No I didn’t, and it doesn’t back up what you’re trying to say either. They had to revise the offer but dogs swept in quickly and took him.

We didn't have the money to pay him so we were looking at a backended deal that we didn't have time to organise! That is exactly what I am saying!

So we could have got him, we just needed to backend it slightly and we didn’t have time.

No we didn't have the money to offer him so he signed with the Dogs.


I read it that we ran out of time and the dogs came in. But anyway let’s just agree to disagree.

Why didn't we make him a revised offer?


The way I read it is that we were trying to revise the offer and during that time the dogs came in and he signed with them.

Does anyone really jump on an existing offer when they know a counter-offer is coming in?

Play out the possible scenario that Tigers make an offer, Dogs jump in late with an offer and... he DWZ signs with Dogs "before Tigers have made their counter-offer". Surely the Dogs offer was superior in some fashion, be it money or strategy or coach and it wasn't simply a time-based thing. Footballers can surely afford to wait a few weeks to sort out deals worth hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.

This isn't some Brasher or Mitchell Moses type situation where the deal's been on the table for months without being touched.

@Madge i rate him and he is solid which makes the position less of a priority right now imo. In saying that he can be exploited size-wise and hasn't had a super amount of game impact when comparing with the top fullbacks. I have also noticed a considerable lack of backing up in the middle which was what made him so awesome early on. In saying that there isnt that many fullbacks of quality but he definately isnt in the top 5 to 8

Can I just say Luke Bateman is off contract

Not too sure how much money Canberra have left, but I’ve always rated Batemen for a few seasons now.

The kids starting to come out of his shell and play some great footy, he’s also only 24 years old.

We should really be looking into this, if we can offload McQueen (POM quotes it’s likely) and with the remaining $ we have we could get it done

I wouldn't even see him as being in our best 17 and we don't have spots free for depth signings...

Props for sure - that's a priority, we do need some strike out wide and while I'm not opposed to someone like Lomax, the club is definitely banking on some of the junior talent we have recruited like Talau, Cini and the young Qld centre.

Jennings contract ends at the end of 2020. One can only hope he isn't re-signed.

Why are we entertaining the idea of nuffies like Lomax when there’s better to be had ?

Jennings should be in the forwards but he’s got no ticker and he’s too slow for the backs ..
