Whatever hope we have of signing anyone decent in the next year will depend on situation with Packet, Matulino and Reynolds. McQueen is not on that big dollars compared to those 3. Packet and Matulino are within reason of being said to be medically impossible to come back on the field anytime soon or ever, and Reynolds does not seem to have taken the ESL option and we seem to be left hoping another NRL club will take him. Doubtful at best due to the contract amount difference the other clubs would have to stump up to make it worthwhile. If we can free up about $300k we could sign a good up and comer but no star.

McQueen was on reportedley 400k p.a which is overs for a bloke who was 30 when he came here

330k actually, for 3 years.

@DieHarder It's no lauhging matter. count Reynolds and possibly Matulino in and its disgraceful waste from a supposedly professional football club.

Any guesses to which clubs would try to cheat it? 😅

ONLY IN RUGBY LEAGUE...
Clubs are working on creation of trade window periods... and are at the same time working out how to cheat them...

Read a article on Lawrence on the net, saying the club are in two minds about resigning him. Mainly because they only have TWO roster positions available for next year. It was a Tele online article so take it with a grain of salt.

Two new mid priced players is not going to change much in 2020. It would appear there is very little chance of finding new homes for some unwanted contracts

Sensationalist nonsense from Moley... he has to write something, anything, every day.

Clubs are trying to get around, loophole, beat, scheme, defeat rules? Gosh who would have thought? Next he's going to break news about cronyism in the IOC and FIFA.

In fact I'd be disappointed if my club wasn't doing everything they could to squeeze the rulebook, find an angle to give them a competitive advantage.

Pascoe did. He then told every media outfit what he was going to do.

Yep, they all do it.

Our bloke broadcast it...

Effectively costing us a 500 000 player.

Tyrone Peachy can't get a start back in Sydney. Panthers can't fit him under the cap. I think he would be a good fit here.

Me too. He is a dynamic player we could do with. Surely Barry can organise a few TPA's to get him across.

@Cultured_Bogan I cant recall anything this guy has done, Marina was on to something everyday, she was committed. This guy has his legs up and arms crossed everyday.

He might have a spare bottle of wine laying around to sweeten the deal

Until we offload 2 of our currently contracted players, and preferably backrowers (McQueen and McIntyre) we can't afford to sign Lawrence. From a squad balance and a cap perspective. We have too many back rowers, can't add another one until we let some go. And we need pace in the backs, a hooker, another prop etc too.

enjoying that bottle of Grange (sorry I keep repeating myself :joy: )

@balmain-boy you are dead right, BB. Until either a mix of j.r/mats or McQueen/Packer are BOTH moved along - not all four but ideally the full contract amounts for at least two of them - we’re long odds to be signing any decent first graders. I know many on here don’t rate Dufty, but he’s one we could afford and may be looking at
