So true.. We have to make our club a very attractive place to come to. To do this we need money, sucess, great culture and facilities. This will not happen over night, but I am confident Pascoe has us on the right path

I'm still not 100% sold on Pascoe…he says a lot of the right things but still comes across to me with to much corporate speak..there have also been a couple of things that make me think twice early on in his tenure....he certainly appears to be positioning the Club for the long term...but a lot of it we have heard before with a great deal of sugar-coating in hindsight..

We are entering a defining stage with increases in the Cap..we are in a better financial position off the field than we have ever been...Our core group of keepers are off-contract so it will be a big test for him so I hope you are right...

ENIGMATIC Bulldogs forward Tony Williams will try to resurrect his career at the Sharks next season, but he almost had a last-minute change of plans.

The Tigers came in with a late bid for the 27-year-old and Williams was tempted, but he went with the premiers.

The Sharks know they’re taking a gamble on Williams, who was paid so much but produced so little for Des Hasler at the Bulldogs.

He averaged only 55 minutes per game in 2016 and scarcely justified his cash but the man known as ‘T-Rex’ is on a far more modest deal at the Sharks and will be told in no uncertain terms that if he doesn’t perform, he’ll be playing in the NSW Cup.

Loyal fans are attractive.

**IMO we are the most loyal fans in the NRL. Maybe just beating Newcastle.**

**Playing in front of a packed Leicharddt Oval is also very attractive.**

Maybe if we crack into the top 8 in 2017 players would like to come to our club and be part of our future success. Along with the likes of Idris, Tedesco, Moses ect.

But agree. I think Pascoe does have us on the right path

When weighing up reasons to come here, i can assure you those 2 factors would be at the bottom of list of reasons why to come here. Players don't think about that stuff like supporters. They'll weigh up the money on offer and stability of the club on and off the field. Supporters and suburban grounds would be given a moment of consideration.

I think the second they would consider (after $) is the coach. We are not strong in that department.

I'm sure there is a lot that players weigh up - $$$ at top of list, coach, playing roster, training facilities,
stability and culture of club, professionalism, success ( immediate and future ). Fans and home ground would be a very distant last although playing in front of a packed Suncorp crowd would have more appeal than playing at Leichhardt.

Pascoe and co and still schackled by decisions by Mayer and co. Probably still will be until rf contract expires next year.

I don't see how people don't see this and cut Pasco and co more slack. People saying our current roster good enough to make finals ect.. We have been running on pennies compaired to bigger clubs last couple of years.

Too true. The club has done a great job over the past couple of years. In rugby league terms " you have to make the hard yards before you can score the tries".

It all comes down to signing Teddy, Moses, Woods and to a lesser extent Brooks. If we can get this done for between 2.5 - 3m we will be in a good position. WT can't commit coin until this is sorted out. Next year will be about resignings and the introduction of Paseka, Liddle, Marsters.

X3\. We'll still be minus 700k on the cap next year having to subsidise Robbies backended contract. Recruitment has been top notch considering the restrictions.

Let's just be honest - the decision to pay out Robbie is all on Taylor and the current admin. That isn't an excuse plus plenty of clubs would also have bad deals on their books.

Uh, it's on the board. Taylor doesn't execute those types of decisions, the board does.

I don't know how the Titans can even talk to Proctor and it pisses me off so much. This sport is a laughing stock. Proctor is contracted for another 2 years at the Storm and yet another club can offer him more money so he can try and pull out of his existing contract early! And then his current club (even if in this case it's the bloody Storm) get nothing.

If a club wants to sign another clubs player for more money, while they're under contract then fine, but that club should have to pay a transfer fee to that club, or offer them a player in return. No other sport has players dictating where they will play like league does! Trades/selling players is a normal part of almost every sport on the planet!

Just a tidbit from Mole

Taufua & Naiqama on the Wolves radar
>
Cashed up English club Warrington is raiding the NRL and has its sights on signing a classy outside back.
>
The Wolves are torn between two contenders – Manly winger Jorge Taufua and Tigers centre Kevin Naiqama.
>
Both are under contract for 2017 but would be released by their clubs under the right conditions.
>
Manly are chasing blokes left right and centre and need to shed players to avoid making the salary cap look a complete farce, while the Tigers are ready to cut Naiqama loose to sign Jamal Idris.

I'm pretty sure JT had a lot to do with that decision.

Anyway the point is that Taylor and the current admin of the club don't have excuses or reasons for not doing well.

Even taking into account Farahs $700k….....other clubs also carry forward contracts and even high money injured players.....eg RTS....he's on $1M a year at Warriors....played half a dozen games this year.
Every club has $500k to a $1M a year sitting on the sidelines and they still are not hamstrung putting a high value team on the park.

Should be no different for us.

Even Our highest paid players.....Moses,Teddy, Brooks pretty much played most of the season.....so we didn't have 3-4 key players on the sidelines for extended periods. All of our other players simona, nofo, Kevie and most of the forwards also played most of the year, so injuries were very friendly for us.

So if pretty much everything went our way........what can we expect if we have 3-4 bad injuries to key players.....finish dead last then ????????

700K huh..interesting figure…

Just guesstimate geo given some of the figures thrown about as to his last year payment and the Souths portion. Would be good to know how much we are hindered by this coming year.

Got any more info to share?

the titans seem to be able to do whatever the hell they want ever since the NRL took them over.

It's because Hayne is at the Titans.

Basically with our roster we need a great run from the injury gods and the bounce of the ball. No doubting we have some really exciting players but we also have our fair share of joe average plodders
