@Snake They don’t. But it’s delusional to think that 2 players, 1 who just signed a 5 year contract extension, and the other a 4 year contract, and appointed captain to boot, are suddenly going to be moved on. Not because they have contracts, but because of the regard in which the club obviously holds them. And the club’s opinion is not going to change less than 6 months later. Feel free to join the rest of us in reality at your own convenience.
 
Everyone is on Moses Mbye back but he is in the top 5 in "player in support" for the NRL and has a game in hand to the 4 above him.. If you watch him he is supporting all a time but doesn't get the ball as i think the players have been instructed to NOT push the pass. Once the confidence is up I believe they will start using him more in the middle.. Plus add his organising the defence at the back.. He is not the quickest but give him a chance.
 
In regards to Mbye you are only as good as your last game

Last season means jack at this stage and the fullback position is so important in the modern game

If he is struggling with injury ...rest him for two weeks and get him right
 
I don’t think Mbye was ever as good as people are saying. He averaged 110 metres per game with 6 tries and 7 try assists. Not great as last line of defence either. I’m comparison Teddy ran for 180 metres 9 try’s and 16 try assists.

Obviously Teddy’s a freak but some are alluring g to the fact Mbye was world class last year. He is at best a solid fullback.

I don't agree happy. Last season gives us an indication of what he is capable of. The fact that he hasn't replicated that form so far this year suggests something - not sure what though.

In any event, I don't recall Mbye getting the ball with any room to move so far this year. Every time he gets the ball he is confronted by a wall of defenders, even when he joins the backline as the extra man. Perhaps it's a problem with our attacking structures.
 
@TYGA Is that the stats over the whole season, Tedesco 9 tries and 16 TAs?

In that case I reckon Mbye is pretty good, 6 tries and 7 TAs in a disrupted season including a mid-season transfer from a rubbish side to a middle-ground side.

Tedesco on the other hand cruising in a backline so stacked that it essentially represents ANZ by itself. That's completely ignoring that Tedesco is already the best fullback in the comp, then you have him passing to guys like Latrell, Manu, Keary and Ferguson. Dead-set I reckon I'd get 16 try assists shuffling passes to those guys.
 
@WeHaveCheeKam I appreciate the effort but can we all agree not to say Player X is better than Player Y when X has player 100 games and Y has played 10?

CNK has always been a prospect but he's played 12 games in 3 years - he just couldn't crack into the Warriors side. I get it that the Warriors had RTS, Maumalo and Fusitu'a in 2018, but I think it's highly premature to talk up one fellow as being "100% better" than another after legitimately 5 good games, all at the start of one season in a side that is going pretty well. Come back and give a more definitive rating on CNK after 30+ games and a season or two extra under his belt.

And Dufty - the dude was benched to start this season and only got a call-back because Widdop got hurt. Hardly in the conversation right now.

Jahrome Hughes - no argument. Keeping Drinkwater out of a talented side and already had a good season last year.

I think the torn pec is what is keeping Drinkwater out of first grade.
 
@TYGA yep solid and safe, but certainly no Xfactor type fullback and never will be. That's ok though, solid and safe is better for us as a team. So called superstar fullbacks don't always win you games, just look at Ponga, who is a tad overrated imo.
 
@Tiger_Steve Yeah possibly. Tbh, I just haven't really seen all that much in him to warrant the 'superstar' status that everyone freely lavishes upon him, even last year. Maybe it's the team he is in, though Tedesco and Turbo always stood out in poor teams.
 
@jirskyr Drinkwater had the jump on Hughes after the pre-season and was playing fullback in the trials when he did his pec. I wouldn't have been surprised to see Croft missing out with Hughes in the halves and Drinkwater at fullback at some point early in the season. Who knows now though, I guess it will depend how Drinkwater comes back from his injury. Hughes will stay in the 17 somewhere even if Drinkwater is brought in though...
