Marin is big enough to play FG centre for Wests Tigers. He would also be a very good investment as a utility filling other positions such as 1/2, 5/8 and hooker when the situation arises.

Who is Marin?

My apology, that should read Te Maire Marin who I am led to believe is in a lot of doubt about which team he will be applying for in 2018.

I reckon we need only 2 more pieces to complete the puzzle for the 2018 season. We need a big hard hitting, hard running, no nonsense, impact 2nd rower .. and we need a competent goal kicker .. !!

Or can Ivan train Lolohea to be our number one goal kicker .. ??

1\. Lolohea
2\. Nofoaluma
3\. Suli
4\. Milne
5\. Rona or Founa
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
8\. Matulino
9\. McIlwrick
10\. Packer
11\. McQueen
12\. ?????
13\. Taylor

Forwards: Grant, Twal, Sue, Lawrence, Marsters, Felise, Tatola, Aloiai, Eisenhuth, Liddle
Backs: Thompson, Watene-Zelezniak, Idris (?), Gamble, …. not sure about these two: Naiqama, Chee-Kam

Who else should Ivan target to make us competitive for next season .. ??

Players off contract that would make a difference would be Albert Vete, Jai Arrow, Luke Lewis, Kelepi Tanginoa, Bodene Thompson, Tagatese, Brenton Lawrence.

Wouldn't mind another grub in the team. Get Greg out of his ESL deal.

Just had a quick scroll through my database and it's pretty slim pickings for off contract hookers. Michael lichaa the pick of the bunch which is pretty horrendous (assuming the peats re-signing is true) outside of that someone like Paul carter is probably the next best. But he's caught up in the SKD cocaine issue.

Have loved all your information and I thank you.

However insinuating that Lichaa or even mentioning Carter as prospective replacements for McIlwrick and Liddle is absolutely astounding. We are talking about 2 hookers who have to play with people like Lovett and a bunch of juniors that have very little experience.

I know from previous posts that you do not rate our number nines but to suggest your 2 replacements is the ultimate insult to these to guys. Liddle is so far in front of them even at this early stage of his career it isn't funny.

I think you may have missed SG's point Russell, I don't believe he is saying we should sign Lichha or Carter more just stating they are the only decent options that are available on the market, he even stated that Lichha being the pick of the bunch is "pretty horrendous".

I would like to add to this thread by saying I hope there are plenty more signings to be announced there are still one hell of a lot of plodders left in the Top side and reserve grade..many say a proper clean out is under way but these guys are still around!

What are your expectations? Not being facetious, we've signed 10 players since Cleary joined, 11 total, that's a pretty big roster revision already. Honestly I'm not sure if we've ever had a single season where we signed so many players.

Add another 3 or 4 and it's the best part of a complete side we've gone and purchased. Then you want to give those guys 1 pre-season to click and get everything right?

Also how many good signings can you realistically make in one season? Even this year with the quality and quantity of players off contract, there is lots of competition.

I have no idea what's happened to Te Maire Martin at the Panthers but, if the rumours are true and he can't find a club at the moment, the Tigers should step up. In my opinion he is more talented than any of the other signings so far. Yes, we have Brooks, Reynolds and Lolo covering the halves, but competition is good, injuries happen and he is probably better than the other options. Add to this, Martin, is young and probably wouldn't cost much. Why aren't we hearing any conversations?

He might of fallen out of favour with the players. If thats the case then it makes sense as to why cleary has not put a enquiry in about martin.

He might be the type of player that you don't want at your club.

We've heard the rumour but our club is in a better position to make a decision based on his time with us. Outstanding utility signing if we can get him to the club.

Apparently Griffin didn't like 2 young inexperienced halves playing together TMM Cleary.
Defensively not strong enough with both in the side.

Yep that was my point not any real decent options other than peats. So tigers are stuck with these 2 it looks like

BANG, BANG!

And Beau Scott …..

Beau Scott is on a ridiculous backended deal of 1-million at the eels next year. They are desperate to offload him and pay part of his contract to go. The Tigers nearly took him but pulled out due to injury concerns. He is busted.

In regards to Martin being on the outer at Penrith I read over the weekend (for the life of me I can't recall the source) that there is far more to this story than just lack of form or that coach is dubious about having 2 young halves.
The story stated that a fellow team mate at Penrith approached coach demanding Martin be removed from the team due to Martin having an affair with his wife. The article didn't name the player who requested Martin be let go but I guess if true explains why he's so desperate to leave Penrith.

I heard some rumblings about an alleged affair with a player's partner and was tempted to match it to the Te Maire Martin situation. It's obviously untenable at Penrith and, if the rumour is true, Martin has made a serious mistake. However, does this stop the Tigers making a play for him? Before this all blew up, I'm sure he was perceived as a very centred, humble young player, especially at Wests. I repeat, The Tigers should definitely try to get him back.

I have to agree, very talented young bloke who isn't reaching his potential at Penrith. I'd be tempted to try bring him back though someone like Watson probably offers more utility value being able to cover hooker, halves and FB.
