Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Doueihi defended well and he also kicks goals. The recovery from a serious knee injury is not immediate and I previously posted you will not see the best of him until later in the year. In one game earlier in the year, he did demonstrate excellent pace over long distance. He was also opposite Tago and To'o two very experienced and premiership winning outside backs.
He should be playing on the wing with his size and supposed speed. Centres these days need the ability to get outside their men or cut in through a tight hole. Doueihi can do neither. I’d prefer Gagai.

He is OK. First min or so on the field he left a huge gap for the Bulldogs backrower to score. He is on par with Kit for mine. That’s nothing to write home about.
He needs polish but Bellamy would give him a typical makeover to become a good NRL prop. Kit Lauli'i struggled tackling the bigger forwards. Rahme played well and I hope he continues to improve.

Agreed.
Kit is the player to develop, why are we so quick to move on to the next shiny object.
No you miss understand my message. Develop both we need to. Tataeo is a good signing for depth and development and your club needs more and more of these guys coming in. But I wouldn’t be pinning hopes on either of the two filling our top 30. Hopefully we get to a point in our status as a club in convincing these boys that staying and playing footy regardless of the contract or first grade mins on offer is acceptable enough.

All three are depth. Yet to see otherwise. I wouldn’t be signing anyone to the Top 30 in prop other than Leniu or Papali. That’s the standard of player we need.

Get a good backrower/lock option (still think Fifita is worth a long look) & add a front rower with 1st grade experience/capability (Corey Jensen/Jaiyden Hunt).

Then get your reserve half position sorted (Toby Sexton ideally but...Lachlan Ilias)

Then add your extra outside back depth (Junior Tupou along with Taylan May).

Very few gaps left after that.

Then it's sift through your KOE squad to remove guys with no future NRL level development & fill it with your development guys mixed with a 3-4 fringe 1st grade quality options so that when injury hits, you call up Royce Hunt instead of Charlie Murray.

I was on board with Tupou but now im not sure about it. Leaning more toward resigning Staines who has actually improved this year. Isaac Tui'itupou also impressed me over the weekend as a depth option, his numbers in cup are great. Then Makasini and Luke Laulilii along with the May signing. I think we are doing ok for outside back depth. Particularly with Tupou's contract being on the heavier side for a depth option.

Agree with everything else

Well said.
I would say we probably don’t offer him a new contract and he moves on unless he shows a fair bit of improvement over our next few games.
I really feel for the guy, like I posted you have to respect the blokes with heart who are tenacious, but it's tough Vicious. He's lost his speed, he can't break tackles anymore, he knows his limitations, you know that cause he always turns back in away from the sideline, he knows he can't burn the opposition. His D still needs work. All he really brings is his goal kicking. That's hit and miss. I just can't justify his spot to be fair.

One more fully fledged first grader and I think we have our squad complete.

It's got to be a forward. Just can't decide on Prop or a versatile backrower. Whoever it is needs to provide impact.
Reckon there must be another Papalii type player running around looking for a gig, a utility forward who can do both. Papalii with us now would be perfect, can do the dirty work in the middle if needed and with Latu coming in straightening the attack and Luai off him, the lines Papalii could run would be devastating. He was here 3 years too early. There has to be another player like him somewhere.

Galvin is mostly a passer and Strange mostly a runner, at least at this stage of their careers. From what I have seen of Latu, he can do both very well.
Strange though only caught a quick glimpse of the Dogs game looked like the Rat king was running direct and not doing his crabbing crossfield running.

That might free up another spot as Luai could activate his release option if he's not 7.
No way, apparently Richo is working with Luai to take the clauses out of the deal. As long as Luai is calling the shots whether from 7 or 6 he won't care, Luai said Latus a freak, he knows the potential that guy has. No way he walks because Latu has a 7 on his back. Plenty of 5/8 run teams. Look at Fittler and Lockyer.
