"The standard at the Riff is a lot higher than what I'm used to, to be fair, but it's exciting," Eisenhuth told NRL.com.

Maybe he should have added that the "Tigers required a higher standard than I was producing, so they let me go"

The vibe at the Tigers was no more nuffies - so I guess I just didn't fit in any more.

Matt - go and bag your head.

We carried the huth for quite a while and he produced diddly squat with us. The Huth needs to remember that he was "in my" opinion a very average first grader at WTs and will probably be the same at Penrith, if not playing reserve grade. Its easy to talk trash about training energy and better standards etc but you still need to put it into action on the field and I think he will end up in the same boat as MWZ. Still wondering how a story was even done on the Huth, most wouldn't even know who he is.

From Zerotackle ..

Brisbane are set to confirm the signing of Wests utility Billy Walters, the son of Broncos coach Kevin.

The Tigers are set to announce the deal in the coming days, with 7News Brisbane reporting the father-son duo will come into effect for the 2021 season.

Walters’ arrival will be met with great optimism at Red Hill, with the 26-year-old set to add depth to the Broncos’ playmaking stocks.

Star five-eighth Anthony Milford is facing a race against the clock to make Brisbane’s Round 1 clash after requiring surgery on a fractured hand, with Walters set to assist in Milford’s absence.

Walters has played 10 NRL matches since making his debut with Melbourne in 2019, moving to Concord the following season where he played eight matches.

What happened to the unspoken rule of not bagging your old club?

The one that employed you? paid you 100s of thousands of dollars a year to play footy? the ones that carried you despite being a no name?

Players set the standards. They were the ones that constantly lost year after year...cant stand it when they somehow deserve an ego and feel the need to throw dirt on their previous club.

The club that gave you an opportunity where no other club would .. the club that carried you as you plodded along barely breaking out in a sweat .. be grateful for the chances you had but you decided to waste them by not putting in .. someone should remind this nob-a-tron .. "that the only rewards you get in this game, are the ones you get from the efforts that you put in"

He averaged 40 tackles a game and over 100 running metres. Not sure you can accuse him of barely breaking a sweat.

Detroit plod city. Nobody feared him.

If Walters leaves the squad is at 26 and trials are approaching. Question has to be asked, did we release too many players?

I dont think we released anyone who the club wanted to be part of our future.

Josh Aloia may be the exception but we have upgraded with the arrival of Joffa.

Sets us up for 2022

I’d take Sam McIntyre back but you do make a good point.not much quality really.

That’s 100% correct no formal offer was put forward to McInnes or his management, catch up was to gage exactly where he was at & his thoughts on playing position which at the time was Hooker or nothing else hence discussions didn’t really eventuate further.
Seems McInnes has had a re-think on his Hooker stance.

**The Tigers should have been smarter.**

**The Club Should rethink the publicity associated with public meetings.**

This would avoid sensationalist stories being published and leaving the our club again looking like it took a yet another blow in the recruitment market.

Been thinking that as well. Madge is very hands on but might make sense to let Hartigan do the public meetings, he’s a lot less recognisable.

In response to a couple of the above quotes.
The club being smarter about it.

Agree. We probably need to be less and more transparent. In the case of meetings. I feel it’s fine to have meetings between players and the coach. What I would like to hear is Madge openly refruting media reports.
In the case of meeting with Cam.
Quote something like. “Cam is a solid player and would be a welcome addition to any team as the opening statement.
If pressed further, state, “cam and I have a previous history from another club and he was just after some career advise. Pressed if the tigers would sign him to play hooker or any other position.
“No, we are very satisfied with our current roster”
Not one of our front facing people. Coach, recruitment manager, CEO or Chairman should make a statement saying they are looking at signing this player.

Furthermore to that. It’s time the tigers get on the front foot with the media.
Threaten them with removing any chance of exposure.

This whole we have a preferred reporter and leaking little droplets out to those sources is crueling us.
Treat the media. All sources as an equal entity and deny them access. Only provide them information through offical club statements.
If they don’t agree. Tell them we just going to give up red herrings at every opportunity and we will not allow you access to our players.
Make a stand!

It doesn't work like that.

Tell me if you can, how it does work.
Why does the media have so much leverage over only a select few clubs?
Why do other clubs get away with silence until an official announcement is made.

If your going to tell me well because we aren’t one of the strong clubs and don’t have the relations to ensure favourable press.

We’ll explain to me how a basket case club like the bulldogs can get away with no misreporting until an offical announcement was made. Tigers have been linked to JAC the whole time then as soon as JAC said it’s not happening it was silence everywhere until an offical announcement.

The bulldogs used to have high influence with the likes of Ray Dib but he is no longer on their board.
In fact outside of the football team which is often gloated about the football club is reported as a shambles but yet media likes and players still flock to them.

We can’t get a favourable report from our very own James Hooper. Paid member and fan of the Tigers’s. Have the club shut him out so, now anything that doesn’t come his way he has a grind against?

They'll print whatever sells.

I don't understand why anyone gets pent up about media reporting. Media are generally lazy and desperate for attention / clicks. They'll trot out the same old stories if it continues to get views for their newspaper.

Tigers are easy to flog as we haven't made the finals in 10 years. It's much harder to fling mud at clubs who have had some decent success. Tigers are easy targets and with a large and wider supporter base to appeal to.

Secondary to all of this, I bet my bottom dollar that many clubs have as much negative reporting as Tigers do, but fans have selection bias towards Tigers news.

Couldn't agree more.
Just wanted to add logic, facts and reasoning usually evades their minds though so it can be amusing, if you choose to look at it that way.

I'll admit I don't like when we're baited though. I see Lee is now included in the Folau talk.

Why oh why would Lee want to get WT involved in the Folau circus.

Completely agree we have had a good off season why spoil it by speaking to a pensioner who creates division?

Lee is a problem.

He is also our Chairman and major sponsor, he can say what he likes, we all do.

How many Chairmen put their bib in ?

I don't know, you tell me, he is allowed to comment on anything he likes, as it happens, he was on his regular SEN broadcast, when apparently asked a question, which he seems to have answered quite well.

"Tigers don't keep us appropriately informed!"

also

"Tigers make too many public comments!"

also

"Tigers should keep everything in-house and out of the media!"

also

"I wish we had an update on potential signings!"

The Donkeys remind me of how the Reds and The Lions were until recently - caught between the past and reality - totally reliant on old systems and old boys clubs; and no-one with a clue on how to move past the glory days. Hopefully, they never will.

This bit of bile from Andrew Webster SMH;
After the story about the Dragons’ interest in Folau broke, Manly and the Wests Tigers predictably came knocking.

Webster not having a good time just now as a Dragons supporter and open homosexual.

Yeah. Starting to run in a straight line doesn't mean he's ready to play. Just ask Liddle.

What do the Tigers get?

We get two things,

1 - Letting him play at the club his father coaches and

2 - More importantly Not paying a player that most likely wont see much First grade in 2021 or be here in 2022.

I wish Billy Walters the best of luck, I respect his attitude.

Clearly whoever wrote this dribble did very little fact finding beforehand. Fail to see how Walters will assist in Milford's absence while recovering from his ACL injury.

**Kevvie set to deploy NRL’s latest father-son duo at Broncos**

February 4, 2021 10:38am
MARK ST JOHN Source: FOX SPORTS

Broncos coach Kevin Walters is set to sign his son and current Wests Tigers utility Billy with a deal to switch to Brisbane imminent.
“Billy Walters is about to join his father Kevin at the Brisbane Broncos,” Channel 7 reported.

“Brisbane are close to signing the talented utility from Wests Tigers with a deal to be formalised this week.”
The move comes with the Broncos likely to let 268-game veteran Andrew McCullough leave to join Anthony Griffin at the Dragons.

Walters would join expected starter Jake Turpin and Cory Paix in the race for the dummyhalf duties when everyone is fit.

However Walters is traditionally a five-eighth and would also provide cover for Anthony Milford in the halves.

Milford recently suffered a hand fracture and is racing the clock to be fit for Round 1.

Walters Jr has scored one try in 10 games of first grade since his debut for the Storm in 2019.

The 26-year-oldplayed eight games for the Tigers last year before a season-ending knee injury suffered against the Knights in Round 13 cut short a promising season.

The late bloomer required surgery on tears to his anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments, and will likely miss the start of the 2021 season.

It would be a big call for the Tigers to let Walters go after losing Harry Grant in the off-season, while expected starting hooker Jacob Liddle has a history of injuries.

However Tigers youngster Jake Simpkin is highly regarde, with the 19-year-old expected to compete for an NRL debut this season.

Yeah pure nepotism, has not really shown anything to suggest he is FG material, but the Tigers should be utilising the situation and atleast getting some cash out of it.
