Signing Rumours..

The "boys club" mentality is not the problem it is management always has been and still is We are suffering from years of inept management - to manage the cap and generate funds , to recruit quality players and coaching staff to support a great junior base - simple.

If the boys club some refer to are our local juniors - the day they decide that they dont want to play for this club either - aka Teddy Moses Woods Noffa Brooks etc then we will have a much bigger problem than we do now - because currently and in recent years they are about the only quality players who are committed to this club.
It is an absolute myth to suggest that we have a bigger problem with a boys club mentality than other clubs simply because we have players who are mates and enjoy playing together - it's the case in all clubs.
Just another overused label in the blame game to compensate for where the real problem lies - years of poor management.

This is mostly true. We don't though have a hangover from previous administrations. That is a lie that is constantly told in a corporate environment to provide and excuse for certain actions. All clubs have some backdated contracts etc.

We are in a good position.

Buzz has been deathriding Taylor & Go for a long time .

Does anyone believe Sirro was dropped for anything other than form on the field ?

What a load of rubbish, blind Freddy knew Siro did not deserve selection for most of last year. You would also hope the likes of Brooks and Moses are smart enough to know Siro's form did not warrant selection ahead of the guys already in the team. Anyway I guess now the Farah thing has gone the Siro thing will take over.

Play a team sport and you become mates, play through school and Jnr reps and then flow through the grades and you become a tighter group. That's not a Boy's Club, that's friendship.
This is the one of the downsides to developing players.
It's natural that they would want to continue playing together and be disappointed if one leaves.
This is just fodder for hack jerno's.

Siro being oppressed. I've heard it all now. Anyone who thinks there's more to Siro being dropped must not have watched him too closely. Regardless of what might be happening behind closed doors, his form for the last several years was justification enough to send him back to reserve grade. He needed a wake up call. And you can't blame his form on Taylor either, because he was equally average under Potter as well. Buzz trying to turn this into another Farah situation is hilarious.

Oh! and he is hack Journo.

I use the word "Hack" in the truest sense of the word.
I use the "Journo" in the loosest sense of the word.

Put both words together for buzz (doesn't deserve a capitol) and it spells D.. O.. P..E!!!!

A slight set back during the week but gutter journalism lives on.

I am starting to feel for Taylor and Go the vendeter that is being waged by this journo shows there are outside influences driving this agenda .
There has been and are in motion decisions that are being put in place to move this club forward and certain types do not like it.
Sironen is a hack and his demotion was well over due .

I think we jump the gun a little too much here.

Rothfield may not like the tigers, a lot of things may be fiction not just about the tigers but other teams in general. And i hate his bias towards Cronulla, but where there is smoke there is fire.

The issue may not be about not playing Sironen in first grade it may be simply about development, communication etc that none of us on this forum see as we sent in the inner sanctum of the club

I believe Sironen had to go along with Farah but bagging journalists on what we believe is unproductive when we as readers may not understand the true extent of any issues.

I would LOVE to hear how Siro has been "mistreated". Whatever anyone's position re Farah, I agree it's clear as day Siro got dropped after very many opportunities because he just wasn't cutting it. And in reggies he really hasn't done much to warrant a recall.

I would love to hear the so-called "mistreatment". Maybe it's a chapter in the book of dirty secrets that Sam Ayoub apparently has locked away in his filing cabinet.

Actual journos must loathe his type.

Personally I don't rate Taylor and I don't think the Tigers will win anything under him. But if the club has started down this line it has to go through with it, if only to have the foundations in place that a subsequent, competent, coach can exploit.

To be honest I'm not sure there's a single player on the current roster who's going to be there when the Tigers next win a premiership, other than - injuries permitting - Tedesco. Sorry, that's probably not quite accurate: outside of Tedesco, I have serious doubts that there's anyone on the roster around whom a premiership winning side will be built at the Tigers. So TBH I don't really care who sulks or refuses to re-sign.

Frankly, if getting Sironen's terrible contract off the books means Moses spits the dummy I don't care. I'm nowhere near convinced Moses is going to be worth whatever his next contract pays him anyway - he's capable of amazing plays but he doesn't control games and makes some shocking errors. I've always liked Brooks more as a long-term prospect but I don't think the Tigers are going to get it out of him - he'll probably go on and be amazing somewhere else. I really rate Woods but he's clearly at his peak now and won't be as effective in the three or four years (minimum) it'll take to make this club genuinely competitive. And the rest of them are makeweights - some are solid first graders but there isn't one that isn't entirely replaceable with some cap space and a half-decent recruitment policy.

So, yeah: the quicker the Tigers can really burn it down and start again, with cap room, the better. The reason this 'rebuilding' period isn't working is that they haven't properly committed to it. Look at Penrith or Canberra: if you're not a club blessed with lots of resources to deploy "outside the cap" you have to get really bad to get good. Strip it all away, and stop pretending the next mid-priced signing is going to be the one that turns a mediocre to poor team into a good one.

Yeh they'll say he was fearless, wasn't afraid to call it as it is… Had an opinion blah blah much like we saw this week
Funny how we don't call grubs grubs and biches biches once they pass

It's a Rothfield article - why are we giving any credence to it? No doubt he's still gloating (and probably still half cut) after his beloved Peptides, oops I mean Sharks, finally won a comp and is now on the lookout to rub salt into the wounds of other clubs, dredging up dirt and embellishing stories, trying to make Cronulla look squeaky clean and acting like he actually knows something!

Gotta love this line - **_One Wests Tigers insider told me: “If you thought Robbie Farah was treated badly, wait until Curtis tells his story.”_** Yeah right!

What's the worst thing Siro could say?

''My old man criticized the coach so i got dropped. Even though i should have been dropped at least 12 months earlier because i was coasting off the reputation i made for myself in the junior grades''?

Sirro the most over hyped and overrated of our so called great Juniors..Sirro should all take a leaf out of Mitchell Moses book and see what the definition of realising potential means..

About time someone had the guts to clean out the dead wood players in the joint….and to think Sirro exercises his option to stay until 2018..

It was an act of desperation. Most players who've played the same amount of games he has at his age would have probably seen the writing on the wall and found another club. He obviously couldn't and had no choice but to take up an option at the club he has no future at. Things will have to change drastically for him to be a regular in first grade next yr imo.
