Signing Rumours..

I would target Vaughan, ET, Daniel Tupou, Damien Cook and we will challenge for a top 4 position.

That would be a great quartet to have, add Idris and they would balance out the team nicely. So in that case, we've no chance of getting them

Damien Cook has already asked the Bunnies for a release to replace Ennis at the Sharks on a reported $600,000 two year deal.

I can't see the club coming out and making any announcements until we are getting closer to the membership drive starting

If we do have multiple quality signings they will hope to push the memberships to record numbers

Makes perfect business sense

Iam sure your the money, they may make a announcement on a depth signing come state cup player but anything that is remotely quality will coincide with a membership drive

Vaughan set to sign with Dragons

THE DRAGONS look to have secured the services of bustling Raiders forward Paul Vaughan.

The hard-working forward is under contract for the 2017 season but the Raiders will not stand in his way of pursuing an opportunity with the Dragons.

Vaughan has struggled to crack the Raiders top 17 for much of the year and has attracted the attention of a number of rival clubs including the Tigers and the Knights. But the Country Origin representative has reportedly rejected their advances in favour of linking up with the Red V.

The deal is very close to being done with both parties just looking to finalise a few details. The move is expected to be announced in the coming days.

The 25-year-old is a great asset for any club as he possesses the ability to play big minutes both as a starter or as an impact player off the bench. He is also extremely versatile and can be effective both up the middle and on the edge as a hole runner.

The Dragons have demonstrated a tendency to poach players from the nation’s capital in recent years. Josh Dugan, Joel Thompson and Josh McCrone have all been signed in the past four seasons.

The club have also recently secured the services of hooker Cameron McInnes and in-form winger Nene Macdonald for 2017.

The big question for the club now centres on who will partner Gareth Widdop in the halves following the decision to part ways with playmaker Benji Marshall.

Young five-eighth Drew Hutchison is the front-runner for the position, however the club are in talks with free agent Todd Carney as first revealed by the RLW Mole.

I think you will find the club has a bit of cap for next year available. The subsidising of Farahs contract is no where near the reported figures of $750 to $800k that the crappy telegraph quote. I think you will find we are paying around the $550 to $600k mark.

So say souths are paying $350 to $400k, plus Halatua retiring who would of been on around the $250k mark, Addo Car around $150k and Cherrington $100k. There is spare cap money of around $850k to $900k.

So Elijah Taylor would be after $350k to $400k, Idris $200k and Vaughn $300k to $350k. Plus you have to consider a few small third party deals from the like of Harry for say $25k to $50k each and it could easily happen.

Doing those rough figures i think the club could have a good crack at re-signing ET and signing Vaughn and Idris. I think chucking in a fourth signing like Lichaa would be wishfull thinking.

Do you have any inside info on how much WT are subsidising Farah's contract next season MightyTiger or is it just a guess?
I don't know why that whole issue of Farah's contract and how much both Souths and WT are each paying towards it is such a closely guarded secret, it just adds to fans' frustration.

The only figure that I've seen anywhere is 750 big ones.
Have never seen any other,
Doesn't make it accurate , but it's been consistently reported. No denying it from the club.

How many people here would be willing to trade ET for Vaughn and Idris? I'd probably keep ET myself.

I would. We need more grunt and size. ET is good but steadily declined in form as the year went on.

i wouldnt even think about it. Id take fhem 2 any day of the week. They are just what we need.

Not sure what happened to ET. His back end of the year wS average. If he wasnt injured or stressed about contract talks then someone is not right. When he was linking with brooks we looked amazinf. Unless his role was changed by Mr Taylor.

Maybe the way he was used was part of his problem.
When he played his normal game he was good for the team, , but when he was trying to be a fix it man for different positions , he quickly went off the boil.

But, no worries
He's supposed to love this club, (after a handful of games). so he wouldn't think of going elsewhere….....would He?

They are stretching the truth by stating that Vaughn can play long minutes. Would highly doubt he has played much more than 40 mins in any 1st grade game he has played so far.
Would have loved to have him at WT as an impact player though. Not to be it seems if he is heading to the career graveyard that is the Dragons. Best of luck to him, he is going to need it.

If Zero Tackle is to be believed, Lichaa is on 350K next yr. You would assume the Dogs would subsidise some of that, lets say 150\. Now if its true that we've saved 450-500k on Farah next yr, that would just about be enough to land him and Idris. Not sure where that would leave ET.

Vaughn is been playing in a dominant forward pack for a few years. I like him as a player but he could turn into a plodder without having all the power players around him.

In saying that the Dragons are at least actively trying to improve their roster, McDonald from the Titians is a very good outside back and Vaughn is a lot better than most of their forwards.

Hope we can start addressing some of our weakness with some quality signings

There is some players around that we could use and I don't think it would be expensive
Carlin Anderson
Michael Oldfield
Nathan Green
Sam Tagataese
Matt Srama
Todd Carney I know but he is a great player on his day , he and Mosses combo incase Brooks leaves
Luke Burgess
Hymel Hunt
Feleti Mateo
Not sure if any have re signed with other clubs but could be some value there

Would look ar Anderson & Hunt. Pass on the rest. If looking for cheap and nasty fringe first graders or players past their prime I would consider this list:
Reimis Smith, Tony Williams, jacob Gagan, Lachlan Burr, Nathan Davis, Kierran Moseley, Blake Leary, Tautau Moga, Cameron King, Suaia Matagi, Zane Musgrove,

I wouldn't be wasting $$$$ as we have some good talent in the lower grades to bring up. Holding onto them is the problem as other clubs will start pinching them

I think they're also wary of announcing any signings now in case outraged fans go, "What? We swapped Farah for McIwrick?"

Not sure how reliable, but i heard that we are subsidising $500k. The $750k that keeps getting chucked around includes $250k that was owed to him previously. If that $250k has been included in 2016, then we have an extra $450k to play with
. With the players we have been reportdy been chasing this makes sense.

There was 200 backended for 2016 as well as for 2017 , the last two years of his contract.
Not just 2016\. Plus a 750 contract payment.
