Tigers should be extending McIntyre for two years this year and also Aloai, Nofa for 3 years from 2021. Mikalele and Blore are the other two I would extend for two years from 2021. We need to keep the players showing potential and those performing strongly otherwise signing new players is fools gold.
We need to have as many players that are juniors or were given their first grade debuts with the Tigers. Aloai, Mikalele, Blore, Nofa, Douihei, Brooks, Liddle, Twal, McIntyre, Talau, Kepoa.
Our issue has been proven first graders signed from other teams. Packer, Matulino, Mbye, Reynolds, McQueen, ET. If we had invested more wisely the team would be in much better shape.
We need a Luciano Leilua type signing every year. We are not far away in my view but these contracts won’t correct until 2021/2022. It’s why releasing and signing younger playlists is the only play. Big names if they are game breakers is the only exception.
I hope they are being proactive in keeping a hold of Aloiai, Twal, Blore, Nofa and Liddle. Extend these guys as soon as you can, others like Garner and Musgrove can wait would like to keep them but they’re not top priority. McIntyre would be nice to keep too. If you wait until November they can look elsewhere and bump their prices up and you won’t keep them all, start talking to them now!
Aloiai, Blore and Twal are the key ones. Really important we hang onto them. I think McIntyre has been pretty good but I don't rate him as high as others. Happy to be proven wrong though.
Yeah we need to hold onto these guys. The sooner we do it the cheaper they are, there’s no reason to wait around let’s talk to them now!
McIntyre for cheap is worth hanging on to hopefully he keeps improving, at the very least he’s good depth
I liken McIntyre to the Melb lock. He does a job well and becomes a cornerstone of the pack.
I'll add that I loved the way Seyfarth got stuck in. Sure he got belted but he was right back up giving his all. Give him a year he will be damaging.
Both players wouldn't make the 17 of any other NRL side. Seyfarth is probably 2 years away from first grade. What do we do in the meantime? He may develop into a good player but he's not worth a top 30 contract unless we can offload 10 players. Sign him to the Magpies if possible, but someone else might give him a contract. He made 3 errors in 10 mins. Costly errors too. He was trying though, but that's nowhere near enough.
McIntyre shouldn't be in our 17 either, we should definitely be aiming way higher. People had extremely low expectations when he was named. He superseded expectations so everyone likes him now. He's solid. Maybe a spot 25-30 in a squad.
I did write previously that if you give McIntyre a chance, he is the type to grab it and blossom. I have not changed
my opinion on him. There is lots of improvement in him and I see McIntyre developing into a Finucane style lock with good ball playing skills.
Seyfarth is younger and the mistakes he made are to be expected. He has the mobility, build and work ethic to be a good for WTs. Imo he is a wide running forward as he is quick for his size.
I watched him play that role at Balmain where Doueihi, Suli and Papenhuyzen were his team mates. Lachlan Ilias, who is with Souths, may have been in the team. Potentially 5
NRL players form an SG Ball team. I heard Sheens once say you are lucky if you have 2 from an NYC team.
It's subjective and we will have to see how their careers progress.
