Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

@balmain-boy you are dead right, BB. Until either a mix of j.r/mats or McQueen/Packer are BOTH moved along - not all four but ideally the full contract amounts for at least two of them - we’re long odds to be signing any decent first graders. I know many on here don’t rate Dufty, but he’s one we could afford and may be looking at

Dufty has a few shortcomings but his pace is desperately needed. Mary is a numpty of a coach too. Chopping and changing fullbacks more than he does his undies, so possibly a better coach in Madge can get the best out of Dufty.

@WT2K definitely think he might have what we’re looking for in spades...

a lot of people use the excuse that he has poor defence/short so can’t catch bombs, which is badly exposed like a sore thumb at the dragons ... how’s the rest of their side for defensive stats as it stands???

Have to reckon Madge would have Dufty firing on all cylinders and knowing his style of ‘Back 3’ if he’s able to find 1-2 barnstorming, athletic and safe-hands type (no matter how old, really) to allow M. D to not be so isolated on attacking kicks by the other team at FB.

Only a thought but did hear earlier in the year he was one of a few players we had enquires about, but I honestly believe we’d have competition!

@Cultured_Bogan I cant recall anything this guy has done, Marina was on to something everyday, she was committed. This guy has his legs up and arms crossed everyday.

Fat cat in a suit probably whooping it up with Harry on some remote island no one has ever heard of.

@Russell different kinds of players , would have different roles going forward anyway if we sign a quality back or two, Dufty with a tonne of upside and the only one really cheap enough for us to move straight over! Besides... it’s not like anybody has said they prefer him OVER thompson - did we not just re-sign the little terrier ?? Not sure what exactly your reply was in reference to, Russell. We can have both.

Don't think Dufty is a winger. So if Thompson is a better FB - we don't need him. imo of course.

@Russell fair play , also have to consider Mbye in that list and should we sign somebody like a Nicho Hynes/Cade Cust instead then we would need that space/versatility in our #1/2/5 and 6. Hence, Thompson does still add enormous value to our team ATM.. needs a big’un tonight 🙂

@Russell you’re not wrong!! If we just kick all of our goals and toughen up in defence will go a long way towards winning it, I think (hope? Maybe not). ;P

Nicho Hynes covers fullback and five eighth, apparently we only have 2 spots on our roster left, if we have to carry Grub next year Benji needs to go, we need that roster spot.
Would be good to see Talau play well tonight, he is a five eighth, so if he can play well at centre, he could become our 6, with 2 spots on the roster we need to buy in positions we need most

@851 I don't understand why you want Benji gone so much. He isn't costing us much. Reynolds is the problem and clearly he is overpaid because no one else wants him even if we are paying freight. No club believes he is an answer in their starting halves. Maybe Reynolds will come good next year but no club thinks it's going to happen.

Lastly - we have spots on our roster available.

Benji isn't stopping us purchasing more players. The problem is some players (Reynolds is at the top of the list) are massively overpaid in relation to what they are delivering.

Yup. Jobs for the boys BS. The guy has zero experience in business and zero reason to think he brings anything to the table apart from vague "connections".

Some people just refuse to understand how salary caps work. They see Marshall and Reynolds, think Reynolds is a better player and demand we get rid of Marshall. Never mind the fact that the coach doesn't agree, that Reynolds can barely get on the park or that it's virtually impossible to find a playable half for the next to nothing we're paying Marshall.

Yeah I gave him benefit of the doubt purely because he is untested, but he's done absolutely nothing of note. Many used to bag the crap out of Marina but she fought tooth and nail for this club. She had more guts than anyone else at this club and got ushered out because she dared put the club first.

What I'd give to have her back...

You have to take into account that one is contracted for next year and the other isn't.

Maguire said they might not be able to sign Rowdy because they only have 2 spots on the roster left, no will take Grub so we will have him next year, we need Benji's spot on the roster, plus Benji is not going to be getting any better next year

I fully understand how it works, but with only 2 spots left, Madge's words, we need Benji's spot on the roster

Bingo, my point exactly

Benji has been pretty good this season though. Sure his last game was puss but he would have to be the best value for money half in the entire comp based on performances this year.

I just don't see how getting rid of him helps us out at all.

As for Lawrence not being signed let's see what happens but if there are two spots available then I think there are spots for him.
