Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

One thing I’ve been thinking about regarding Proctor is that next year, what experienced second rowers will be at the club? McQueen and Rowdy are out the door, leaving us with Luciano MCK, Blore and Garner, all three have not really played that much footy.

Proctor (again, for the right price on a short deal) could really help mentor our guys especially Blore. There’s more positives than just on the field from him.

Wish we got CHN though 😢

I don’t really think he’d add anything. He hasn’t added anything to the Titans.

I think he would add a little - not heaps. More off field than on field that’s for sure. If there’s no other options and he’s cheap, sure. 2022 we have all the money and lots of room to sign big names

Katoni Staggs has apparently requested a release, he is a player you could build a club around, also the backrower the Tigers have at Marsden High looks impressive, good to see the Tigers active in the Qld market.

Not sure where you got this info but i would chase Staggs hard... Very hard.
He has the complete game to me for a center - Speed, Aggression, Defence and a willing to win.. You watch him play and he gives 100% every game and can hold his head up after every game ...... Wait for it ..... I believe he can kick Goals also..

Staggs is the type of player we need. A guy who you give the ball too and he does something. He can kick goals as well.

JAC and Staggs would be awesome.

McINtyre has been a nice surprise, however in the team we are aiming to be he should be a backup player who you can count on if required
Also the term ‘ball playing lock’’ needs to be thrown out of the rugby league vocabulary, one hasn’t existed for 20 years and they aren’t coming back

Jake Trbojevic and Victor Radley both control the point of attack for their teams and are the main ball distributors. Not every team needs or wants a lock to play this role but it an option that lets your halves play out wider.

Fellas, Staggs, JAC, Proctor,Tamou, TPJ or whomever are pipe dreams, until our club is free of the Cleary Era, attempt to buy a premiership, with aging players on overs with long contracts. Trust the club, we can't afford it and any attempt will put us back behind the black ball for even longer.
The club looks like growing a window with young, improving players that will hopefully mature at the same time. Can't wait to see Stef, Blore, Josh, Alex, Macca, Mik, Tal, Esu and a fully fit AD running around next year, going to be a good.
Unfortunately we tanked this year already.

That’s what we said in 2015 when our cap was a mess. I remember Go saying it would be several years before we could make serious moves on the player market.

And then came Cleary

Can anyone post the article titled "Giants Of The Langer Cup"?

The article concerns the Qld Schoolboy RL Competition.

Thanks.

The article is in the Courier Mail and other leading Qld newspapers.

Regarding Proctor, the question is "is he better than Garner"? I'd say yes particularly defensively where we have massive problems on that right edge.

2 years at the right price would be okay. Not for silly dollars though.

A lot of people are scarred from McQueen. Proctor is a better play than McQueen and would hopefully (as long as Madge is smart) not cost as much

Reality is they're very different situations, one had a pretty serious neck injury and the other barely misses a game through injury. They just happened to be from the same club.

Both are at the backend of their careers. If Proctor has a wife or partner it will require relocation from the comparative luxury lifestyle and safety of the GC to Sydney. Lots for both parties to consider.

Staggs extended for a year to end 2021 in Dec 19 and wouldn't be on much with the Broncs
I agree, if we are willing to look at JAC for $500-600k I'd go to $700k for Staggs, maybe even $3 million for 4 years if we could make it work
Same deal for Christian Welch and we are set and can fill the rest of our 7 remaining spots with Eiso, McIntyre, Benji (all on around $200k avge) 4x development player graduates on $115k

21 now + Staggs + Welch + 7 listed. Works for me and I'd say salary cap doable

Depends on what GC are offering? If there are no other takers, isn't it a pretty good indicator we are paying overs and not to proceed?

When will people realise it doesn’t matter who we want to or don’t want to sign, high quality players do not will not come to tigers and if they do their looking for the exit real quick.Im afraid we are destined to sign up and comers with dare I say it potential or your Packer Renyolds of the world

We're not far away if we can sign two established players for next year plus a few on the periphery of the NRL. The younger players we have will be a year older with more experience.

Paws I agree but as you said we need those good established players and that’s my concern can we actually sign the players we need
