Jason Nightingale is also off contract next season. A very experienced international who certainly knows his way to the try line. He can play other positions as well - would be worth a look I reckon though he'd probably never leave St George.

Nightingale is the equivalent to Boyd, i rate and like neither but geewiz they know how to find the try line

Neither do much fancy but still manage to carve teams up

Just seen we have been linked to Albert Kelly who is killing it over in england.

If Cleary see Brooks as a half that needs the responsibility of controlling the team, then a running half is needed to partner him. Albert Kelly could be a great option in this regard.

Albert Kelly in the halves , would be like what Tedesco is at the fullback position.
Ive watched Albert Kelly play afew times and the two are very similar.

I think Cleary should make controlling and running the team brooks main job. Get him a running 5/8 like kelly and they eill compliment each other. Moses and Brooks was bad because moses was too dominating and wanted to be the controller and runner and everything he could be. I think that left Brooks confused about what he was meant to do.

I heard from usually reliable sources, that we are close to sign Jesus of Nazareth, would be an excellent signing, great utility value.

If he brings his 12 Apostles with him, we have our starting 13.

Mate not worth it he would be far to old

Does anyone think we need to bring in some "characters" into our team? Meaning not players that are necessarily the best players, but guys that their teammates love playing with / having around the team. For example, Nofoaluma seems to be a really popular player, leads the team song, brings that unity and mateship to the team, the same way Rhino used to. If Nofa leaves, who are the players going to be that drive the team bonding? The blokes that will crack a joke to lighten the mood, but take things seriously when things need to get done. Maybe we already have players like this, or maybe it's not something a successful team needs… interested to here people's thoughts.

Still better than Benji, though Benji probably wouldn't think so

He might be good in that regard but he can't tackle. No thanks…

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw us linked to Kelly. Give Brooks the responsibility and let Kelly roam free.

Interesting, wasnt aware of such a ''rule''…it did seem odd and out of the ordinary the Sharks announcing it, usually its the new club

BRISBANE has reportedly lodged an official complaint to the NRL against Cronulla for breaking one of the game's unwritten rules.

Fairfax Media has reported the Broncos were left livid at the Sharks after the latter announced Jack Bird's defection in a media release on Thursday morning.
>
Bird's contract - believed to be three years with an option for a fourth - is finalised but Brisbane's website still hasn't confirmed the signing, even though Wayne Bennett spoke about it on Thursday.
>
Fairfax reports the NRL subsequently issued an email to all 16 clubs reiterating the laws around such announcements.

**_"The rule prohibiting the announcement of any signing until the cooling off period has expired only applies to the team signing a new player," an NRL spokesperson said._**
>
"So the Sharks have not broken an NRL rule. However the NRL will be writing to clubs reminding them of the right protocols in relation to signing or releasing a player."

Why does anyone expect "old codes" to apply any more? You steal our player, why not announce it, who cares? Eels signed a Tigers player for next year then asked could they have him 20 rounds early, so what are people expecting?

Brisbane being too sensitive for mine.
