Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

IDK if it's having Madge - and despite his epic bungle with the RF thing - and JP, but I feel the Tigers really are in a position of power for once.
If anything this last year has taught me, is that while we are the gift that keeps on giving, we also are a pretty resilient club.
The jokes about players who have left and gone on to success, only tells me that we have never had any issues in developing great football players but instead have suffered from poor Club Management and coaching. Plus have poor facilities and this should be made a priority.

The Media circus surrounding us now re:Latrell is the perfect time/opportunity for Justin Pascoe to show the NRL we are not the doormat of the NRL and I hope to see him regain some control of the narrative for once. While it doesn't bother me how much media conjecture is aimed at WT.... I however do not wish to see us used as a bargaining chip or as a smokescreen for other clubs/players/managers.
Despite our failure in the NRL competition we have surpassed some big clubs with our overall development of players. We sell papers and create headlines and the NRL still have no inkling of how much we really contribute to the game. This should be the time we put the foot down and really bury the tag of the underachievers of the NRL.

I'd be pretty stoked if we landed LM and even more so if JAC came back yet also know we need forwards. But our attack still sucks.........and we need to realistically address our playmaking issues.
We only have Benji for one more year and Brooks needs to take his game to the next level by actually leading the team around the park. I love him as a player and thought he was better this year but want nothing more than to see him become what he was dubbed to be, a gamechanger and great leader for the WT.
So, other than taking players to the next level, my only wish is to see us have a truly successful year and that is heavily dependent on who we recruit.

Well said L ...... we all have similar vision for our Club ..... so here’s hoping!

@GNR4LIFE
If you compare both LM and Jac to chess pieces they would both be Queens
They can both move quick and can cause a lot of damage to the other side very quickly
Not much would stop them if they worked in tandem
Nothing beats speed
Of course our forwards need to do a job and being a year older and wiser I think players like Aloiai Twal Mck Garner Clark and Mikaele will be much better and Hungrier for success
He'll if Packer can perform we will be ok in the forwards
In 2005 it was our ability to score points that won us our premier ship
If teams scored 28 points against us we scored 30
LM and Jac will allow us to do that
If we can manage to snare them both this off season then get them both
Next off season we can tidy up the forwards if we need to
You would think that if LM and Jac are signed elsewhere for 3 or 4 years then we will miss the boat again
Sign them up now
See how we go in 2020
Use part of our $5 million in free cap(apparently) in 2021 to upgrade our forwards
Rome wasn't built in a day but it has to start someday
This is the time
I look forward to good news
Please make it happen tigers

Capewell Dragons close to being done according to the drags forum. Flanno signing players and not McGregor

If Dragons are signing Capewell, might mean that Frizell is on the move

Dragons face threat of losing the club’s most exciting talent
St George Illawarra fans could be forgiven for thinking the only way is up after their recent struggles — but rival NRL clubs are lining up to poach one of their brightest talents.

Just when St George Illawarra thought the worst was behind them after a season from hell, the Dragons are now facing the very real threat of losing the club’s most exciting young talent.

On the eve of their return for pre-season training, The Daily Telegraph can reveal that young gun Zac Lomax is about to officially put himself on the open market.

Lomax, 20, is contracted for next season but is now free to negotiate his future beyond 2020.

Unfortunately for the Dragons, Lomax has indicated he wants to test the market.

It is expected that he will enter talks with as many as six rival clubs in the coming weeks.

It is understood the Dragons are desperate to keep Lomax and have all but guaranteed him first crack at owning the No.1 jumper in 2020 as a way of keeping rivals at bay.

Lomax is regarded as one of the best young centres in the game but he has already indicated his long-term goal is to establish himself as an NRL fullback.

It was thought that could work in the Dragons favour given Lomax would probably struggle to lock down the fullback spot at most rival clubs at this point of his career.

But that theory was blown apart when Lomax’s manager Steve Gillis confirmed when contacted on Sunday that his client had made a decision to see what offers are out there for him.

“There are clubs who have indicated that they would like to talk and he’s quite happy to give them the courtesy of having a discussion,” Gillis said.

Gillis’ management company also looks after Lomax’s Dragons teammates Matt Dufty and Euan Aitken.

Dufty and Aitken have been reportedly shopped around to rival clubs in recent months.

Gillis said both players had a contract with the Dragons for 2020 and had no plans of seeking an early exit.

The Wests Tigers are known to be one club keen on Lomax but his hopes of playing fullback at the Tigers would be dependent on what move Latrell Mitchell makes.

The Tigers are also chasing an outside back as well as a fullback.

Like Mitchell, Lomax has the added value of being a quality goal kicker which makes him even more valuable.

The Tigers have $1.7 million in available salary cap space for next season so they could potentially afford both Mitchell and Lomax and still have money to spend.

Lomax has long been regarded as a young player with huge potential. NSW coach Brad

Fittler once labelled him “the gifted one”.

It would be highly unlikely the Dragons would release Lomax for next season even if he secured a future elsewhere.

But you’d imagine it would also make it extremely difficult for Paul McGregor to pursue his plans of playing Lomax at fullback if he does decide to sign at a rival club.

For that reason the longer these negotiations drag on the more it could potentially disrupt the Dragons’ preparations for next season.

Sunday Telegraph saying WTs have been in discussion with Alex Johnston over the last few weeks as Soths are interested in JAC.

Johnston wouldn’t be a terrible pickup on the wing. Lots of pace. Certainly not in the same class as JAC though.

Alex Johnston talk is becoming as predictable as Curtis Rona talk every off season

@WeHaveCheeKam He would be not much more than half the price JAC. Would you rather sign Johnston at $500k or JAC at $900k?

Latrell at $1M is a bargain compared to these guys IMO.

I wouldn't even vaguely consider signing AJ for $500K, nor JAC for $900K. JAC is a great player but those numbers are crazy for wingers...

What odds are on offer for every article written about us being keen on the player... Mentions the 1.5/1.7 million available..

@WT2K The clubs not being spoken of are the clubs that will sign the cream ..the Tigers are just paper fillers as there not taken seriously..

I’d have JAC easy.
900k does sound expensive but I’d take a Corey Oates or a JAC over just about any prop.

BTW Latrell IS a massive bargain at that price.

Yep maybe 600 k max for the best winger in the game ( or not in the game if considering Radradra )

@WT2K flanno can’t be seen signing players according to the story I saw on his condition of return to the NRL - surely not 😜

Please not Alex Johnstone...

He is cooked. Showed promise first season, electric pace...since then tons of injuries, lost some of his pace...wants to play FB, but can't pass...

He 'sounds' like someone we would sign.

If we are serious about a new era, he is the type we need to avoid.
