Hope we’re looking at England for potential signings too. Their season only just finished

Problem is they get homesick. They probably would want to join the raiders because they have pommy boys there.

Widdop got homesick for the UK lifestyle. Unfortunately his wfe and kids were homesick for the Australian lifestyle.

I never understood that from him. I mean, he came to Australia when he was a teen.

He gave up a large contract and probably a coaching role afterwards at the Dragons plus living by the Wollongong Ocean as Fatty Vautin called it.

Yes I know, never understood it. Thought it was a bizarre decision.

Could have had a sick parent or something. Maybe he wanted to go back and spend time with family for a year or two. Who knows.

Widdop would block the path for AD.

I'd like to see what he does when he's able to focus on one position and this one is his natural one. He has a lot to work on particularly defensively but he seems to have the raw skills.

We still have Madden, Walters, and Talau for cover if needed.

I'm more concerned about wing, fullback and second row. If we don't get Laurie this year, AD is 5/8 and Mbye is injured, who plays fullback?

Manly have 2 players on that money (Tom Trbojevic and DCE). They pay their other good players peanuts. Morris brothers, Tupou etc. are not on much.

Not many are worth it, but Tedesco is worth that IMO.

Where did these Milford rumours come from I can’t find anything on it and I’m hoping that it’s not true. Would be a massive waste of money IMO!!

The thing about other supporter bases, social media sites and usually sports journalists is they enjoy seeing Wests Tigers in a sufferable position.
The perception we mistreat our own, the assumption we should always settle for less or even worse deserve to stay in the hole we've dug ourselves in simply because we've caused it and/or done it so much.
It's why it's so easy for them to apply illogical reasoning with anything WT related or apply arguments of incompetence in current assessments (of us) whilst withholding all facts - as most are usually a bunch of morons who take pleasure from any of our misfortunes and wish only to see us continually at our worst.

There’s plenty of tigers supporters , with an axe to grind , who do this as well .

Talau and Momo are not wingers, Madden is a halfback, we need a secondrower and a winger I think

They are good at whatever it is they do. Keary and Tedesco are new contracts so they will likely push one of the older players out for that, most likely by medically retiring Cordner.

Suaalli is an interesting one. It sounds like he's not going to get any crazy money, but he can get out of the contract whenever he wants.

AD is unproven at 5/8th, Is my point. He was bought as a first attempt Fullback with the potential of moving to the halves if that didn't work out.

My issue with AD is that (and just my opinion) but when I was watching him play, I felt like every time he threw a pass I would be expecting a 50/50... either it would hit the guy on the chest and be a cracker or it would be too low/high/behind the man.

I hope he works out because otherwise we will have two very highly paid #14's.... and then we take the risk of Milford too who is in the same mould as Mbye and AD.

He’s played his entire junior career at 5/8, it’s his natural position. Only got shifted around at souffs

In regards to the passing and stuff, perhaps positioning play and fatigue played a huge part. At 5/8 in the line he will do a lot less effort work than a fullback would require, leading to more crisp passing

It was only 1 game I know but the last game he filled in at 5/8 was enough to convince me he’ll be fine

I like the idea of Adam at 5/8th. I think he fits right into the middle of park quite well.

From a standing start he has pace, but lacks top speed running, which as 5/8th is sufficient. He is comfortable in the middle - he played his best football in the middle.

I like him there.

Man this Widdop stuff is delusional ! The guy hasn’t played even average football for 3 years . He’s just keeping his head above water in SL, a league that has star players like Bevan French , and Jackson Hastings .
He was alright for 2 seasons 7 years ago. He’s not that player anymore .

If there's one thing you can guarantee from fan forums it's a willingness to put together all-star teams from about half a dozen years ago.

Mbye hasn't even been that bad. He was in SOO last year, was annointed captain and has had a starting role when fit. We seem to judge people based on whatever rumoured figures they're on.

Well, judging players based on how much salary cap they use is the most sensible way of doing so. And since we don't have publicly available figures we're forced to go on rumours/reports.

I mean, I tend to agree that Mbye isn't an awful player. It's just that if he's chewing up nearly a million dollars of cap je's an absolute catastrophe. Mbye on 300k, whatever - he's an average to good centre making about market rate for that. Mbye on 950k is an ok centre plus a winning bid for Josh Addo-Carr.
