If we've signed Walters, Reynolds is gone

I don't think you can make an automatic connection. Reynolds has a contract so unless someone else is interested he's not going anywhere. I thought he looked sharp in small doses last week.

The club will be making announcements regarding McQueen, Reynolds and Mats after the season is over

He looked ok taking darts out of dummy half but those passes he was throwing looked pretty ordinary. 5/8 or bust for mine.

spot on...Reynolds is not a 9 and the club knows this

I like jrey and be happy to keep him, but he's no good to us if he's not on the field.
I was actually really looking forward to watching him play this season.

I know which one I’d rather, but that’s us ay.

If you'd rather have Reynolds on 700-800k a year than almost any other warm body in professional sport you have a lot to learn about salary caps.

I just want to win. We play better and win more with Reynolds in the team, he lifts the players around him. He is worth that money injury free and who’s to say he won’t stay injury free next next season? He’s certainly worth more than Billy Walters! Aim to get rid of Packer & Matulino first if you want to free up cap space. They’re on just about as much and doing absolutely nothing for the team. Perhaps if we can offload them, along with McQueen, Lawrence and Taylor, we may not have to lose Reynolds at all.

If they've bedded down definite outcomes they're keeping it pretty quiet. We all know the preferred outcomes. There's little noise I'm hearing on actual guaranteed outcomes. You may have better information on this.

Marshall's passing wasn't great either but everyone seems to agree he was superb. I'd personally delay final judgement on Reynolds at 9. I'm by no means sold but I didn't think it was a disaster.

1 Mbye
2 Nofa
3 Rami Noodle
4 Marsters/Momi (if we must offload one, at least there will be definite demand)
5 Sivo/Bradley/Garner

6 J Rey/Walters
7 Brooks

9 Benji/Liddle (Simpkins understudy) - I even like the bloke’s name already

We literally need 1x Arrow or a Fifita to compliment Matto out on an edge, plenty of depth for backrow spots next year and some seemingly good juniors coming through. For those who cannot or will not accept it; we need a mammoth up front who also has explosive power and can switch to lock without skipping a beat mid-game, very effectively...

I.e Eiso offers value for money but no reason now we can’t retire Mats, let Packer go if possible and subsidise McQueen even fractionally, in order to finally go after a game breaker type forward for the 2nd ROW and to lead with actions akin to exactly why Matto has looked so beast for us this year. Came from a winning culture and looks to be a born leader enjoying our struggle for the 8 already in his season here... just one other player of that caliber in the forwards and I think you’ll find we do not need to release Grub at all !

I agree with this....It's too early to pass judgement on either..we destroyed the Knights..both Marshal and Reynolds got the ball where it needed to be...lets see how they go this week..

Fair enough and no, it wasn't a disaster. I just think that more could've been expected of Reynolds given the possibility of him doing time at hooker has been around almost since he joined. I would've hoped he'd done some work around his technique but it doesn't seem he has (or if he has it hasn't helped). Marshall seems to have been put there at short notice and while he wasn't perfect by any means he showed decent technique and a very good understanding of where Brooks would want the ball. He looked pretty good for someone who hadn't really played the position before and might improve with time spent there and training.

Agree on all counts. Reynolds gets more than the knights debacle to prove himself - Benji starts thinking and acting like he can benefit us also playing as #9 next year. Win Win

Thank god, I was hoping they wouldn't try convert him to 9 so Benji can play again, if Grub stays he plays 6, if he goes Benji can stay, not both

Didn't Benji play a bit of dummy half up in Brisbane?

Most of his NRL games for Brisbane were back up hooker from the bench

@TigersBusDriver Ask Bellamy. He must have seen something when he signed Walters. I remember too that he saw something in Paperhuzen. Something which most Wests Tigers did't see.

Everyone saw something in Paps, the question is whether it was enough to be a successful NRL footballer.

But if you are pegging signings by Bellamy as some indicator of "potential", i.e. Bellamy signed Billy Walters therefore X; Storm churn through just as many players as the other clubs do.

For example, they are two seasons older than us and have used 199 players total; we have used 225. St George are 1 year older than us and have used 229 players. That includes Storm's luxury of having some extremely long-serving players like Smith, Cronk, Slater, Bromwich, Hoffman, Geyer, Chambers - 7 players over 200 games, 2 over 300 and 1 over 400. By contrast, Dragons have only 5 over 200 and Tigers have 4 (playing for just that club).

Storm have also used 51 players that played 5 matches or less. Tigers have used 44.

I liked his off hand comment after the game, wondering where he had left his lungs. He looked totally spent. The run will do him the world of good.

I can only picture him being wide of the ruck & I went back and checked his highlights from that year & none of it showed him at dummy half (regardless of whether he had 6, 18 or 20 on his back). He might have played some but I don’t recall it at all.
Edit: I went back and checked the minutes and McCullough played 80 in every round Marshall played except for rounds 12, 21 and 26. Marshall played 5/8 for 80 minutes in round 12 so the most time he spent at dummy half was (possibly) 17 minutes in round 21 (after an injury to McCullough) and (possibly) 40 minutes in round 26.

Obviously have no idea how he'd go defending in the middle but what about Thompson in the 9 in a Cook type role? Seems to be left out of alot of team lists with all the signing suggestions, kinda feel like the dude is a lil hard done by.
