Garner for Sirro is interesting. Garner is a better hole runner but is very weak defensievely but is on 250k. Sirro is a solid defender and solid attacker but is on 500k and had a history or injury, albeit not recently.

On face value we're getting an old but more solid player but on twice the price, and he'd want a 3 year deal at 500k. Will we be better off in 2-3 years time?

Only two years older. Garner is 25. Think for our squad Sironen is a better fit, we’ve got too many guys who can score points but don’t do the defence and tough stuff. In 2-3 years Blore should be our man main hopefully

Yeah, think in the now, not 3 years time.

The biggest disappointment for me if Nofo signs with another club is we could have secured JAC by releasing Nofo to the Storm this year.
Sliding doors moment.

Assuming Nofo wanted to move to Melbourne.
The club wouldn’t have been able to just say player a go to Melbourne. We don’t have a nba style system here and players have an actual say in the decisions.

Statements like this are pointless.

I’m confident he would have gone if the club presented it to him as an option.
What would you choose, to play in one of the best Rugby League systems in the world with guaranteed finals and a big shot at playing in a GF, or slugging it out for hopefully a 9th or 10th spot whilst putting up with all the garbage our club attracts?

Having to live in Melbourne would negate all those positives you mentioned I reckon ?

I very much doubt Sirro would be on 500k probably closer to 350K, Manly are paying the T brothers DCE and Marty big dollars and AFB would also be on good money also.

In regard to Nofoaluma

He is a passionate first grade footballer who does give 100 percent each week.
But there has to a limit to what you offer a player who still has flaws in his game, The board need to look around at other wingers Of his quality to find out what he is worth and if he doesn’t believe what we offer him to be enough than that’s All they can do.

What's the (almost) leading try scorer in the NFL worth?

That would be Derrick Henry from Tennessee Titans. 3rd for total touchdowns last year. Earns $12.5 million per year.

Yeah, okay, typo but you still got your smart retort wrong.

Lol, I genuinely thought you meant NFL (thought you were being cheeky). If we’re talking NRL wingers traditionally that’s the lowest paid position right? Couldn’t be thinking more than 550k right?

I reckon he's earned that though, don;t you think? All you want from a player is 100% commitment and he definitely gives that.

Being able to defend consistenly would be nice as well.

Amazing how the NRL CEO and Chairman come out of the woodwork when Roosters want something changed.

Well actually Souths were the original applicants to the NRL and V'Landys said way back that he'd consider it.

Then everything went belly-up specifically between Souths and the kid.

Garners 25 I think ? He’s only a few years older.

Is he really on 500? That doesn’t sound right to me. Also correct Garner is 25 and Siro 27.

Siro in the past season averaged 20 more metres per game and tackled at 90% efficiency to garners 88%

Am I right in thinking the Garner for Sironen swap is being forced by Tigers as part of the Aloiai release to Manly, and that Manly may cover the extra $$ that Sironen would be earning than Garner?

Maybe; Garner is a Voldemort signing, correct?

I am wondering if Madge doesn't entirely rate Garner? He played him Round 1 both 2019 and 2020, so clearly Garner was high enough in his esteem at one point (or at least one of the better players we had), but the potential of a trade with Manly has been mooted for a while.

Wasn't Garner the one who told Madge that he felt like he was Walking on Eggshells? I get the feeling that he's not the sort of personality/mentality that Madge ideally wants

That’s 88% of tackles he attempted . He doesn’t get a missed tackle when the player goes clean Through . And that can happen At least Once a game . I’d love to know how many line breaks were caused between himself and Benji last year

Prozenko's article suggests if De Bellin is cleared, it will have huge implications for the Illawarra salary cap and roster management. If they get stuck, we could assist by taking Cody Ramsay. Perhaps his mother can stay at Illawarra.

Our pack looks stronger with the 4 new players and need Musgrove uninjured. Garner is a fringe NRL player so happy for him to wear Manly colours. Josh I liked but not anymore. Happy to move him on like all the junior signings building for the future. We need to go all out to get Laurie early. Mbye a season at full back concerns me greatly

It definitely seems like Madge and Hartigan have the bottom up approach to recruitment in phase 1. Work the young guys hard and hope that 2 or 3 really kick on for 2022.
Recruit 2 top line players for 22 and suddenly we have a really competitive team.
Meanwhile the gun 18yr olds keep pushing for spots as they become 20yr olds.

This is the most positive I've felt as a Tigers fan in a very long decade.

I thought our Dev players had been settled on. I would say probably the year, after but plenty of competition for development spots in 2022

I wish his defence was 100 committed to staying on his wing.

Probably will be without that Legend playing 5/8.

So now that’s Marshall’s fault too? Lol

He was the one that was sticking his arm out, causing players outside him to come in.

He must have a long arm because Nofo was doing the same thing when Marshall was at Brisbane

Nofo has been doing the same thing defensively for years no matter who goes inside him
Nofo Protection Society NPS
Great attacking player awful defender

Thats true - but would they do the same for us or one of the other also rans. It also opens up a huge can of worms. Who decides which players are of exceptional talent and should be allowed to play at a younger age than others.

Would Matt Lodge be a possibility also ?
Subsidised by broncos?
8. Tamau
10. Lodge
11. Luciano
12. Sironen
13. Joe O

Musgrove
Twal
Stefano
Blore

Tigers sacked Lodge a few years back for his New York antics. Hard to imagine the club wanting him back.
