Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

@pawsandclaws1 wouldn't hold your breath, paws. Don't think we'll be hearing much from Barry.

@WT2K Then what is he being paid for?

Think he has locked himself in Wests Ashfield's drinks room and working his way through their Grange varieties.

@WT2K what would you like him to say?
We don’t look like we are going to make the eight.
Even if we did, we can do squat to make any impact.
We are in a pickle on recruitment until we get some cap space.
We have a good coach that’s doing pretty good with a roster which lacks depth and has injury holes shot though it.
We know all that. So what else do you want to hear guys?

@momo_amp_medo That we have a strategy for success which involves our recruitment staff securing the best young junior talent in rugby league to join the club next year. That we have revised our retention mechanisms to ensure we don't have a repetition of the departure of most of our best home grown junior talent. That our coaching structure has been overhauled with the aim of accelerating the promotion of the best young talent into the NRL. When we are in a position to do so, the best of established young players will be sought to build upon the team with have assembled from within.

I’m sorry? We just appointed general manager of football and junior pathways. Soooo ......l what do you reckon their bloody task will be over next couple of years.
Do we really need to be spoon fed. We live in aggressive environment where 16 clubs all strive to create best NRL and junior rosters. Yes it’s competitive and what we will get from our coaching and recruitment teams is best possible outcome.
But I don’t expect our chairman to have to reassure me about what are the obvious targets for our club. You don’t see any other club chairperson doing that.

@pawsandclaws1 And then everyone would be up in arms about “another fluff piece”.

Only way to get better is for the people in charge of the roster is to have their head down and fix it. Not wasting time on sending out media spin.

Yep. Damned if does, damned if he doesn’t.

Also Issako

has Speed :fa-check:

can Kick Goals :fa-check:

Exactly what we need right now, I'm a big fan.

@pawsandclaws1 We hear that sorta stuff every year at about this time. One thing WT is good for and that's talk. And more talk.

As for O’Farrell I don’t mind him not being on the front page as long as he is active in improving the club. Everyone said his big strength as our chairman was his political connections.

As chairman though I just hope he has started banging heads of other board members so there is no repeat of what happened to Marina Go.

@GNR4LIFE I get it about fluff pieces but I wrote about tangible improvements to the junior playing roster which can be achieved now and also detailing improvements as to how we go about developing this talent to NRL level. Explain what improvements to pathways have we made, name players, name additional coaching staff and how we improve retention of our home grown produces. I don't believe this to be unreasonable or unrealistic. At this time of year, we are in need of some hope for the future not a repeat of years gone by.

@Russell Wests Tigers is actually a Tyrells kinda club.

Oh! my God - now I understand what has happened to him - he is sulking in the back room because there is no Grange.

Isn't that the job of the CEO? As far at I know the board are unpaid volunteers who meet one a month. The CEO is a fulltime employee on massive dollars, he's the one who should be accountable.

@gallagher Chair may be unpaid but let's not kid ourselves, it carries with it prestige of the appointment. Nice to have on your CV and time now to issue a statement on the future strategy of the Club. Not difficult, not unreasonable but the right thing to do.
