Which guy? Doueihi? Plays a specialist position? Has played every position 1 - 7, the fact he is not a specialist is my biggest problem with him.

haven't people been saying he was a fullback but played elsewhere or have I got my information wrong??

He plays fullback and 5/8. He filled in one game on the wing and played one game at halfback when coming back from injury and Reynolds was out.

i get the possibilities and understand the logic behind them. My point is do we want to start an experiment at 6 in 2021? There is ZERO evidence that Doueihi is an NRL standard 5/8 let alone one that will get us to finals success. He might be, but there is no evidence that he is.

I for one applaud Pascoe for not wanting to pay the full price for Doueihi and approaching this carefully unlike when in the Ivan era when we threw big money at the first available players such as Packer, Reynolds and Mbye

Being patient and waiting for the right player will only benefit us for the long term and not put us in the same position in a few years

I agree with this ..No signing for the sake of signing , with a large portion of the playing roster coming off contract this season I believe this is the defining moment in the last decade .
There are many spaces available and plenty of money in the bank ! if wise heads prevail I truely believe there will be a premiership within the next 4 seasons . I do not get sucked into the paying overs to come , you get the right players at the right time they will sign ..

We will be paying overs regardless of whether it is now or in the next year or two. No-one wants to join our club.

If we're looking for a fb that can pass, then surely this guy would be the fit?


We already have Mbye who is a fb that can pass, but cant catch.

Dont get me wrong, of all the suggestions, Doueihi is the least bad suggestion Ive seen recently, but I think we need specialists. Someone who you KNOW is a specialist.

So as we stand now....
Thompson we have which while being no specialist will play his guts out. We know what we get with him
Linked to AJ who is a winger but no specialist. Proven 1st grader but not at the position we need. On good coin
Linked to Doueihi who plays 5/8 but can play fb. Potential but that's a bit of a double edged sword. Potential doesn't always translate to a long healthy career.....I would assume not as much coin as AJ but more years ahead of him....

Too many options for something that we need, but can't find the right player.....

Exactly.....but it is possible to shop at a store other than Souffs, believe it or not.

I was lurking around the Souths forum, and they won’t be happy to lose Adam Doueihi. Personally, I like Thompson at wing. I would love to see Madge land 2 of these .. Doueihi, JAC, and Alex Johnston. All 3 would be too much to hope for.? What do you think?

Douehi and JAC would balance out the team very nicely. We need to get things done.

I reckon Cotric'll end up Roosters. Young Raiders prospect, a few of them have been poached there (Ferguson, Carney). But yes, I'd love to get him, he'd be worth a bit more above JAC for us I reckon.

Me too! As I said in a previous post while we are patiently waiting for the right player to come along, other teams are already building and leaving us behind. It’s the middle of January already, most teams rosters are settled and players are well into the pre season. If we are patiently waiting for the right players to come along then I assume that the club is focused on 2021 and next year is, once again, a sacrificial year because unless we make some sort of move to shore up our backline for 2020 soon, there will be no one decent available.

Me too! As I said in a previous post while we are patiently waiting for the right player to come along, other teams are already building and leaving us behind. It’s the middle of January already, most teams rosters are settled and players are well into the pre season. If we are patiently waiting for the right players to come along then I assume that the club is focused on 2021 and next year is, once again, a sacrificial year because unless we make some sort of move to shore up our backline for 2020 soon, there will be no one decent available.

Apparently its a very active player market atm! Highly doubt it but that's what I keep being told.
