What I find amusing is the Tigers Management have said it is a aggressive player market and we are going to be aggressive but we seem to be in the negative.. We lose 4 top line starting players and gain LL from Dragons with little experience. This Q&A is going to be fun.... Not...
Stay strong jonesy
Everyone is telling Jonesy to do the one thing the club can't do .....stay strong .....now that's irony
Different meaning. Chin up vs being a powerhouse.
The club officials are on a hiding to nothing any way they go. If they are quiet, people complain they don't inform members and fans sufficiently. If they host a live Q&A, people sneer that the line will drop out and they'll have nothing good to say anyway. As if every skype conversation with your relatives overseas doesn't drop out and as if telecom powerhouses like Optus offer flawless service when streaming live events.
Who really gives a toss whether or not Pascoe blows your mind or repeats old stories in the Q&A? Filling supporters with confidence or otherwise has nothing to do with the on-field performances or the reality of the club behind closed doors.
And specific to Jonesy, he's a much of a worrywart negative nellie as I've seen on here recently. It's the offseason but some folks can't relax.
Settle down no need to get personal.
I, like most people are just sick of losing and will support club through think & thin.. If you think there is nothing to worry about with recruitment then you are better then me (and most likely a lot of others). I have just been saying we have lost 4 starting NRL players and picked up 1 bench player.. We have a lot of cash free and yet to sign a quality player that takes us to the next level or even replaces the likes of a Matterson or Marsters etc..
The club has done an excellent job with resigning players that want to be here and will assist to take us to the next level Plus our junior recruitment has been 2nd to none...
My biggest concern and I have had contact with Justin P about this is WHY is our club not able to attract big name players.. We have a hell of a lot to offer and cannot understand why we have this trouble.
Fingers crossed we do announce a player/s signings very soon but the longer this goes on the less there is out there to sign.
I am not going to go into a back and forth argument with you or anyone but if you are happy with our recruitment thats fine but for me I feel we have not improved and we cannot blame lack of funds for this.
Not personal mate, nothing personal about it at all. I've never even had an opinion on your posts until this recent Latrell noise - where you have been worrying and hand-wringing with enough frequency for me to notice.
You have become my poster-person for overthinking and overworrrying this offseason. Nothing personal about it, just the frequency and content of your posts. That's why I'm offering my support, for you to stay tough during these troubling times.
Why don't we attract big-name players? Well hold your breath for a few weeks and that just might change.
Which really is my point. I agree with you that Tigers don't often sign elite players, rarely have in all my time. But we are very certainly as close to signing an elite player as we ever have been, arguably the biggest name ever in WT history.
So I don't understand why you would ask "why can't Tigers attract big-name players" when we are very deep in the mix with the biggest name player currently available. Sure, if he signs for Souths, then you can have all these threads dissecting why Latrell didn't come.
The longer this offseason goes, the closer we are to the next signing window for other quality players. It's cyclical.
Do I personally think we've replaced the players from last year? Yes and no. Esan 2019 is easily covered. Farah, no, but he was on his last legs and the club is in a difficult position with Liddle. Leilua isn't as good yet as Matterson but Matto is a dog and a lowlife so I'm not going to trouble myself with angst over his replacement.
For me, it's not the specific cattle, it's the team cohesion and consistency. We were 9th in 2019 and we were inconsistent. I don't think Matto or Marsters changes this. Latrell - certainly he could help.
