Do we all really think we know more than Madge and Pascoe. Madge clearly knows what he is doing and has a plan. he has won a premiership for Christ sake. if he doesn’t want to sign some 1 for a certain price there is probably a Reason for that. every 1 is entitled to there opinion but seriously to think there just sitting there doing nothing is insane

How do you know his plan is working?

Because all of our brightest young stars have resigned we have even recruited the next Payne hass and things are moving in the rite direction it’s going to take a while to clean up the mess Ivan Has left us We have to be patient to make sure we don’t end up with another dud rushed signing

Madge has won a nrl gf, a super league gf, and taken the Kiwi team to victory over Australia when nobody gave them a snowball in hell hope.
It’s true Madge and Pascoe are privy to some inside info, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have an opinion based on our personal perception of what we hear and read from respected sports journalists.

I can see many people on here still giving it to the club for not having a major signing yet....I tend to sit back and wait until something positive is released by the club, when that is,I don't know...
From seeing what is going on atm,I honestly believe that Madge and co don't want to make the same mistakes like in the past;I also believe that with so many young guys in the system atm,Madge seems to want to create from within..I remember when we had some great young players when Sheens was here and he got that legend Gareth Ellis to the club, that was great...maybe Madge is working on the same formula as it seems to work for us...just my opinion though...

The biggest mistake is to do nothing, even a poor mistake is an attempt to fix the problem we have. But saying this, we just need to limit our exposure, spending $500k to attempt to fix a significant hole is in my view, worth it.

Doing nothing fixes nothing

I can see what your saying Lidcombe, however, how many holes did we try and fix before to no avail...Ballin,Reynolds come to mind..they did something and fixed nothing...
Im saying that Madge and co are being significantly more wary with the money they have to get the right player at the right price ...they are doing something but are more careful than in the past so it seems..

Sure fire way to not fix it though is to do nothing.

Im not saying that they are doing nothing...Im saying that they are much more careful to not make the same errors that they have in the past...nobody knows whats going on atm behind the scenes...in my opinion the club is being so much more patient than in other years...its a good thing don't you think?

No I am not happy with the decisions we have made this offseason, we are heading into 2020 with a weaker top 30 than 2019 while our decisions have made our opposition stronger. I am over hearing that next year will be better, we are in January 2020 and people are already saying we are building for 2021.

Im not really worried about 2021,it appears to me that Madge and the club are trying to find the right player now at the right price to fit within our roster to strengthen it so 2021 will have a better platform to work off since so many players come off contract in 2021...as many have seen before, success doesn't come overnight and I think that the club is trying to get a stable roster together including all the young buys we have made so as our next few seasons will produce a premiership and a heck of a lot more stability within our playing ranks..

This club has been trying to get it right for the last 9 years, I don't think it is too much to expect an improved top 30 for 2020? There is nothing new that the club has implemented that we haven't tried in the past, it wasn't that long ago we had the best crop of juniors coming through and that got us nowhere.

I'm not expecting a miracle overnight, I just want to see a better team than we fielded last year and as of right now that will not be the case!

Completely understand how you feel cochise, things have been bitterly disappointing over many years, however I honestly think that things will change for the better and I also think Madge will make the right decisions to put this club in a far more competitive field than before,it will just take sometime to rid us of the mess we have had...

You don't do damage to your cap and immediate signing prospects by "doing something" like signing 2 or 3 players at overs for long terms e.g. Reynolds, Mbye, Jennings etc.

Conversely unless we do something we won’t be competitive in 2020. Backline is atrocious. Need to roll the dice and not be scared of mistakes of the past. No point sitting back watching the comp just pass us by.

Doesn't matter what we do for 2020 we "ain't" going to win the comp.

However, if we don't do anything stupid, (buy people we need, not that we can fill a gap with) we can put ourselves in a good position to buy those players, promote those players and give the whole dam comp a shake for 2021 onwards.

There are very few players you would really want to grab on the market at the moment ( one may come on the market) - however there are a lot of players coming off contract at the end of this year. Yes there will be more clubs looking that have money but I doubt they will have as much as us.

I would hardly say our backline is atrocious, not the greatest but with our improved forward pack we can easily make the finals this year. Yes, that is my opinion Avo, not yours, I do understand.

I’ll tell you another thing about Madge. There’s not another coach in the nrl could have got us to within a whisker of playing finals footy.
To those who think we can’t win the gf in 2020, did you also have that opinion in January 2005?

More chance of signing five Marquee players for next year than find ONE respected sports journalist.

2005 had a golden crop coming through.

A ball playing Origin class FB.

A great, big, winger in Richards.

A top class GK.

One of the best halves pairings of the decade.

If you can see all that being possible in our 2020 backline, then I'd suggest you rush down to the TAB.

We all have differing expectations of this side, but conceding that this year will basically be a rebuilding one, and that 2021 will be the year we do well in the player market is depressing.
If we can’t or choose not to sign anyone of note now, why will we do it for 2021? The whole “not paying overs” is ridiculous. We haven’t played Semis since 2011, no quality player will join us or see us a preferred destination unless we entice them. They are not going to come to us when their Club or similar destinations to us like Dogs or Parra are offering the same money.
Well be having this same discussion in 2 or 3 years with that mindset

I do agree with things are looking better in the years in the future, but things are looking worse for 2019. My patience with waiting for next year is done, we are always waiting on potential but I potentially could be dead by next year!

I’d go Adam Doueihi should be able to get him for 350 or 400.Id then go hard for Bj Leilua,,, Roosters will sign Addo Carr to save face for losing Latrell plus have aging wingers in Morris and Hall. Signing them 2 will help our backs but hooker is still looking thin until Simpkins comes up.

Well.? Did you think they could do it in 2005?
Gotta admit I honestly thought they were the snowball in hell personified, that is until , I think it was round 15 against the Broncos. Broncos had racked up a decent score but late in the second half the Tigers played like they hadn’t played all season.
I’m just saying it’s far too early to write them off before the first ball is kicked.

Matulino, McQueen, Reynolds, Packer and Jennings can be classified As our recent costly mistakes. And for me we can perhaps add Mbye and Taylor to that list. Having Smith and McIntyre also clogging up our $s and top 30 list sure begs a question ...... how many costly mistakes can we afford to make.
