If Latrell isn’t coming to the tigers, I for one would be extremely proud of management if they take NO PART in assisting souths making cap space.
Johnston is already creating mixed feelings amongst the forum, I want to see the tigers stick to their Guns of wanting to make serious changes and changing our culture and image.
If Latrell doesn’t want to sign with Tigers, then let’s stay away from souths players, signing any of their players to create cap space for Latrell just makes us look weak.

I really don’t understand how this is even logical? At the moment everyone agrees we need to get better . Johnston regardless of how much of an upgrade you think he is , is still an upgrade . LM is finding his way there regardless. If the rumours are true , he always was. Hence the “your not going to Souths” statement .

We had a crack to try and swing the pendulum . In US sports we would have swung a trade and hoped in playing out the year we would have been able to snare him. But all we could do was back the truck up and hope that was enough .
It wasn’t . So now we grab the upgrades we can find, in a bleak and weak player market.
The JAC ( hopefully) and lesser players like Johnston . Throw in some cap relief , front load the rest and we, are cooking with gas for the foreseeable future .

I don’t understand how you don’t find it logical.
If we take AJ, and it gives souths even the slightest cap relief to pursue LM, that is letting old habits return.
We have publicly said we want to improve our image, we need to toughen up, signing AJ is just a silly move in terms of our image.
If they get Latrell and offload players to other teams then fine, at least we didn’t help them make ourselves look stupid.
I truly hope you are supporter of every bad decision management has made in the past, because if they sign AJ, it’s your logic that has haunted us for so long and the logic that will continue to haunt us in the future.

This is the forums fault, just as much as the disruptor.

Who for the record I enjoy. It’s been an interesting off season that’s for sure

I like his posts as well. I think he has better information than myself but I have no information. I also think until it's official it doesn't count. It may be close and then players change their minds or something comes up.

Wah? Why would I support bad decisions. I actually thought Blair was a bad idea. Seemed like a system player .... and he was . Also thought letting Farah go to ,back a stop gap coach was ... dumb.
Buying a 24 year old , above average player on a heavily subsidised contract . Not one of them .
If you can’t differentiate between LM and AJ,I dunno what to say. It’s not bad management to Improve the roster . It’s just not . Your talking about sins of the past . And I agree with you that they suck. But it really should only be 2 things that should be looked at .
Is X player a net gain .WAR in baseball terms.
If so , by how much.
Because by my count , we only need a few net gain players , and we are moving up the ladder. Which means finals .

I’m referring to the fact that our club has a reputation for being a joke within the league.
Signing AJ to allow souths to pursue Latrell is the punchline.
I’m taking about our image, isn’t that important? My opinion is, let’s not make it easy for souths to get Latrell, let’s not Assist them.
I’m not saying AJ would strengthen the squad or not, I’m just saying in doing so, it is a decision like the other bad decisions of the past, as it would add to joke we have made ourselves to be.
(In terms of all the bad decisions)

Can we put all this in perspective and stop the moaning. We have to spend like 95% of the cap or something. We went after some big fish and lucked out. We now need to explore and get some above average fish or stick with our current crop. Given alot of pur current crop is 18 Or under it isn't an opition.
Now madge looks like he is going the devil he knows root. Musgrove aj jennings are all from his past and he must feel they have above average value at the right price.
Let lm, arrow and the lot go we know it isn't happen i g so what can we get to help us moving forward.

Added to this everyone botched and moaned when we paid for a whole lot of old dudes. Now we are at least hitting younger players that can still develop further.

In saying all this its hard to skim through all the woah is me posts and arm chair salary cap experts.

Why are they so keen on subsidizing AJs contract? If he's a great player and still contracted what sense does that make to let him go for nothing?
It's obviously so they can clear cap for the bigger signings like LM, JAC and Arrow. Atleast give us Doueihi if we're gonna do them the favour. I feel like he helps with the team needs more then just a fast winger.

Only if LM loses 10 kgs and kills it at FB. Otherwise , Souths just paid 1 mil for a centre. The time will tell , I guess . But try not to let your anger at the Mayer , Humphries type regimes cloud what’s happening now.
Yes we offered him the 1. But that would have come with a huge caveat about expectations and performance. Like I said , we can only back the truck up. LM was totally worth it.
We just have to wait for the next one . And there will be one , just around the corner. AJ was the next great hope post Inglis . He just never got there with them . He killed it at the 1 for PNG , as side note recently.

Look man, we are on different pages here clearly.
After next season a lot of talent is available, I just want players and their agents to take us serious, signing AJ will not help change our current reputation.
The only positive thing that could happen is... If AJ kills it next season for us.
The ideal situation would be AJ kills it for us, and LM becomes a flop for the bunny’s, then the joke is on them.
But as of right now, I fear we are about to become the punchline for one of them “Hold my beer” videos.
Like.. “Hold my beer while I sign this player and give him everything that he is asking for”

I would prefer to be one of the clubs that are talked about during September because of performance, not because that is when out offseason started.

Nah , we are on the same page . I get what your saying . And I understand your point of view. I just think it’s fueled by emotion. I think that’s what’s been our Achilles heel in the past .
Like Moltzen signing with the dragons . We should have let him go in hindsight. Emotional decision. Letting Fifita go , because sheens didn’t like him . Etc.
It’s not always incompetence. It’s just unbinding loyalty. Sometimes to people **cough** Moses , who don’t deserve it .
I like our run on next year compared to last if we sign JAC and AJ and Musgrove . It’s light years better actually .

Better than Jennings anyway - that's about it, except for a few cc players.

The narrative seems to always be steered away from the "body language" being absolutely spot on in that case.

Aj is just an average player who would join our club coz his club doesnt want him and we are probably the only option. I'd love to get a star player but it feels like it won't happen. Eep.

If he’s contracted, he doesn’t have to go. No one would be holding a gun to his head, telling him he must come here. Players aren’t aren’t pawns.

I was thinking more the constant media stories around us, not what other teams supporters think. It's not just Mitchell, though that's been a circus in itself, but they've been linking us with just about every other player that is on or off the market. Then there's the Reynolds stuff as well that has just surfaced and the fall out with Matterson before all this. Last off season it was all about Ivan wanting to leave the bus early, our new signing Musgrove's charge and deregistration, our penalty for breaching the salary cap with Farah's ambassador role and the subsequent suspension of Pascoe because of it.

Really would just like a nice quiet off season where the team can go about their business of training hard and preparing for the season ahead without all the hoo ha and distraction that seems to surround us most years.

Amen
