Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I’ve been keen on us signing KPP due to his potential based on size, skill and athleticism, but the more I watch him the more lhe seems to be a player who just wants to coast through his career without ever pushing himself hard enough to play with the high energy and aggression required to get the best out of himself.
If not KPP I’m not sure who our next edge back rower target could be, all the good ones are locked up for the next few years and as there is a noticeable shortage in this position, I can’t see rival clubs releasing anyone featuring in their NRL team early.
I do agree we ideally need someone on one of our edges with the speed, aggression and attacking threat of players such as Briton Nikora and Dylan Lucas, the Raiders appear to have found one similar in Matty Nicholson recruited from the UK.
Maybe we need to hunt for a hidden gem or two from the UK, or we might have to find an up and comer or someone waiting for an opportunity, maybe a good sized centre who plays tough who can potentially convert to become an NRL standard edge back rower ?
A player I have long suspected could potentially become a good edge back rower and I recall him being selected in the Qld Cup Team of the Week last season when playing as back rower is Aaron Schoupp currently languishing in NSW Cup at Manly.
Initially as a depth signing for 2026, he would be a good upgrade on players such as Faatape and Feledy, but well worth a look at potentially getting back to regular NRL as an edge back rower.

He looked up towards luai and went quickly. It was not a coincidence like you want to believe. It's a fact
As I said to you earlier, unless Galvin can see through walls and humans, he wouldn't have been able to see Luai. It was coincidence that he left when he did and the camera angle just amplifies the conspiracy.. watch it again .

Totally agree, every game I have seen him play he looks like poo, not worth the cash.

Some players have just got it, hitting a hole at speed
You mentioned Nikora he is one of the best hole running 2nd rowers in the comp.
Luai had Sorensen at Penrith who also could hit a hole at speed.
I know Sorensen was a speedy back growing up in the juniors at Cronulla and I suspect Nikora would have been the same.
Unfortunately our 2nd rowers look like they have played all their life putting their head in a scrum just taking hit up after hit up.
We need to recruit players that can do the job because at the moment we don’t have that type of player in our roster.
Sorensen is off to England by all reports he is small but mite be worth having a chat with

Fifita playing Q Cup on the weekend has 9 runs for 58m

There’s a guy who has checked out of the nrl & is happy to collect his big $ for another year & a half .
Sad to see. He had more potential than any forward that has come through in the NRL, was far better than Payne Haas at 18 and he could have been another SBW.

Not sure how someone falls back that far with his level of talent.

I think KPP is a talent and has all the tools. When we signed Samuela Fainu he was big and raw like KPP albeit younger than KPP.

The club just has to work out if the perceived laziness is due to the environment he's in or it's him. Outside of Kikau and Nikora a lot of backrowers are only as good as the ball they get from their halves as we saw from Papali'i once he left Moses' edge.

Chronically troubled guys are usually chronic trouble to manage,,,until they reach a wake up call that theyre just pissing away $$$$ in pursuit of "lifesytle"
Some get it in their 20s...some get it in their 30s..some never get it`,like Todd Carney who went from Raiders to Cronulla to obscurity about a decade ago
They can turn it around, it's really sad when you see guys like that who never do. They have to want to and generally need to hot rock bottom first.

I get it but
Dylan Lucas first choice
KPP 2nd choice, he would be forced to play better in our team, because the halves are better and will create more opportunities.

Wasn't he leading bible study? His brother prays to Jesus.

Think he’s just a pretty mixed up individual don’t really want to comment on religion as such but being he is Samoan. I’ve been there a few times it’s a highly religious Christian community.
If I were to guess I’d say he’s been told a bunch of stuff and it’s resonated with him this week, next week Jesus might speak directly to him who knows.
Good footy player but questionable in the mental capacity I think.
