Exactly.

it needs to play out the way it is. the club is doing the right thing.

end of the day we dont have to release the bum, we can introduce him to State cup and leave him there.
The club know they have no chance to force him to play somewhere he doesnt want to

I'm with you Patriot. We need to come out on top here and there are only 2 options to do that

1) Find a replacement, or cap concessions to sign a replacement, that is better than matto (Including attitude)
2) Make him sit in state cup for the rest of his contract. I've got no problem with that.

Capewell has all but aligned himself with the Knights. As someone already said in here, he's knocked the Tigers back more than once. The club isn't chasing him. The last I heard, is that Wests Tigers are waiting to see who Matterson aligns himself with and then they plan to negotioate a player swap deal with that team.

If true that is amateur recruiting, waiting on someone else to make a decision

we should be shopping him not waiting for teams to come to us....get on the front foot and make teams think about it rather than have them offer us their scraps

How would that work?

Tigers: Hello, is this Ian Warriors, head of recruitment at the New Zealand Warriors?
Warriors: Yes it is. What can I do for you?
Tigers: Would you like to take one back row forward, slightly used, good engine off our hands? He's going to need about $600,000 a year.
Warriors: Why that sounds like a bargain! Sign us up.
Tigers: Great. Oh, one thing: we're going to need Cuzzy Promusung-Youngster in return.
Warriors: Hmm, less good but still ok.
Tigers: Great, hold the line please.

...

Tigers: Hey Ryan, we've got a new home for you. How much would you like to live in Auckland?
Matterson: Not at all. My manager is working on this and he will be in touch. Goodbye.

If we are not happy with it than refuse the release

Tell Matterson he has e choices

1. Aim up at training and play your best and hopefully get rewarded with SOO jersey

2. Tank it like sook moses and play CC and watch your career go down the gurgler

3. Spit the dummy and sit out the next 2 seasons payment free

Make your choice but these are your options so suck it up sook

I mean our CC will be a side to be feared with

Me personally id wait until Matterson tells me who he wants to play for then flat out refuse to release him to that club just to spite him.

He was in our system, but as we all know just because he's a local junior doesn't mean he'll sign with us. But he has which is great. Hope he trains with the NRL squad until Christmas.

You vindictive bugger.I love it

Come on guys, to think that Matterson's manager is entering negotiations without parameters as to WT requirements is pure fantasy. They would have been set out very clearly before the announcement that he could approach other clubs.

Even better, let him agree to terms with the other club and just never file the release papers, and when he goes to turn up to his first [insert club] training session, ring his manager and tell him we've not done the paperwork yet. Then string it out for week after week after week.

Put the Matto release papers in the cabinet with the Robbie Farah unsigned ambassador contract.

I think he must be pretty keen to stay - he knocked back a contract with the waratahs to stay at WT.

Did you watch the rugby World Cup quarter final? I’d rather shovel chicken poop than play that crap!

Sums up my sentiments well.

If by some chance he is here, I believe he'll be in first grade, if money is what he wants there's no value sooking in reggies as it torpedoes his long term earnings.

And Tim Moltzen's Dragons release papers.

Great value for us and helps balance out all the players we aren't getting value for

I don't particularly like the game either but I don't see what that has to do with him knocking back a contract to play the game. He obviously wanted to play it enough to get selected in numerous rep sides.
