hope it sparks him up because at the moment he is wasting his talent.

I like Laurie, but I think he's a big risk at this stage considering the position we're in. From all reports he's way out of form even in State Cup.

Schirnack is a better bet, goes hard and although he won't win a game, he won't lose one either.

Fair enough mate. Each to there own.

Replacing Skando with an impact player would not have been my choice though. If used properly Al does a very similar job to Skandalis and is a very good defender.

The big difference is when Laurie gets smashed in a tackle he looses his head or goes missing. Al won't. He will keep doing his job which is what we need against Parra.

At the moment Laurie is just a gimick like the Wolfman. All hair and restricted substance

Daine Laurie has already proved he will fight fire with fire at first grade level when needed, Al Schirnack hasn`t grabbed me at first grade level just yet, but he`ll get his acid test against the Eels on Friday night as we`ll be needing him to stand up to the Eels pack who will no doubt try and intimidate our forwards !

Fair enough.

Just going on State Cup though I have seen Latimore make a fool out of Laurie every time they have faced off. Laurie came up with some big hits and a handfull of quality runs but was definatley the loser.

Schirnack always seems to hold his own.

If Laurie were to appear on the team sheet game day he would have my full voiced support though

Could very well be the making of aplayer such as Al Schirnack if he gets some decent game time and adds some real impact for us on Friday night. Gibbs and Payten are my real worries. When they are good they are really good, but i`ve seen them both go missing against strong opposing forward packs too many times in the past to be sure that they`ll both stand up and have a real go on Friday night, but god knows we need them to !

If its a close game say 2 points in it i would bring him on the last 30 mins of the game
If we are down by 10 points after 30 mins then bring him on and leave him on..

I expect the Tigers forwards to muscle up against the Eels. They will be looking to get off the line quick and nullify Moi Moi and co. My only real question is who do we throw in if Payne is ruled out? Do we throw in a young backrower like Dwyer or give someone like Akeripa a shot, or is Laurie included an hour before kickoff?

YES!

I have read all the comments, and sadly I can see the truth, he needs work, but geez hes exciting!

bring the kid back for 10 min spurts

Definitely not. I really never saw much amazing things from Laurie… he seemed slow, very bad ball control and a short fuse. Yes, there were games where everytime he touched the ball something would happen, but 9/10 it was not a good thing. Maybe next year he could grow into a more confident player, but not now, not at this stage of our season.
