Pearce at a discounted price is a yes from me

He'll never play for WT.

What’s your reasoning?

Said he'd never play for the same club as his old man - always felt he'd be compared to him.

What one person says and actually does ..... all depends on circumstances which are presented at place of time.

Wayne Pearce never played for Wests Tigers.

True. He was our first coach though (if memory serves).

Junior is a club legend, he played 16 games for NSW, 19 for AUS, coached us for 5 years and led us through the 'Super League shamozzle' and then the eventual Wests and Balmain merger.

So whilst he didn't play for WTs he's integral to our history.

WTs shouldn't pay anywhere near what Mitch is currently on @$1m p/y - $500-$600K p/y is fair at his age, 31.

If Brooks flops again in 2021, we need another option and we should consider Mitch.

Mansour to WTs to be announced in the next few days. Source is good

Laurie included? Any idea of contract length

Yes mate, Laurie included. Not sure on the contract length. Will post on here when I find out

Interesting backline with plenty of experience (and some youth/ speed) for 2021 potentially if this does happen:

1 Laurie
2 Mansour
3 BJ Leilua
4 Roberts
5 Nofo
6 Doueihi
7 Brooks

Mbye will definitely be bench.

I’m struggling with three things.

1. Why wouldn’t the tigers discuss Tommy as an option as for a trade with JAC early on the piece when they aren’t going to play him in fist grade.

2. Would they chuck Laurie in at fullback, untested with Mbye as a reserve straight away? Surely it would be the other way around with Laurie starting on the bench and replacing May gradually.

3. Would they really take on mansour who is ageing, on a decent contract, blocking youth (including Talau) similar player to our other winger and a player who wants a longer contract, just to get a rookie a year earlier when he plays the same position as our highest paid player?

My guess is (a) mansour is a replacement for nofa or (b) reports of Mbye going are true.

If a) then mansour direct replacement for nofa and Laurie won’t see a game until later in the season. If b) then I think Jimmy at fullback (someone else mentioned it too) which is a high risk however they will have Laurie to blood a rookie if It doesn’t work out, again presumably later in the season.

People complain that we will block the pathways of our youth (Talau / Kepaoa) by signing Mansour

But now some don't want to give that same pathway to Laurie (make him sit behind Mbye ?), one of Penriths best young talents
May I add the Laurie is older than both Talau and Kepaoa
If some think Talau and Kepaoa are ready to step up, then why not Laurie

I want Laurie here ASAP, not sure he’s first grade stock but worth a crack in our current predicament.

But, if it means we have to take on another old has-been and get Ivan out of a salary cap pickle I’m not keen, I’d rather we throw the sink at Crichton and at least make Ivan pay substantially overs.

Laurie will be here eventually anyway.

We still can for 2022

But taking Mansour probably allows Penrith to match any offer we make to Crichton, we’d be shooting ourselves in both feet.

Roosters and Melbourne will also be looking at Signing Crichton
And if that's the case I am sure we know how that will turn out for us
There is also Staggs available for 2022
We are probably in more need for Angus Crichton the Crichton from the Panthers

What position would Stephen Crichton play for us
Fullback or centre
For the money he will command it would need to be fullback
So where does that leave Laurie
In the halves ?
Where do that leave Brooke's and Doueihi
So many questions
But its not me that needs to answer and decide what is best for the club

So many questions is exactly right.Lauries wraps and statitics are minblowing,if only 1/2 true he could be buy ot the year.Crichton is similar and i think he has played some fullback.Douehi we all like but 5/8 is a spot that is key to the backline and if has no success i believe Laurie could be. Kei looks a talent but not availiable to mid 2021.If Crichton or similar on books in 2022 and with the young talent coming through we look good.Ronny Palmer said we are loaded wih 2nd rowers.

So true Snake but you must start somewhere, and i agree Brooks did not attain those heights but he always put in,and was the most consistant in a very ordinary and slow backline.

I thought that Mansour had two years left with the traitor and was looking for a three year contract to move on.

Its like employing a financial planner
They are there to help you get the best return on your money

Financial planners being there to get you the best return is actually the complete opposite way to the way the industry works. Financial planners are there to take money out of your hand and offer nothing at all in return.

Warren Buffet agrees with me.

Just for the record, that is not my quote, I was responding to that quote.

My quote was,

"As long as we don’t employ Elijah’s financial planner.
Some of them don’t want to return your money."

So I guess, along with Warren Buffet we both agree on the usefulness of financial planners.

As a financial planner, thats a little offensive. There are plenty of good ones out there that you don't hear about. Its only the rogues that get the attention - all industries have them.

Sorry if I offended you, and I would agree that there are good and and bad operators in every industry, and I take it that you are one of the good ones in your industry.

I understand that there has been a bit of a shake up in the industry in recent times relating to disclosure of commissions and requirements to put clients' interests first and for financial advisors to disclose any conflicts of interest.

However, various inquires and Banking Royal Commissions haven't done a lot to enhance the reputation of financial advisors.

My own personal experience with 2 or 3 financial advisors that I have had initial meetings with haven't really given me the confidence to part with the 2 or 3 thousand dollars that they wanted to come up with a plan for my particular situation.

Thats fair enough Hank. The Royal Commission has started raising the bar ie. degree required etc which can only be good for the industry.

Many people are skeptical about advisers for good reason but hopefully that changes once the riff raff has exited.

Said he'd never play for the same club as his old man - always felt he'd be compared to him.

What one person says and actually does ..... all depends on circumstances which are presented at place of time.

Wayne Pearce never played for Wests Tigers.

Are you sure about that?
These must be the same people thank think Tommy is a Wests Tigers great also. Mitchell doesnt seem like he's the sharpest tool in the shed so he must be thinking he doesnt want to play on the same grounds as his dad did.

Wayne Pearce never played for Wests Tigers. Where people could be confused is that he coached Wests Tigers in their early years.

I wasnt having a lash at you mate it was at Pearce as his old man never played for Wests Tigers but yes you're correct he did coach them so Mitchell is possibly referencing that.

Financial Planner (and my naivety) cost me $250K after investing in Great Southern and Timbercorp investments. I was lucky - some others committed suicide. Good and bad in every industry- I found the worst grub on the planet

So who gets better returns. The guy who invests in dumb indexes with low fees or the guy who goes through you.

It's not a trick question. If you know your stuff you know the answer.

Earl, do some research on what a financial planner does. Its not all investment management. Read up!

My wife and myself have a very good financial advisor, he has saved us tenfold what he changes.
He is so through and explains every little aspect of what he does and why he does it.
We did a lot of research and spoke to lots of his clients and sort advise from other financial advisers before we chose the right one for ourselves.
Do plenty of research before you engage someone to look after your financial affairs.

Are there any good financial advisors off-contract in 2021? They need speed, safe under the high ball and be able to pass both sides of their body

Two absolutely horrible investments right there mate. Accountants were also forcing them on people back in the day. Advisers receiving 10% commissions on these products was always going to end in disaster. A good reason why the industry still has a way to go in earning back trust.
