Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Can you elaborate?

It is completely disrespectful to the coach. I haven't seen the video, but if they are saying Madge is a bad coach/should be sacked, then that "like" is an agreeance, no?

I just don't get how it's different to what Marty Taupau did, 'cept one they want to keep and the other they didn't.
I watch my nephew (Walsh's age) scrolling through social media and he just likes stuff based on the subject matter, Walsh could have seen something about Reyno retiring and hit like without even viewing the content. Although in this instance i do believe something is really rotten at the Broncos and will only be a matter of time before it all blows up.

We should really focus on the ESL a lot more and see what diamonds in the rough we can find. The Raiders realised a while ago that they are an unattractive destination for elite NRL players. So they remedied that by going to England. And they found solid players. Whitehad, Bateman etc. Sure, Bateman was over the hill once he came to us. But in his first season at the Raiders, he was a revelation. There’s a lot of talent over there, and I’m not sure why we don’t utilise it.

This is a good idea. Raiders always struggle to attract people to live in Canberra so have to think outside the box. We need to do the same, not becuase of where we are, but becuase of how horrible we are.

Seems pretty Obvious that we have no cap left,
If we did we would at least have had a little dabble in the market as it has played out so far,
There has been a few players that have been suitable to what we would have been looking for,
And other clubs have jumped in and signed them,
Not one sign of any interest by our club,
Nor is there any mention of any player of interest we may look to try and attract.

"CRICKETS" NO MONEY LIKELY REASON.
They are just holding out, they want to have the $$ to resign Samuela, Latu & possibly (as a sweetener to get those two) their brother Manase.

They also waiting to offload a few players between now & Nov 1 when they can go to the market as other clubs will be shedding players due to cap restraints or player/manager dissatisfaction with their present club's offers/contract standoffs.

They save part of the $1.2M they would have been paying Jerome next year, then there's young Kit & Luke Laulilli departing for Perth, Toa & possibly Skelton being moved on along with a few others.

Then there's the cap increase, the Wests Tigers, unlike a lot of other teams has a not so insignificant war chest there to tie up the Fainu boys, upgrade a few contracts and still have cap space to go to the market for another quality outside back, second rower & possibly even a much needed prop.

Its just a social media software system.

Canberra climate suits poms too.
I watch a little ESL there are a few good players there running around.
Hodgo and Skando would have contacts too.

Id also love to get James Maloney to the club in some capacity.... the blokes a competitor and a winner... ive seen him discussing us a few times on sm

Not accepting an apology and a handshake or looking a bloke in the eye afterward is filth…

I like Madge
- but coaching is beyond his capabilities now…
Unless he moves to a communist country.
He would have made a good coach for the East German Olympians back in the Cold War days when there were two separate Germanys.

He'd be especially good with the Women's Weight Lifting team and would further sharpen their women's gymnastics & women's swimming teams.

You think we all live under a rock?

Actually,
I acknowledged his joke and deflected, with a clever jab at the greenies who lobbied against getting the club rebuilt forever and a day….

That whoosh you heard, was much closer to your location… better luck next time

Fair enough, just didn't read that way with the lack of any of that context.

Yeah I think priority 1 atm is extending Samuela, Latu & Pole.

Further incomings may well be dependent on if & who we can offload that is on contract. Two names mentioned a couple of months ago were Seyfarth & Hunt.

I highly doubt Seyfarth is going anywhere especially the form he has shown the past 2 months. And unfortunately, I can't see any other club taking on Royce Hunt's contract for next season without us contributing a fair chunk and then it probably won't be viable.

The only player I can see us letting go who has value is Doeuihi.

So for me, I can't see us recruiting any other 1st 17 type players for next season unless AD moves on.

My feeling is possibly room for 1 more but as you suggest it could be a tight cap, why the hell isn't it transparent, PVL always makes out it's all about the fans.

For me I'm hanging onto Hunt, don't have enough impact.

They had enough impact against the Roosters. Pole, Bunty and May.
I just hope May can run at the defence like last week, and not dawdle and turn?
We need all props to be strong, not just two.
I think Bunty is underestimated compared to Hunt's minimal contribution.

Same, Bunty has played really well this year when he has played,, he gave 1 penalty away for that late shot against the warriors that seems to be what everyone holds against him but he really adds some muscle and dominance in the middle ,, I rate him

For me , the stand players we need to re- sign is Samuel and pole , and hope we can get pole’s little brother to come here

I'm keeping them both, Hunt and Bunty, injury gods can be unkind with the speed of the game now.

Because making players’ salaries in the cap public would lead to some eye opening revelations which would be anecdotal evidence that there must be illegal top ups which would bring into question the integrity of the salary cap and the game more broadly.

Basically, the NRL doesn’t want the scandals that could effect revenue and the RLPA doesn’t want the players they represent to earn less money (the RLPA and the players don’t care if it’s legal or illegal).

So, salaries will never be public, unless ratings and TV revenue ever dives in which case the NRL will be forced to enforce the cap to level the playing field for all teams so more games are interesting.

I'm thinking the same too. They both will be good experienced depth for next season & then we can use their spots to upgrade a couple in 2028 who may be ready by then (i.e. Taupau-Moors, Duncombe, Aho) or recruit one externally for '28 with the cap space.

From the discussion above, it would seem Doueihi is the more easily moved on than the forwards. Maybe his desire to play in the halves is more useful at another club whereas WT future would seem to be at lock or centres. He might or might not love the club but he also has to enjoy his football.
