There’s a lot of faith being put in Jimmy the Jet but there’s a good chance he doesn’t play much footy for us.

I think you’re off the mark there. First centre picked IMO.

I might be, it’s impossible to tell. All I’m saying is, he could easily not get his head right and not play. If he’s going good then I’d pick him for sure, we’ll have to wait and see. Just seems like a lot of people are expecting that he’ll be right and smash it for us but who knows what will happen

Spot on. A lot of people are putting a HUGE amount of faith in The Jet. If he can get sorted and fire he will be a huge asset. If he can't get his mind right we are back to square 1. Hoping he gets back to his best, he will be great to watch if so.

Some people here basically wanting to offer Steven Chrichton around $1 mill per season....."play him fullback" etc etc. Has he ever played fullback whatsoever? He had a few highlights this season but he was playing in the most dominant team outside the best forward pack in the comp. Not sure he is the demi-god that some are making him out to be TBH.
4-try Keith Leilia or whatever his name was would've been signed up for a 10 year, $10 million dollar contract by some on here going by that one decent game he had.

Katoni Staggs is a better footballer than Stephen Chrichton . He should be the one we are after IMO.

Can't seem to find detailed stats of Chrichton anywhere. He seemed to be the beneficiary of plenty of good work done around him from what I saw. Staggs is more of a individual game-breaker who creates his own space and opportunities.

Mansour to WTs to be announced in the next few days. Source is good

Laurie included? Any idea of contract length

Yes mate, Laurie included. Not sure on the contract length. Will post on here when I find out

Interesting backline with plenty of experience (and some youth/ speed) for 2021 potentially if this does happen:

1 Laurie
2 Mansour
3 BJ Leilua
4 Roberts
5 Nofo
6 Doueihi
7 Brooks

Mbye will definitely be bench.

I’m struggling with three things.

1. Why wouldn’t the tigers discuss Tommy as an option as for a trade with JAC early on the piece when they aren’t going to play him in fist grade.

2. Would they chuck Laurie in at fullback, untested with Mbye as a reserve straight away? Surely it would be the other way around with Laurie starting on the bench and replacing May gradually.

3. Would they really take on mansour who is ageing, on a decent contract, blocking youth (including Talau) similar player to our other winger and a player who wants a longer contract, just to get a rookie a year earlier when he plays the same position as our highest paid player?

My guess is (a) mansour is a replacement for nofa or (b) reports of Mbye going are true.

If a) then mansour direct replacement for nofa and Laurie won’t see a game until later in the season. If b) then I think Jimmy at fullback (someone else mentioned it too) which is a high risk however they will have Laurie to blood a rookie if It doesn’t work out, again presumably later in the season.

People complain that we will block the pathways of our youth (Talau / Kepaoa) by signing Mansour

But now some don't want to give that same pathway to Laurie (make him sit behind Mbye ?), one of Penriths best young talents
May I add the Laurie is older than both Talau and Kepaoa
If some think Talau and Kepaoa are ready to step up, then why not Laurie

I want Laurie here ASAP, not sure he’s first grade stock but worth a crack in our current predicament.

But, if it means we have to take on another old has-been and get Ivan out of a salary cap pickle I’m not keen, I’d rather we throw the sink at Crichton and at least make Ivan pay substantially overs.

Laurie will be here eventually anyway.

We still can for 2022

But taking Mansour probably allows Penrith to match any offer we make to Crichton, we’d be shooting ourselves in both feet.

How, Mansour and Crichton are both off contract next year, so it won’t make a squirt of difference

I thought that Mansour had two years left with the traitor and was looking for a three year contract to move on.

Well if true hopefully we can get a full pre season with Laurie at fullback, Doueihi and Brooks in the halves and Liddle at Hooker
Just because we get Mansour doesn't mean we lose Nofoaluma
They play opposite wings
I know many dont agree with Mansour coming but he will add to our defence and experience
Competition will be a good thing for our club

Only downside is hopefully it doesn't cost us young blokes like Talau. He can negotiate elsewhere from end of next season I think.

Should have swapped JAC for TT, now we’ll end up with a washed up Mansour, so WT

JAC would have broken the bank, Mansour won't. If JAC didn't cut it as fullback, he would have screwed our salary cap no less than Reynolds. He's a great winger, but an unknown as fullback.

And on a side note, Mansour is not going to be on the news for posting dumb antics on Instagram.

We will have to deal with Mansour's Guido-mode cringe photos though of him in his all-white get-up, resplendent in those teenybopper 3/4 pants and boat shoes! Bloke wouldn't of looked out of place on Acropolis Now.

A lot of fashion police on here.

Honestly don’t get some of the hype around Kotoni Staggs

1) he’s not a metre eater
2) can’t defend
3) doesn’t pass the ball

Pulls off the occasional big play, but so does Joey Leilua and half the lot on this forum criticise that bloke to death. As much as it’d be nice to have Staggs, there are other positions we lack depth in which does not include centres. An enforcer up front would be nice...

By all means provide the info, but it's all taken with a grain of Salt until you get some runs on the board

Richards second stint in our colours was horrible but he did some funny kick offs which we got back 20% of the time and he scored a try 10 years earlier so everyone gave him a pass

And yes he cost us Korobiete

correct, the thing is (as is now) that we did not have a goal kicker, so Richards was there for his kicking, and that cost us Koribate!
Today we have a similar issue, we will need to find a space for our goal kicker - Momirovski

Has anyone seen Momp at training with the squad? I just went searching for Momo's stats v AD's (Momos are better) and I found two reports saying he has left.

I'd rather see him make a try-saving tackle. We've already had plenty of blokes who can do tricks, some substance instead would be great.

WT website says he is with us until end of 2022 in his bio. Don’t know where those articles are coming from but pretty sure he is not going anywhere.

Angus Crichton is a bigger need than Stephen and a much more proven player. Also imagine how good Staggs would have looked in that Panthers back line. He was better than S. Crichton last year and was on the worst team in the comp while S. Crichton was in the best. That tells you a lot.

Signing of any player is a gamble. Its not just the Tigers that have had some poor recruits, but i think some of the bad signings we have made were due to panic buys when little talent was around . We are all confident with our new recruitment staff, and us like other teams will at times pay overs for a quality players.10 yr 10mil contracts are suicide, but paying market value won"t get either of the Crichtons or any top class player, its a bidding war.

Its like employing a financial planner
They are there to help you get the best return on your money

Financial planners being there to get you the best return is actually the complete opposite way to the way the industry works. Financial planners are there to take money out of your hand and offer nothing at all in return.

Warren Buffet agrees with me.

RE Crichton, all of the fooball commentators players etc.think he is the best talent on the market, you don't get those wraps for nothing.
