Signing Rumours..

Will be sad to see Siro go…his development was messed up a little by moving him straight from a half to a back rower. Maybe he will find his feet at Manly and become the powerhouse his Dad was....then hopefully comes back to Tigers!

The only thing that has held Sironen back is his lazy attitude plain and simple ..IMO he has reached his potential .Will see him playing with the rest of these types in the ESL soon after his short stint at Manly.

Sirro is one of the guys that has promised so much but not delivered. I would be a little disappointed if he left but it may well be best for both parties. He hasn't found his feet at NRL level and is on big money but it wouldn't surprise me to see him go elsewhere and turn into a star.

Sirro just doesn't seem to have any mongrel or aggro in him for some reason, that is what is holding him back IMO. If he used his sizeable frame to run hard at the line and smash blokes in defence then he would realize his potential, have seen him shoved around or easily put down by too many small blokes on the field for a big man. He needs to find some hardness in his game.

Would be more than happy to let him go to Manly. We obviously need never-say-die blokes on our roster, particularly in the pack. Blokes that just plod along and only put in when it suits need to be weeded out of our club.

Sironen's potential has never been realized and so at this stage his move is no loss - he barely featured for us anyway. But geez can't they take Lovett instead?

You need to move on the ones playing NSW Cup that are on big money, not the ones sitting at the bottom end of the top 25.

Not sure I understand what you mean….

Seen Siro do some great things, but it is only in very short stints than he just becomes invisible. Lacks intensity and energy. If we had a very strong pack you would probably keep him, but we need workers and big engines and he doesn't fit that bill

Getting rid of Sironen will save us around $500 k in 2018

That's a huge step for us , but will be too late to save Jason Taylor in my opinion

He is stuck with an inferior roster and will struggle in 2017

Tigers back-rower Curtis Sironen is considering a shock move to Manly after holding secret talks with the club.

lol, that move would shock absolutely nobody actually

If ever a player needed a change of environment it's Sirro. Still has plenty of time to develop into a great player unfortunately can't see it happening if he stays at the WTs.

i thought if given the chance that 2017 may have been the breakout year for sirro but doesn't look like it will be with us. like others have said the change may do him good.

I note that Bailey Sirro is off contract too so I assume that means we lose both

No i'm pretty sure Bailey is signed up for this 2017\. 2 year deal after NYC so next year would be included. Don't know why he'd go just because his brother did. They're competing for the same spots. Bailey has a better chance of first grade but can't seem to play more than 6 games without getting injured.

Sirro's taking up of his option just reeks of desperation. "I might not ever get another nrl contract so i need to take all the big bucks while i still can". Though if ET doesn't stay i can't see too many other players that could play lock other than Sirro. He could play like ET, make 40 tackles a game and ball play a bit, while not making a lot of metres in attack.

If Curtis goes to manly we're probably back in running for ET…..however he was dropped from the kiwi squad so he may be headed to roogby imo

Total guesswork on my part I admit, but I don't think we should assume moving Sironen would have any direct link to another signing. If he's on anything like what's been reported (A$500-600k) the club might - quite rightly - think that there's almost no way they couldn't deploy that money better.

If they can get him off the books without having to pay too much freight they ought to leap at the chance even before considering how to spend the cap space freed up. Frankly they could just stash it on the off chance a Hurrell type opportunity comes up mid-season (which it always does) and I'd be pretty happy with the outcome.

I noticed that he is on the media list as off contract. Agree with what you have said, however could Masters play lock?

No, not yet at least. Doesn't have great work rate. Perhaps training with the first grade boys will help him kick up a gear. Exclusively a second rower in my eyes. Not a prop, centre or lock.

Sue and Sirro would be our main options at lock if ET leaves, which i certainly hope he won't.

Hi all again,

Sorry to put a damper on the mood but I don't see either of Siro or ET staying. I don't have any info this is purely my opinion. Money will be the factors. WT are not going to pay overs, the only players they will be looking to pick up will be ones partly paid by other clubs. ET for 500 sounds like a bargain doesn't it for 50+ tackles a game and a bit of running. But then you look at what the Cowboys achieved with Taomlalouo on probably the same wage this year. ET just didn't offer anything like that in attack. We tried Sue earlier there, but his work rate couldn't pick up to do the role outside of short stints. Notice how we had ET in our side since panthers paid half of it, now that we have to kick in the full amount it just doesn't seem good value. If I was them I would offer ET 400k to stay, but even then I think that could be used better. I think we will see a very money ball type side being built over the next couple of years and with idris being signed on a fairly low value contract you could probably see him playing right side back row with Alloia playing as lock. Even then Chee Kam could find a home if idris doesn't turn out to be effective. With the extra money I would be doing what ever I can to sure up experienced hard heads, then save the rest for any mid season transfers. I just hope we don't continue on like the Dragons and Parra giving in to players demands.

We need Idris fit, which he apparently is and switched on playing right centre.

If the Titans want to get rid of greg bird is would sign him over et. He is a tougher, harder version of et who can do the same role….provided Gold Coast are paying a chunk of our salary.

He is a real competitor and experienced in big games and pressure situations could be just the leader we need. I live a few doors up from the Brunswick heads hotel where he supposedly got into trouble...,it was a beat up with the pub lying to cover up one of their bouncers king hitting one of the bucks party crew. It has been covered over because gyngell (channel 9) owns half the pub.

He's a thug. There's not many I wouldn't take here but he's definitely one of them.
