I think we should leave one spoy open for a quality player once available on market

Don't disagree with tactic / thought but what position do people think would be most valuable as our last spot? As well as who the 1player is, what position most would have a good value for WT.

A high level prop or a high level winger is probably what we need for this year.

I know our young forwards look very promising but it will be difficult for them to play consistent footy against the best forward pack in the competition, and personally I think it’s the weakest aspect of our team at the moment, one really good prop would round the team out.

In saying that there’s every chance someone like Musgrove, Mikaele or Twal play their best footy ever and smash it for us.

Broncos are regarded as having one of the better packs in the game but they only have one forward in their predicted 17 who is over 24. I'm not worried about the age of our pack at all. I think there is a lot of quality and size there.

Agree, don’t think we should be in a hurry to sign more forwards until they get some game time together when potential cohesion can be assessed? IMO
I would have said we needed a hooker with 80 plus games but we got one with 29hrs. I hope he can steer our young pack around the park. Someone in the pack has to be a leader by example.
From this point I’m hoping we can pick up a speedster who can read BJ.

Just reading the last few posts I have to say Packer is the leader we need. If he is fit and if he is motivated he can be an intimidating and aggressive forward leader. With our current pack we need him to play this role and inspire the younger blokes to be their best.

In his first year here, I thought that he was going to do this. He looked intimidating. he hit hard in attack and defence and genuinely looked to be the one we missed in all those years with Woods leading our pack. But he was also at the same time only churning out like 40m.

That has to change

Interesting though, if we could save some of Packer's cost via a move to say Souths, we could conceivably grow our apparent cap space of $600k to say $950k if we recouped around $350k (us paying half)
That puts most players in range
Even without that extra, I can't imagine we go into the season with $600k in the bank, why would you?
I don't reckon we are finished yet

Absolutely it does. 40m is embarrassing.

Agree but my concern is Musgrave having a year off playing will take him time to get back into it.

I really like Mikaele but am wary of the second season syndrome. The hopeful me posted a while back that M&M would do well this year.

It’s reported that Twal has put on some serious bulk so hopefully he shows the rest of the forwards the way. I don’t think extra muscle will affect his heart too much. Good kid.

I think the club would rather not spend the money and promote a junior instead of spending it just for the sake of it. Unless there’s someone they want, they won’t spend it. They’ll be patient like Pascoe said

From SSTID2036 off the Warren

Tigers offered Souths packer Eisenhuth and Elijah Taylor & we said no to all 3

titans will take them

NRL 2020: Jack Wighton on cusp of new four-year, multimillion-dollar mega deal with Canberra Raiders
With the pommies Raiders have got and CROKER and COTRIC off contract there won't be much left for either one

I don't understand. Did we offer them and Souths said no ? Or, did Souths offer to take them and we said no ?

Because if you plan to sign a player sometime around June 30 you are only paying for a 4 month contract, so that $950,000 would be the equivalent of signing a player for $2.85m, even $600,000 is equivalent to having $1.8m spare.

Really if you are looking at signing any player around June 30 a spare $350,000 is more than enough.

Looking at the big names who are young enough and are currently only signed to end 2020 it's pretty slim pickings

Forwards: David Fifita, Frizell, Nathan Brown & Shaun Lane
Backs: Milford, Cotric, Wighton & (dare I say it) Latrell

Sounds like Wighton might be staying put and I doubt Fifita shifts, so for me it'd be Frizell (or Nathan Brown) & Cotric (or Milford)

Have I got this wrong .. I can name 26 players still in our top 30 players .. ?? Unless were are allowed to name some of those development players in out top 30 .. ??

Doueihi
Thompson
Jennings
Nofoaluma
Leilua
Mbye
Momirovski
Talua
Marshall
Walters
Reynolds
Brooks

Chee-Kam
Taylor
Lawrence
McQueen
Leilua
Aloiai
Garner
Eisenhuth
Liddle
Clark
Packer
Mikaele
Musgrove
Twal

So that's 26 players still.. if the player swap is approved we lose one (Momirovski) but then gain one (Grant) .. still 26 players .. !!

Are any of these players: Smith, Madden, Hoffman, Cini, Seyfarth, Simpkin, Bradley, McIntyre in our Top 30.

Who am I missing from our top 30 Players .. ??
(puts flame proof jacket on)

I look at our weak points and focus must be
- benji replacement
- we need fast, tall wingers
- goal kicker - this will cost us games again this year
- we need a prop leader and impact forward
- hooker makes me very nervous regardless of Simpkin/Lids
