What I find amusing is the Tigers Management have said it is a aggressive player market and we are going to be aggressive but we seem to be in the negative.. We lose 4 top line starting players and gain LL from Dragons with little experience. This Q&A is going to be fun.... Not...

Stay strong jonesy

Everyone is telling Jonesy to do the one thing the club can't do .....stay strong .....now that's irony

Different meaning. Chin up vs being a powerhouse.

The club officials are on a hiding to nothing any way they go. If they are quiet, people complain they don't inform members and fans sufficiently. If they host a live Q&A, people sneer that the line will drop out and they'll have nothing good to say anyway. As if every skype conversation with your relatives overseas doesn't drop out and as if telecom powerhouses like Optus offer flawless service when streaming live events.

Who really gives a toss whether or not Pascoe blows your mind or repeats old stories in the Q&A? Filling supporters with confidence or otherwise has nothing to do with the on-field performances or the reality of the club behind closed doors.

And specific to Jonesy, he's a much of a worrywart negative nellie as I've seen on here recently. It's the offseason but some folks can't relax.

Settle down no need to get personal.
I, like most people are just sick of losing and will support club through think & thin.. If you think there is nothing to worry about with recruitment then you are better then me (and most likely a lot of others). I have just been saying we have lost 4 starting NRL players and picked up 1 bench player.. We have a lot of cash free and yet to sign a quality player that takes us to the next level or even replaces the likes of a Matterson or Marsters etc..
The club has done an excellent job with resigning players that want to be here and will assist to take us to the next level Plus our junior recruitment has been 2nd to none...

My biggest concern and I have had contact with Justin P about this is WHY is our club not able to attract big name players.. We have a hell of a lot to offer and cannot understand why we have this trouble.

Fingers crossed we do announce a player/s signings very soon but the longer this goes on the less there is out there to sign.

I am not going to go into a back and forth argument with you or anyone but if you are happy with our recruitment thats fine but for me I feel we have not improved and we cannot blame lack of funds for this.

Out of interest, what did Pascoe say?

And I agree with your post. I think we have every right to question our recruitment record and at this moment, this years is shabby. Might change tomorrow hey!?!?

Without going into details he just clarified a few things for me regarding recruitment but the main thing as we all know is the media is our worst enemy and spreading lies (most likely player agent boosting there players offers)..
We never offered Capewell, Milf, Drinkwater, Brown or Phillip Semi but the media made out we lost out on them / Moylan wanted 4 years so we withdrew interest (very smart decision IMO) / Tetevano wanted too much $$$ etc...

We have so much to offer and we are only a couple of quality players off making finals so fingers crossed.

He blamed the media on our recruitment? I think he needs to have an inward glance.

No I think Jonesy is saying that we didn't make offers to half the players that the media says "Tigers missed out on". I.e. Pascoe is saying don't believe all the players that the media links us to.

@jirskyr
I agree mate added to that the addition of musgrove, a decent version of packer and a year under the belt of miakele should make up the loss of matto as a whole imo.

If were after Addo-car why don't we offer him the Fullback position?

Because he isnt a fullback?

Klokstade wasn't a fullback before the Raiders signed him.

We already have 26 players in our squad who arent a fullback. Im hoping that we snap up a player who is. JAC isnt, he doesnt have the defence required.

I think he was through the juniors and was seen as the long term solution at the warriors before RTS. He was eased into first grade as an outside back as many fullbacks are.

Yes he was, a fullback forced to play on the wing to get a run

Clifford extends with cows until 2021... Be interesting to see how they fit him and Drinkwater into the 17...

I remember a while back Josh Addo-Carr said he wants to be the man to replace Billy Slater.

Then Drinkwater, Hughes and Pappz jumped in.

He'd back himself at fullback.
The next Reecey Wesser or Matty Bowen.

I’ve never seen talau play but heard a lot of good things how would we go developing him into our next fullback?

Back in the day when I played (not high levels) I was a fullback. I'm not sure people understand how specialised the position is, totally different to centre/wing. I dont believe that you can properly convert a player at first grade age to fullback to an NRL level. There is too much to learn.

It is possible of the player has played a lot of fullback in earlier ages but convert from scratch, no chance.

Should have gone after him - too late now.

The Mole:
WESTS TIGERS COULD CLAIM UNION GIANT
A former Queensland Reds rugby union forward is set to make the jump across to league with the Wests Tigers.
Waita Setu, younger brother of former Dragon Lagi Setu, was born in New Zealand and moved to Australia to play in the Storm and Broncos junior systems.
The 27-year-old loose forward then switched to union, where he played several games for the Reds in Super Rugby before moving to England.
He played last season for Brisbane City in Australia's National Rugby Championship and is currently trialing for a contract with the Tigers.
Having lost Ryan Matterson and Ben Matulino and with Russell Packer on the outer, the Tigers have vacancies in the pack and Setu, a 110kg giant, could prove a handy addition.
