Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I notice KPP had 8 missed tkls yesterday...thats unlike him.
I didnt see that game
Mulitalo 3 tries as well as bench wide runners scoring...what happened
they isolated him 1 on 1 with AFB & Talakai close to the line alot unfortunately
didn’t have many friends with him to help tackle
Wouldn't be surprised if KPP's head is in the Sydney real estate websites now guys, can you blame him, time is almost here to move to greener pastures.

He reminds me a bit of Samuela in defense, really puts in the effort to shut down attacking raids and gets involved in tackles that most other 2RFs would avoid, often coming in from the side and missing a few. I've been watching him closely over the past few weeks, and I don't see any issues with his defence. He does need to assert himself more in attack, but that being said, it's almost criminal how one-sided the Knights' attack is—90% of the time it goes left and only shifts right when the defensive line is set and dominating, never when they're on the front foot in attack and the defence is back pedalling.
spot on. their attack is the worst in the comp by like 100 points. they’re coached to play ultra conservative - no offloading, contesting kicks, or adlib play. his strengths in the SL was all of that with great defense so he should hopefully be better suited to us

Depressed is not the term I would use …its more tamping down on the expectations for KPP…Sione has been playing great on the edge the last couple of weeks , and we know Sam F is the best edge we have….so KPP could be an option for the bench Round 1… if that was to happen, it wouldn’t be the end of the world Chadster …
Do you think he could play 13 ?

KKP missed a few tackles on the weekend but his overall defensive stats are very good for a 2nd rower.

Kai P P has a 94% tackle efficiency rate . Averages 111 running metres
Angus Crichton has a 91% tackle efficiency rate . Averages 121 running metres
Viliame Kikau has a 89% tackle efficiency rate . Averages 102 running metres
Liam Martin has a 88% tackle efficiency rate . Averages 81 running metres
Samuela Fainu has a 89% tackle efficiency rate . Averages 77 running metres
Alex Seyfarth has a 93% tackle efficiency rate . Averages 66 running metres

Yeah I wouldn't be judging him too harshly on the weekend. His defence has been really solid this year. Pretty disappointing on the attacking output side of things but hopefully Benji has a plan to unlock that side of his game.

Don't think on his own he shifts our fortunes, but he is a piece of the puzzle. By all reports he is not on a huge amount (i remember 550-600k being quoted), so if it doesnt work out we won't feel it too much on the cap side of things.

With that bench, God would have had trouble!
How Mason got on the bench is as big a mystery as Lasseter's Gold
Maybe it's just me?
I don’t know where the gold is, or how Mr Ed can talk, but football is not rocket science and sometimes I’m left wondering what Benji is thinking with who and how he manages his bench?

Before we all start depressed prior to KPP even arriving- what we need is for him to be a better option than Bird or Seyfarth have been.

I think he starts way above that line already. So unless he regresses, he's an upgrade to the starting squad, and therefore the depth is stronger.

Adding in Geyer & Roberts as well starts to fill out the role required.

From what I've seen, he's not a superstar, but he's tall, athletic & tackles. He should be an advantage on kick contests & can offload. Just so long as he can run a good line off Latu or Luai or Doueihi- it's all a step in the right direction.
All we need is a mobile enough and fit enough backrower that can start in and move out. Oppositions halves have far too much time against us. Admittedly I haven’t watched him much lately but in times I have I feel defensively he moves well laterally and keeps his fitness, which is extremely important for our right edge. You would of noticed Raiders took full advantage of us playing a prop at backrow this past Saturday.

That really high;ites how mis-leading stats can be...hes better that Crichton Kikau & Liam Martin...weve hit the jackpot

Yeah but it's the ferocity of the tackles, he's like a powder puff compared to those guys, needs to get some mongrel into his game. Even good old Alex hits harder then him.

He is a bit like getting caught in a spider web, all arms and legs and wraps rather than hits.....I would prefer he hits harder, however he does consistently wrap the player and ball up on his own without 3 others needing to come in.

Thats what I read,,,,
But Smith is gr8!Someone is gonna get a good one
Problem is,we already have considerable investment in halves, and it wld burn Latu and potentially destabilise his brothers..unless we re invent him as a 13
Sandon Smith is a little bit of a naughty boy. Good player but very risky.

anyone else hella excited for the pac championships this year? get to see our Samoan boys go at it against presumably our latu & katoa in the halves.
Absolutely. My in laws (Tongan) have family coming over from Hawaii to watch the game in Brisbane. I will have to cheer our Samoan contingent on the inside to save me from copping backlash from my wife. Should be an amazing tournament.
